This was the perfect cabin for a short fishing trip with my sons. The host does a great job of providing quality accessories and supplies, from the TP, paper towels, knife set and Keurig machine. The paddle boards and kayaks are a nice added bonus. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Great stay!

Our family has been coming to the northwoods for several years. This cabin was perfect providing a quiet a setting, access to the lake and water sports. We would love to come back and stay again!

Amazing property, if you are looking for a cabin getaway this one has it all! Fiber internet is available as well after a long day on the lake. Plenty of shade. I can’t wait till our next visit. Great communication from the owners. Easy access. Thank you again!

The property was pretty much as advertised, with one frustrating exception. I brought my 20ft deck boat up with the expectation that I would be able to dock it. Unfortunately, there was a boat already docked on one side (presumably the owners), and the other side of the dock had a back rock coming to about 1.5ft from the surface exactly where the deepest part of my haul would go. Long story short, I had to launch my boat each day from the public launch. It was only a few minutes drive away, but it sure would have been a lot nicer if I could have just docked at the property. We also stayed during a pretty intense heat wave and high smoke conditions on a few days. Hot air, no AC, and smoky air are not a great combo. Owners, make it clear that there was no AC and 99.9% of the days in Hayward you wouldn't need it. Despite the above setbacks, we still had a very nice trip. The lake is gorgeous. Water was clear enough for me to see schools of bass while snorkeling in 15 ft of water (super cool), and the kids had a blast with wake boarding, tubing, fishing etc. Solid 4 out of 5 stars and would have been an easy 5 if I could have docked my boat.

The cabin was very nice, just what we needed and well decorated. Loved the deck, yard, and view of the lake.However, the neighbor let us know on Saturday morning that we can't swim in the lake because of some kind of bacteria that comes off of the ducks that will give you a terrible rash. He said there were over 20 ducks that tested positive and that the owner of our rental himself got the rash. Suffice to say, since we stayed there with our 4 kids under 10, we were all pretty disappointed we had a beautiful lake that we couldn't use. That definitely should have been disclosed so we could stay somewhere where our kids could play in the water safely.

From the owner: “I’m glad this guest enjoyed the cabin, the décor, and the beautiful lake views. The neighbor may have been referring to swimmer’s itch, which can occasionally occur in northern Wisconsin lakes early in the summer months. It’s naturally occurring and harmless, and rinsing off after swimming usually prevents it. This condition is rare and was unlikely to be present during this guest’s September stay. I appreciate the feedback and am happy to hear the family enjoyed the peaceful setting overall.”

We loved our stay at the cabin! The tree cover, breeze, and provided fans kept the place cool and refreshing even on warm days. The aesthetics in the cabin created a cozy and relaxing environment, and all the provided cooking supplies were wonderful! We enjoyed the easy access to the water and amazing views of the lake. The lake was easy to paddle in our kayaks, and we all enjoyed great fishing! My husband and one son did get swimmers itch in this lake even late in the season, so be sure to follow the guidelines to avoid it!

Mende’s cabin on Grindstone lake is a wonderful place to spend a summers week. Clean, up to date with all the supplies and items you need for a great time! Easy level access to one of the best small mouth bass fishing lakes in Wisconsin. The beautiful lake view is on a quite spacious lake lot. Thanks so much!!

My wife and I were very comfortable here. She says she would stay here again. The cabin is well appointed and the view is fine. Jim next door is a gentleman.
