Hi, I'm Chris.

I'm a Gold Coast local, a practising barrister specialising in taxation law, and an author who occasionally escapes from legal documents by writing books and exploring new ideas.

I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and have always believed that everyone has an interesting story to tell. Hosting gives me the opportunity to meet travellers from around Australia and around the world, which is one of the things I enjoy most about opening my home to guests.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me enjoying the coastal lifestyle, reading, writing, travelling, or planning my next adventure. I have a particular fondness for cruises, good conversation, and discovering places I've never seen before.

The Beach House has been created as a comfortable and welcoming place where guests can relax, unwind and enjoy everything the Gold Coast has to offer. Whether you're here for work, a short getaway, or simply passing through, I hope you'll feel right at home.

Why I Chose This Area

Originally from Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, I moved to the Gold Coast in 2001 and quickly realised I had found somewhere very special.

What attracted me most was the lifestyle. The area offers the perfect balance between convenience and relaxation. Being close to the water, surrounded by beautiful parks and walking paths, and only a short drive from some of Australia's best beaches makes it a wonderful place to live.

I have always enjoyed being near the water, and the Gold Coast offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle without sacrificing access to excellent restaurants, shopping, entertainment and transport.

More than twenty years later, I still enjoy waking up here. Whether it's a morning walk, a coffee by the Broadwater, or simply enjoying the sunshine, there is something about this part of the Gold Coast that continues to feel a little bit like a permanent holiday.

Monty is the resident cat and unofficial host. He enjoys meeting new guests, supervising activities, and occasionally accepting pats and admiration. Many guests quickly discover that Monty believes he owns the property and simply allows the rest of us to live here. If you're a cat lover, you'll probably leave with a new friend.
