Enjoy a peaceful lakeside getaway at Woodlands on the Lake (Camp 2), offering 2 bedrooms, a cozy living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, bath, and a lakeside deck perfect for your morning coffee. Located on a quiet, southwest-facing section of Messalonskee Lake, it’s the perfect place to relax and watch the beautiful sunsets.

Woodlands on the Lake is part of our family-owned compound since the 1950s, located on the same shared property as our other two rentals:

Just a short walk from your door, you’ll find a welcoming shared space by the water, complete with a dock and gazebo sitting area where guests gather to enjoy the view. Spend time together on the sandy beach, take turns using the canoes and kayak, or let the kids play on the large floating dock. Life vests in various sizes are available for everyone in the small gray shed in between Sunset on the Lake (Camp 1) and Serenity on the Lake (Loft).

Dogs are welcome but must be leashed when other guests are present. A pet fee will be charged.

You may have the opportunity to meet members of our family at the beach, as we also enjoy spending time by the water. Come experience a classic Maine lakeside camp stay where you can relax, recharge, and create lasting family memories in a peaceful, welcoming setting. Bring your favorite beach towel and enjoy your stay!

What a sweet space! So close to the lake! Very quiet and peaceful. The loons were calling in the night/morning. The property is well maintained and tastefully decorated. We totally enjoyed our time there.

Loved this place

We spent 5 nights at this cabin before our kids went to school. We absolutely loved the cabin and loved our stay. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet retreat with lake access steps away from your cabin.

Vacation-land experience

Traditional Maine camp experience -- beautiful nature, loons, moon, lake. Spent several relaxing mornings outside with coffee and friends. Quiet evenings on the porch. Great place to unwind.

Clean, comfortable, beautiful surroundings

I stayed for a week with my spouse, two kids, and our dog. The cabin, itself, was clean and seemed as though it had been updated within the last couple of years. It had everything we could have needed for a comfortable stay. The walk to, and entry into the water, was easy and the lake is clean and clear. The surrounding area is beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed the fire pit. The laundry is located in a separate building up the hill on the property. The owners also live on-site, along with two other vacation units, so it’s not super private, if that is important to you. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property for any couple or small family.

Clean mobile/cabin. Needed new rugs 10 years ago, Everything worked as it should. Be prepared for very steep terrain, owners Doug and Jen are the nicest, warmest people. We enjoyed our stay.

Peaceful sunny spot on a beautiful lake!

This house was nothing fancy, but exactly what my family needed to unwind. There were exactly enough beds for my partner and our 3 kids, and the kitchen/living room/dining room setup worked great for making simple easy meals. The thing that made the house special was outside. There is a huge expansive lawn leading down to a sparking clear lake which was literally steps from the front door. There's a shared dock and a little sandy beach, and kayaks and canoe and life vests to use. There's a a shaded patio with a dining table and deck chairs for sitting in the sun. Doug was very sweet, checking on us, delivering us a little fire pit and wood when we wanted to make a campfire. We had a great stay.

We had the most amazing time! The property was perfect and had enough room for all of us and everything we needed. The lake is simply gorgeous and we used the kayaks and had such a relaxing time. Also, spectacular sunsets! Great communication with the hosts, will definitely be back

Love Maine

Quiet simple no worries place with a spectacular view of the lake. It was a great location that we could see everything we wanted to see within an hour’s drive Met the owners and fell in love with them immediately. Great folks. Wish we were closer to come back every year Special thanks to Bryan and Jen for all their help and showing us a better route home

Back in 1955, Mom and Dad Manter found a wooded lot with over 400 feet of beautiful waterfront and saw the perfect place to build their dream. Over the years, it became a place where family gathered, children played in the water until sunset, and memories were made around campfires under the stars.

When they passed, Doug and his sister Dawn felt incredibly blessed to keep this piece of heaven in the family. In 2020, Doug and his wife Jenn, along with Dawn and her husband Alan, came together to continue this legacy by creating Summer Haven Properties.

Thanks to over 25 years of repeat guests who have become like family, we’re able to share this lakeside dream with others, helping you and your loved ones create your own unforgettable moments.

Tucked along the quiet southwestern side of Snow Pond, this property sits at the widest part of the lake, offering peaceful mornings and stunning sunset views over the water. Here, the shallower waters warm up beautifully in the summer, making it perfect for long, relaxing swim days.

A large sandy beach invites kids to play and build sandcastles while the gentle, shallow waters near the dock offer a safe, fun place for little ones to splash and swim. For older kids—and kids at heart—the floating dock becomes the perfect launch pad for diving contests and cannonballs that echo across the lake.

Directly across the water, the Belgrade Stream offers some of the best fishing in all of Maine, with record-setting catches and peaceful early morning outings for those eager to cast a line.

Whether you’re watching the sunrise with a coffee in hand, swimming all afternoon, or fishing at dusk, this lakeside setting is designed for making the most of every summer moment.
