Welcome to our beautiful unit at Keauhou Palena! The complex is right on the Kona Country Club and only a short walk to Keauhou Bay (1/4 mile). Keahou Shopping center nearby offers a movie theater, grocery shopping and plenty of local restaurants to try.

This property has tile flooring throughout, large open living area, large lanai, a master bedroom, with air-conditioning available and an on-suite bath. There is a sofa sleeper (new, deep queen mattress) in the den area, connected to the main living area, which has a retractable door that may be closed for privacy (almost like a 2nd bedroom!). Additional guest bath also provided. Relax and escape the heat with our newly installed air conditioned spilt systems, with one in the master bedroom and one above the sofa sleeper. Take your meals outside on the lanai and take in the gardens views of resort. Watch the golfers play and hear the local Hawaiian birds chirp away. In-unit washer/dryer provided.

One assigned parking space near building and complex pool!

The Kailua-Kona Historical Village is a short drive away (4 miles north on Alii Drive) . The Village is very quaint, with lots of charm and good shopping right along the water's edge. Some of the activities you can find in the Village and nearby are: beaches, luau's, farmer's markets, art galleries, jewelry shops, restaurants, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boogie boarding, and deep sea fishing…Just about every water sport you can think of! There is so much to do to stay active, or you can do nothing and just lounge on the beach or by the pool!.

We had a wonderful stay in Hawaii. The property was clean, comfortable, and as described. The location made it easy to get everywhere an still not feel like you're in the middle of all the buzz. Property manager Tessa was incredibly friendly and accommodating.

The condo was very comfortable and felt spacious. The lanai had comfy chairs and a table as well. Kitchen well stocked with utensils. My only issues would be with the mattress in the bedroom as it was extremely hard, and the the screen door was broken which snagged two of my shirts and ruined them. Check in / Check out was very easy, location was close to everything you could need. Walking distance to KTA grocery store and Longs Drug store.

Perfect place to stay in paradise

We throughly enjoyed our 2 week stay here. Very safe and quiet neighborhood. We are 2 semi retired adults looking for a relaxing place to stay- we found it here. Perfect location- far enough from town but not too far to drive to.

Quiet stay on a golf course

Our room viewed the golf course and a pool was right out front of our condo.....quiet and nice....we'll come again. Friendly neighbors and employees.

Great location

Well equipped clean condo in quiet superior location. Just be cautious of bad golfers and put sun shades down when golf course is busy.

Lovely condo and setting

Very spacious and peaceful, with very comfortable bed. Lanai was huge although we didn't get to spend much time out there, given that we were on the go with so many activities nearby. Loved staying out of the busy Kona area but still had everything we needed closeby with Keauhou Shopping Center within walking distance.

Recycle info:

The property was as listed. Very pleased with everything. Very enjoyable and well furnished.Would be helpful to have more info with the recycle instructions in the handbook. Recycle has to be separated and cans crushed. Only glass, crushed cans (crusher on site) and cardboard bins.

Relaxing

The location is a close walk to the water and to some shopping and the Saturday farmers market. Quiet neighborhood over looking the golf course just 20 minute drive to Kona. Clear instructions for arrival and check out at the end of our stay. We were told there weren't any beach chairs in the unit but there were 2 in the towel closest. Overall excellent place for a relaxing vacation.

Quiet and Nice Stay

We were very happy with this VRBO. It is exactly as pictured and described. Was very quiet. Right by the pool, and I had it to myself every time I was in. Easy short drive to everywhere on Kona Coast. We would stay there again for sure. Had a bit of a hard time openning lock box for key, but were able to get ahold of someone after hours and were able to get it open. Unit had everything we could possibly need as far as kitchen and beach equipment.

The best condo

We have been visiting Hawaii for over 20 years. This condo is quite, all you can hear are the birds. Lanai is huge, plenty of space and the view from lanai is awesome. You can see the ocean and a sunset. Condo had everything for a daily use, all the utilities. During the day the condo stayed colder, with the fans on. We enjoyed our stay very much. One of the best condos we have ever stayed. Everything is there for a beach use even snorkel gear. We had to buy the umbrellas for the beach which we left there. We recommend this condo, and will definitely stay here again. If you like quiet place, then this is the best place to be. Mahalo for your kokua

Could have been better

Location-good. Condo could have been cleaner, only minimally clean. Dirt under furniture, ceiling fans dirty, bathtub could have been cleaner. Not enough towels (only 2 hands & 2 washcloths. Some were stained and dingy. People friendly. Could be a nice condo, but needs care. Pool sometimes closed. Water cloudy. Yard work very noisy. Wouldn't stay again.

Our review

Our arrival was greeted by a very stinky garbage disposal. Problem was solved with purchase of two lemons. I feel that each reservation should be treated individually, we were there for two weeks with 3 rolls of toilet paper, one small bar of soap, three dishwasher pods and three trash bags. Even though you recommended that the trash be taken out at least once a a day. This did not make our stay any less enjoyable. Just some recommendations.

Quiet and Comfortable

We had a very pleasant experience. We have stayed closer to downtown Kona several times and enjoyed it but were looking for something a little more private and quiet. The condo complex is very quiet (except for the birds) and it was entertaining to watch the golfers. The grounds staff was attentive and friendly and the pool was very nice. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need in the way of tableware, utensils, pots and pans and cooking appliances. There was body wash and some small soaps for the bathrooms as well as starting supplies of tp, garbage bags, laundry detergent and dishwashing soap. It was nice to have 2 bathrooms and the sofa sleeper. I never expect condos to have food items or cooking oils/spices so being able to walk to the shopping center was a real advantage. There is a farmers market there every Saturday morning, several well-stocked stores, great restaurants, and a post office. It is also a very easy walk to the golf course clubhouse cafe and the Outrigger Hotel so the location was convenient for us.

Excellent condo

This was our second stay in this condo. We stayed there last year and we loved it. This condo had an excellent update with air-conditioning. One was in the bedroom and one in the living room. It's the units on the wall so it's extremely quiet and it works great. It was the best surprise for us. The view from the balcony is perfect. Lot's of palm trees, other trees and so many birds singing. All day, but in the morning it's more loud. They woke us up, beautiful alrm clock. This condo had everything you need. Toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags and even a soap and shampoo, towels and beach towels. Area is quite and the shops are close by up on the hill. Kona downtown is a little drive but it's still close. Beaches are close by. Another thing in this condo was how close the ocean was to go to watch the sunset. You just walk through the golf course, probably 5 minutes and you are there. We highly recommend to go to see the sunset, it's different every time. Pool is nice to use. This area is quite and if you like to relax then this condo is a must. We will definitely stay here again. We have been coming to Hawaii for 20 years, and this condo is our number 1 to stay in. Even the cars, driving on the street you do not hear them at all. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to be back. Mahalo for sharing your condo with us.

This unit was so close to the pool! The pool was extremely quiet while we were there. In 8 days we shared the pool with 1 other person. It is a VERY quiet complex. The set up of the unit is great for two or four people. We had an issue with the plug-ins in both bathrooms not working. I found the panel box and tried to flip the breaker but it didnt work. I contacted the rental company who worked to get someone out to the unit same day but it ended up being the next day but it didnt stop us from doing what we had planned for the day. Issue was fixed. There is a split a/c unit so you can run both the bedroom a/c and or the living area a/c. If you like golf the view from the lanai was great. The setting sun can get hot on the lanai so the owners have installed pull down shades which helped a lot. The unit did have a lot of ants in the kitchen and baths and even with little ant traps they were everywhere but it is a tropical location so I was expecting it. Not sure how often those ant traps are changed out. Other than that the unit was fabulous! everything you could need was in the kitchen. And the unit has a small apartment sized washer/dryer in a hall way closet. I even found a bathroom scale! It also has an assigned parking spot. I pick this unit again!!

Inaccurate Owner Communication

We like staying in condos on the Big Island so we can save money not eating out. We've stayed in Keauhou dozens of times, and discovered one of the best bargains is marinated meats from the local KTA. So having a BBQ was important to us - I specifically asked about this as the listing didnt mention it. Owner stated 'there is shared BBQ'. Upon arriving we found this untrue. Apparently english isnt the owners strong point. Another MAJOR disappointment was every speck of kitchen basics was gone. Not even salt/pepper. Every other condo we've ever stayed in had a variety of kitchen basics left over from previous guests; salt, pepper, oils, shoyu, rice, vinegar, etc. and i've always been happy to make my own contribution. Not so here. Curiously, there is a spice rack with moldy spices no one ever uses. The good side - main bed was great, TV worked well (tho it didnt have HBO as the guest guide stated), The lanai was large and great to enjoy watching golfers, The 'guest bedroom' was adequate with its pullout and privacy barriers. The AC was very nice and worked well. Furniture all in decent condition and comfy. We appreciated that soap for the laundry and dishwasher was stocked. Somewhat disappointed that the only personal soap was a tiny tube of body wash. No bar soap or shampoo - for these sky-high prices that seems like a cheap shot. The on-site staff were polite and on the ball. Wont stay here again.
