Our newest property in the heart of Southern Illinois! Located in Cobden, on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Explore the surrounding Shawnee National Forest, Little Grand Canyon and Panoma Natural Bridge. See Giant City State Park and the grand lodge. Enjoy our near by wineries or our local orchards. Close to Cedar Lake where you can swim or fish. Take your boat out to one of the bigger lakes. Then relax in the quiet, peaceful setting. This home has been completely renovated with two bedrooms both with queen beds. A full bathroom and a spacious kitchen with everything you will need! The deck out back over looks 20 wooded acres with a beautiful hot tub. Take advantage of exploring the property that is filled with creeks and wildlife! The home is dog friendly as well!

Girl's trip

Had a great time at this property. We enjoyed the location to many wineries/shops and the people in the towns were great. Pleasant hosts to work with via chat. Only suggestions are to have a bath mat and possibly bodywash/shampoo available, as we forgot ours.

Five star experience!

A very relaxing stay in a comfortable home. Hot tub, sunsets and star filled skies made for a perfect getaway. Comfy bed left us well rested for our hikes during the day.

Cozy Comfy Blueberry Cottage

The property was clean, cozy and cute as a button. We enjoyed cooking on the kitchen, using the hot tub. The open plan made it easy to visit while cooking. The bathroom was nice and roomy.

Cute and quaint!

Great communication with the host before arriving! Check in was easy and the place was spotless! Loved the hot tub and this place is so close to so many wineries, we couldn’t even hit them all. Close to a great breakfast joint and local bar to relax at too!

Great place close to wineries

Clean and comfortable place close to wineries. The hot tub was clean and easy to use. The shower head is removable and mounted very high. The kitchen has the basic cooking and eating utensils. Very nice place - we will definitely be staying here again!

Little slice of heaven.

We LOVE staying here every year the weekend if our family reunion! It’s located to the three cities where family live, love the wineries, and truly enjoy coming back to a darling decorated, clean, cool house in the middle of the country! They stock plenty of towels, beach towels for the hot tub, and even had coffee for us! Those thoughtful touches go a long way when traveling! This year, we even had a new little kitten frequent by to say hello! Perfect!!!

Amazing Get Away

This place is wonderful! Very clean and updated, everything was perfect. Extremely quite and peaceful house with all the amenities we needed. This was minutes away from winery's and brewery's. In addition I was able to park my bass boat and get to some of the amazing fisheries in this area. My wife and I plan on coming back multiple times in the near future.

Clean, conveniently located happy place

My husband and I wanted to get away for our anniversary. We settled on the Southern Illinois Wine Trail as our destination and were so happy to have this lovely home available for our stay. Clean, neat, spacious with everything you need to be relaxed and comfortable, and close to everything and place that we wanted to see and do during our stay. Big bonus: the hot tub! The owners were gracious and helpful. Would love to return. Giving this cozy cabin an A+!

Perfect secluded getaway

We haven't been on vacay since COVID. We desperately needed a retreat and after finding out I was pregnant was still too nervous for an all out trip. This was the slice of peaceful normalcy that we needed. Breakfast out on the back deck was so delightful. Would def come back in cooler weather.

Great place to get away while being close to everything!

Patrick and Jennifer's place is a couple of minutes outside of Cobden, overlooking a small meadow and across the street from a working blueberry farm, which was in blossom during our stay (April). The house is immaculately clean, and very well supplied to make your experience comfortable and convenient. If you're staying for a while, I'd suggest shopping in Anna or Carbondale for food to prepare, as we couldn't spot any significant grocer in Cobden itself. The kitchen has newer appliances and nicely maintained cookware. Bedrooms are good-sized with plenty of closet space if you need it. Check-in was easy and entry was gained through a secure electronic code lock. Living space is furnished comfortably with a double recliner couch (!) and a couple of nice side chairs. There is a kitchen island as well as a large dining room table. Off the dining area is a deck with the hot tub, which was really great after long days of hiking and sightseeing. The house is closest to the west Shawnee Forest attractions, including the wine trail, Giant City State Park, Little Grand Canyon, Pomona Natural Bridge, the Cache River Wetlands Center, Inspiration Point, Heron Pond, etc. Even so, the east side of Shawnee is a relatively short car ride away, so you can take a scenic ride to places like the Garden of the Gods, the Mississippi- Ohio River confluence, the old Iron Furnace, Rim Rock trails, Pounds Hollow, etc. Highly recommended hosts and home!

Great location for a wine trail trip and a hike

My wife and I take trips to the Southern Illinois Wine Trail a few times each year. We always use VRBO to book our trip. This was our first time staying at this location. We loved it. The Owl Creek winery is "a stones throw away" from the property. Try the dark cherry cider. Delicious. The cabin is super-easy to find. It's just a mile or two off highway 51. Great location. Did I say that already? Anyway, taking highway 51 north will take you to two family-fun places. The Makanda Boardwalk is a laid back place to check out. Giant City State Park is just up the road from the Boardwalk. Back to the cabin. The cabin is extremely clean. Other people have commented on the beds. We didn't have any issues with the comfort of the bed. The living room and kitchen area are nice and open. My wife and I made spaghetti while watching Pineapple Express the first night. The layout of the house is nice. And the hot tub on the back deck is awesome. I can only imagine the sounds of the frogs and wildlife during a spring/summer trip while relaxing on the deck. I try not to interact with the owners since they have lives, too. There aren't many neighbors in the area, so it feels secluded. But there are people around if you need assistance with something. Long story long, I will be staying here again. Happy wife, happy wine. Enjoy your stay!
