Step into a five-generation legacy at Smith Family Farm.

Escape the pace of modern life and retreat to our historic 1876 farmhouse. Set on 30+ private acres of rolling Minnesota landscape, this meticulously renovated home blends 150 years of charm with the modern comforts your family needs for a peaceful getaway. Whether you’re hosting a small family meetup or a quiet weekend with friends, the farm offers the perfect backdrop for making your own history.

The Home
With 2,250 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space, there is room for everyone to spread out or gather together.

The Main Floor: Features a full-scale, modern kitchen and a spacious living area. The main-floor bathroom features a deep soaking tub with a hand-shower wand—perfect for a relaxing end to the day (please note: there is no stand-up shower on this level).

The Second Floor: Home to peaceful sleeping quarters and a second full bathroom with a traditional shower/tub combination.

The Bonus Basement: A cozy 250-square-foot "nook" designed specifically for games, play, and rainy-day entertainment.

Sleeping Arrangements (Sleeps 10)
Our flexible layout is ideal for a mix of adults and children:

Bedroom 1 & 2: (Upstairs) Quiet retreats featuring comfortable Queen-sized beds.

Bedroom 3: (Upstairs) The "Bunk Room," featuring four extra-large Twin beds (plenty of room for adults!).

The Sunroom: (Main Floor) A bright, airy space featuring a Queen-sized Murphy bed—the perfect spot to wake up to the morning light.

Outdoor Living & 30+ Private Acres
The magic of Smith Family Farm truly happens outside.

Sunrise & Sunset: Start your morning with coffee on the large east-facing deck as the sun rises over the fields. In the evening, move to the fire pit near the pavilion to roast marshmallows and watch the sky turn gold.

Play & Explore: Take a stroll on our private walking trail (a guest and pet favorite!) or enjoy our 7-hole disc golf course. We also provide cornhole, bocce ball, and plenty of space to run.

The Pavilion: A covered outdoor gathering space featuring a Blackstone Griddle and ample seating for alfresco dining.

Location & Convenience
Located just a short drive from Interstate 90, you’ll enjoy total rural tranquility while staying within easy reach of local towns. 25 minutes to La Crosse, WI; 20 minutes to Winona, MN; 15 minutes to Rushford & Houston, MN. Easy access to hiking, small towns, and regional attractions.

Even better than advertised! The property is spotless and welcoming. The host has thought of everything for a wonderful stay. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and everything the property. It’s definitely on our list to return to for another getaway.

We loved our stay at this farmhouse. It has a nice big kitchen, a great soaking tub, comfortable beds, and lots of space. The bedrooms are upstairs in the house. The grounds have walking trails and a disc golf course and a putting green. We loved walking our dog around the trails. We hiked at 4 state parks that were within an hour drive so it was a great location.

The property and home were beautiful. We loved the kitchen and pavillion/fire pit area. Got to play a great round of frolf. And about 30 min from both Winona and La Crosse for our hiking trails which worked out perfect. We visited the owl sanctuary nearby after finding a pamphlet for it inside the house and we had a great time. The only thing our group didn't love was the Murphy bed as its a bit of a tight fit for 2 adults unless you want to snuggle all night. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for the weekend and really appreciated the space.

Quiet country getaway

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was well outfitted and clean. We enjoyed walking through the pines on the west side of the property. Very quiet location.

Awesome property

As expected, 2nd time we’ve stayed there, great location for us (5 adults and four dogs), roomy, clean, wonderful living area and kitchen. The outdoor area was great- the outdoor grill was used every morning for cooking breakast. The grounds were wonderful for the dogs!Convenient for our family event and close to Winona for grocery shopping!

The home and property were beautiful. With an older home I worry about temperature control, but this house kept us cool and comfortable despite the hot weather. They provided so much for activities, cooking, and just overall enjoyment. You get great views for sunrise and sunset! We loved this home!

Wonderful

The perfect place for a quiet county getaway. Close to La Crosse, Winona, and Rochester. The house is beautifully renovated, and the property has walking trails, a firepit, and outdoor activities.

House is so nice. We did scrapbooking and sewing and there was alot of room in the sunroom and dining room to bring tables . The kitchen is fully stocked and great for cooking with others alot of room. We watched movies at night and that was very comfortable. Plenty of room on the 2nd floor for all of us to stay. We will be returning for sure.

Beautiful home!

We had a wonderful stay at the Smith home. Corey had everything we could have needed to make us feel at home. The disk golf course, putting green, cornhole boards and bocci ball set were an extra bonus that provided plenty of activities for us.

Nice getaway on farm

It is a nicely renovated family farmhouse, immaculate and comfortable. Great beds & linens, well-stocked kitchen, and land to explore. The house is close enough to the river, Winona, & LaCrosse for outings; far enough away to feel remote. Recommend!

Lovely updated farmhouse

Very modernly renovated and updated farmhouse in the country. Great amenities such as kept up hiking trails, disc golf, nice firepit, and blackstone griddle. Close enough to Winona and LaCrosse for city activities as well.

Great getaway

Great little house with lots of outdoor activities and areas to chill. Our only complaint was the bedding & towels were very perfumed (dry sheets we suspected) which irritated our family members with scent sensitivities.

Beautifully renovated farmhouse and surrounding property in peaceful, rural atmosphere

Our family of four greatly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful farmhouse. The surrounding area is very rural, so it is an incredibly peaceful place to stay. About a 30 minute drive from Winona, La Crosse, and other cities with plenty of things to do. The house had everything we needed. I only wish the weather had been a bit better so we could have fully enjoy the outdoor spaces. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay for a family looking to enjoy this beautiful area of southeastern Minnesota.

Wonderful!

This is a beautiful property and location! We loved the farmhouse, renovations, decor, room to roam outside, fabulous grill area and fire pit, and truly appreciated all the thought that went into providing such an efficient and gorgeous space to cook, sleep, play while in the area to visit extended family. There is a space for everyone at Smith Family Farm!

Absolutely Perfect

Everything about this property is wonderful. The house is immaculate and fully stocked with everything you could need. The grounds are beautiful--when we weren't playing yard games or exploring the trails, we were relaxing on the porch. The owners are very responsive and so helpful. I can't say enough good things!

Renovated Farmhouse

We enjoyed our stay at this completely renovated farmhouse. The owners put a ton of work into modernizing the house into a fully functional house with all the amenities while keeping the charm of the original home. The highlight has to be outside. The adjacent gazebo and fire pit are awesome. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a rural getaway or family gathering.

Beautiful house!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. The house was clean and comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and overall it was lovely. All the outdoor space was wonderful and our kids had so much fun walking the trails and playing frisbee golf. The firepit and provided firewood was amazing. We really liked learning about the history of the farm as well. We'd love to return sometime! firepot

My family is the 5th generation owner of this property. The house was built by my great-great-grandfather, Frederick Smith. We purchased the property in 2018 with the goal of keeping it in the family for future generations and sharing this wonderful piece of property with others.

Located in the heart of the Minnesota Driftless Region (Bluff Country), Smith Family The 1870s farmhouse has been renovated over the years, though we’ve worked carefully to maintain its original features.

The property stretches across 36 acres of farmland, woodland, and undisturbed nature, featuring endless possibilities for outdoor activities. Explore nearby snowmobile and walking trails, play disc golf, or relax around the campfire with your crew! We are very pet and kid-friendly – just don’t ask us to babysit!

We’re located close to the Mississippi River, which has several trails along the river and through the bluffs.
