Family-Friendly Southern Vacation Villa Near the Beach, Restaurants and Golf

Egret Point by Spinnaker is nestled between the Carolina Pines and Palmetto trees of Shipyard Plantation, overlooking an interconnected lagoon system. Enjoy the on-site heated pool and hot tub, free Wi-Fi, and private beach access at Shipyard Beach Club.
The complex has an activity center with a fitness room and game room and gas grills.

This villa provides a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, spacious open concept living areas, elegant furnishings, and 2 private bedrooms (both have king-sized beds) with en-suite bathrooms. There is also a pull-out sofa which will allow for a maximum of 6 guests. Two free parking spots are available per villa. Plus, you can walk out on your own deck overlooking the pool. Egret Point Villas have several (7 – 9) stairs to entry.

This villa is located in a gated community. Two adult bikes are included with this villa for cruising the over 50 miles (80 kilometers) of Hilton Head public pathways and 8 miles (13 kilometers) of paths within Shipyard Plantation.

Egret Point adjoins one of the many golf courses on Hilton Head Island. For golfers, discount golfing certificates are available upon request.

A security deposit of 150.00 U.S. dollars is required upon check-in. Only credit cards are accepted.

Policy Restrictions:
No Pets. Please contact the resort directly regarding its ADA/general service animal policy.
No smoking throughout the resort complex.
No large vehicle parking. No boat parking. No RV parking. No trailers. No motorcycles.

The check-in location is not located at the resort. Check-in is at 35 DeAllyon Ave, Hilton Head, SC 29928. (Use of a GPS will be helpful.). Please do not try to travel directly to the resort as a security gate pass is required and this can only be obtained at the check-in location. Parking permits are also available at the check-in location. For after-hours arrival, call the front desk at 1-843-341-4242.

Resort villas are not wheelchair accessible and the resort is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

I am a semi-retired professor from Minnesota who needs to experience warm weather and salt water at least once a year, thus a vacation property in the South. Over the years my family and I have had many wonderful experiences at Egret Point and its nearby beaches. My kids have priceless memories of fun times on Hilton Head Island as they were growing up.

There is nothing like the sandy beaches of barrier islands, and Hilton Head is one of the best. Also, I don't like high-rise resorts and the congestion that comes with them.
I love to relax and get away from it all. Lying on a beach simply takes me to another place. But there is also a lot to see at the beaches: sailboats; parasailing; sand dollars (feel for them with your toes); star fish; and horse-shoe crabs. (Parasailing is a real kick, if you are the adventurous type.)
Egret Point is just about the perfect get-away. If you are a golfer, it is next to a golf course. Shipyard Plantation has a wonderful network of paved bike paths, one of which leads right up to Egret Point. After a nice evening dinner, my wife and I love biking around looking for alligators or caimans.
My family also loves going to the follie (a sort of brackish or salt-water marsh) to fish or crab. We catch blue crabs and we eat them, but the fun is in the catching and experience of nature's beauty. I also like to use a cast net to catch small fish, shrimp, and some places the occasional oyster.
Hilton Head has a spectacular array of restaurants (and shops). I like informal places with great food, and my favorite is the Sea Shack. A great place for breakfast is Signey's, which I think is my wife's favorite. Hilton Head is located in South Carolina's "low country," which features unique dishes emphasizing seafood.
To keep costs down, we also cook a lot in our Egret Point villa. It has a full kitchen and there are gas grills outside for cooking steaks or shrimp slathered with pesto (another favorite of mine).
If you want to add a little history to your vacation, try a day trip to either Charleston or Savannah. Both are gorgeous, but they are also quite different in layout and architecture. Charleston was where the Civil War began, and you might want to take a harbor tour by boat. It will take you to the island where there was a Union fort, commanded by Abner Doubleday (of baseball fame).
