This is a cozy 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom home that is just up the street from the ocean. There are large wood decks on both ends of the home, a spacious backyard (hammock available), and our home is a short walk away from great restaurants, coffee shops and a small grocery store. One can enjoy walks, hiking, going to the beach, riding bikes, golfing, snorkeling, sunbathing, surfing or visiting historical downtown San Luis Obispo. If you’re a fan of amazing sunsets and tranquility, this is the home for you. (*Note: this home is only available for a minimum stay of 29 days.)

My wife and I stayed at Ben King's cottage for four months while I was working a contract assignment. We would definitely stay here again for another contracting job. Very comfortable house! Great parking situation for two vehicles . . . not something you see much in Shell Beach!

Very nice but a few problems...

We rented this place for about a month due to local move that held up the availability of our new home. Everything went well, area is nice, walk to beach is definitely on and local restaurant were good. However, minor things prevented it from being perfect; we had two small dogs that have never had fleas, but were being bit. A monthly spray tech came by and we asked him if he could do anything. We received owner permission and sprayed which helped. Besides that there was a serious crack in the ceiling that the owner said was cosmestic, but it clearly is not. Owners son came by to access storage shed. Texted at 8pm and he didn't come by until close to 10pm. All minor, but that ceiling crack needs to be investigated. Its an old house and that area is supporting a suspended cabinet and range hood.

Cute Cottage!

A slightly dated, but comfortable home with a great front deck with fire pit, and a nice backyard with deck and large gas grill. Two TVs have Direct TV and Netflix. One listing says it has three bedrooms, but there are only two. Nice location about half a block from beautiful waterfront park. We had a very enjoyable stay.

An amazing place!

The house is adorable, the front porch and backyard are great, there's a garage with a little desk that was perfect for working during the stay. It's half a block away from the beach and half a block away from food. Ben was super accommodating and responsive.

Cute house with some needed upgrades

Cute home in wonderful location. Clean and very well stocked. Terrific yard for the dog. Walking distance to the water/bluff and a small park. We were winter guests, so some things came into play that wouldn't be issues in warm weather: The house could use a setback thermostat for the single vent furnace. This won't cure the need to sleep with bedroom doors open (no heater vents in bedrooms), but will make setting the temp easier. The overhead lighting doesn't light the sink, the bar or other work areas of the kitchen. It's a 1950's house, so the current lighting is understandable--would be nice to have updated. These two concerns are the most relevant. Ben was amazingly responsive to a couple other small issues that arose. A great stay for us.

Shell Beach Charm

Ben's place rocks! A comfortable cottage in an incredible location. Beautiful seaside views and entry down to the beach are less than a block away. Enjoy the fire pit on the front deck on chilly evenings. The back deck and spacious yard are great to soak up the afternoon sun. Ben was attentive and quick to respond to any questions. Well done!

Lovely home

We spent two months here this summer for the second year in a row. The accommodations were excellent as usual. Plenty of towels and linens and the kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking implements. We kept the French doors open all the time in both the front and rear of the home to enjoy the cross breeze. We spent every day out on the front deck enjoying the marvelous Shell Beach weather, and enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. Ben is a responsive host and any issues were quickly resolved - during our stay, two sprinkler valves malfunctioned but were repaired immediately that morning. The location cannot be beat. Walkable to the Shell Beach eateries and just a few houses up from a small beach. We walked daily in the neighborhood and along the water. I highly recommend a stay here and will rebook again if we decide on the central coast next year.

Great location!

Very comfortable, nicely decorated cottage. Comfy beds. Doggies loved the backyard. Walking out to the street each morning to see the ocean was a treat and getting down to the beach took just a few minutes. We’d return for sure.

Cozy with Spectacular Location

This was my first VRBO experience and it did not disappoint!! The house was decorated with orange accents for Halloween & I immediately felt at home. My visit included Thanksgiving too. I was able to cook up a feast with the well stocked kitchen. My daily walks to the bluff, beach, and throughout the neighborhood were the highlight of my stay! Incredible views, kayaking tour with the local paddle shop, yoga at the Harmony House, butterflies at the monarch reserve, and walks on the Pismo Pier were other activities that kept me happy. It's was a great house for me and spacious enough for my kids & couple of friends to come visit. I hope my travels take me back to Shell Beach! I will defiantly try to stay at King's Cottage again!!

Perfect house for exploring California's Central Coast!

King’s Cottage was the perfect place for our extended stay on the Central Coast. The neighborhood is super cute with many restaurants within walking distance, friendly neighbors, and it’s only 11 houses away from the ocean! Take a picnic lunch, or some wine to nearby Eldwaylen Ocean Park and enjoy the incredible views and sounds of the Pacific Ocean. The house is well maintained, very clean, and feels much larger than its square footage. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cookware and tools needed to prepare a meal at home, plus there is a large pantry for your food. Outside, the front and back decks are perfect for soaking up that California sunshine and dining alfresco. This has been by far our favorite place we have stayed on the Central Coast. Ben was an excellent host and we hope to stay here again in the near future.
