I recognize that I am writing this from an extremely Americanized viewpoint and considering the local's homes around Casa Sandra - Casa Sandra is a mansion. However, from my American perspective - the house is ok, not great. I understand we are close to the forest, so there will be bugs and spiders, etc - but I was not expecting so many, nor so many roaches. The showers were moldy with clogs of hair over the drains. The beds are not comfortable at all and my family got very tired, very quick. The pool is on the 3rd floor and leaks down onto the couches & floor of the 2nd. And - the monkeys poop in it. Watch the steps - they are concrete and twisting; anyone with mobility issues should be cautious.
The concierge is nice with a edge. Watch the pricing of the excursions. We had everything arranged at 1 set of prices then at the LAST minute, all the prices went up. I was told concierge does not set the prices, but for ALL the excursions, the guides had to check their emails for the prices - what? And, the excursion book at the house had a 3rd set of pricing. All this really bothered me as I felt taken advantage of. If you book here, the owner of Vista Verde (restaurant down the street from the house), can hook you up with excursions that are cheaper and better.
The house is fine, don't get me wrong and we had a great vacation. Just be mindful and flexible :)
