We stayed at this townhouse for 5 nights. Two kids, three adults. We were visiting Amsterdam and my elserly mother was with us. We spent most of our days in the city and the eveninings in Monickendam (hopefully I spelled that correctly).
The house is spacious (for a European property) and nicely equipped.
The neighborhood has a small number of excellent restaurants within walking distance. The tapa restaurant 200m from the house was our favorite (through our entire 5 week stay, including 5 days in Barcelona).
The downstairs bedroom is the main bedroom but we reserved that for grandma. There is a small bedroom upstairs and a queen sized bed in the loft. Overall, 6 sleeping spaces. This is the only house we found that has an actual dryer. Most other places that list dryer actually mean a drying rack for your clothes.
The caretaker met us at checkin time, delivered the keys, and showed is around the house. He also recommended restaurants to eat at.
If you are arriving by car like we did, you need to prepare yourself for a surprise. Roads in old European cities can be narrow but this place is especially tight due to canals and houses being right next to them. In a few places, we folded the mirrors to get through. It was a bit nerve wrecking.
The way to get to the city is to drive to the north park and ride and take the train from there. Overall it’s a 35-40 min trip but I highly recommend against driving into Amsterdam and parking there.
