Discover the perfect getaway in Northern Michigan at our recently renovated mid-century modern home, complete with panoramic views of West Bay and nestled on a private sprawling 58-acre property. We invite you to be our guest and relish the charms of this serene retreat, featuring a top-tier chef's kitchen equipped with a 48" Thermador range with dual ovens. A magnificent stone wood-burning fireplace in the living room provides both warmth and ambiance, creating the perfect setting for relaxation and reflection.

For nature enthusiasts, this property is a haven, offering 58 acres of pristine woodlands with winding trails that meander through a mature hardwood forest, rolling hills, and captivating vistas of West Bay. During the fall, the colors are spectacular and you won't need to leave the property to see the best Northern Michigan has to offer. Keep an eye out for our esteemed residents, Harry and Harriet, the mature bald eagles, who call our property home and whose nest can be seen from the living and dining room windows. Since we've owned the property, Harry and Harriet have produced 2 or 3 eaglets each year in early spring (Mar-May).

A quarter-mile private blacktop driveway winds through picturesque terrain, leading to the house, which sits ~ 400 feet above the water. From here, you can revel in panoramic views of the turquoise and blue hues of West Bay from one of the highest points in Leelanau County. Thunderstorms are amazing to watch from this elevation overlooking West Bay.

**A short drive away lies the Sleeping Bear Dunes, recently hailed as one of the most beautiful places in the country by Good Morning America!**

Our home is thoughtfully stocked with linens, bath towels, beach towels, a barbecue grill (propane provided), a coffee maker, microwave, a 65" smart TV (please use your streaming service logins as cable is not available), Sonos surround speakers, high-speed WiFi, a washer/dryer, high chair, pack and play, bumbo chair for infants, and more.

PLEASE NOTE: Our property is situated on the west side of M-22, meaning the water is across the street and over the guardrail (typical for this area). Despite its proximity to M-22, it is very quiet and secluded. You can reach both Traverse City and Sutton’s Bay in under 10 minutes, as well as the many outstanding wineries our region is renowned for!

Tranquility in Traverse

The house and property were just great! It was all just as described! We loved the location and the beautiful views. We definitely hit the area at the perfect time to see all the fall foliage in full. The view of the landscape was perfect. Great host and very accommodating!

Beautiful views of the Bay.

A spacious and comfortable home with beautiful views of the bay. Lots of hiking trails. Easy to get to the city or Suttons Bay. Very clean and many amenities. Worked out great for a golf vacation.

Amazing views from every window!

Gathering of 5 of us for a girls weekend…house was so fun, mid century modern but with all the modern amenities. Everyone had their own bed, 2 of us slept in the lower level (walk out basement) and even that was nice and clean and dry, no mustiness anywhere. The host was excellent, easy to communicate with and very accommodating! We plan to book this one again!

Tree House Heaven

We loved every moment at this property! The house was perfect for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bedrooms were comfortable and the views were spectacular. The kids loved watching the eagle come and go to its nest. The trails on the property were our highlight. It was fun exploring and we felt like we were away from everything. Highly recommend!

The house was great! It was very clean, very accomodating with supplies needed during our stay and the setting in the woods was amazing. We really enjoyed watching the eagles every day. Dana was extremely helpful and attentive. She went out and purchased a corn hole set, big Jenga and several other games right before we came which was very thoughtful. The only thing I would mention is the house is located off the M22, which you have to cross to get to the lake. Also, the basement is very much a "basement feel" but clean and our teenagers had no problem with it. Overall, great experience and would love to stay again.

We are a group of 4 couples, ages 50-60 that normally travel together. We found the home to be perfect for our needs. The kitchen was well stocked and clean. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The location was beautiful and we were able to see the eagles in the nest beside the house each morning. The view of the lake and sunrise is excellent. No visible neighbors. Note, the house does overlook the lake but it actually a good bit above the lake in the woods. It is not really walking distance as the driveway winds up the hill a good ways. There is some traffic noise from the road below but not audible from inside house. Owner was very accomodating and responsive. House is a good central location to Sutton's Bay, Empire and Traverse City activities. Be sure and check out Roman Wheel Pizza in Sutton's Bay and the Sunday brunch at Bistro Polaris. It was our favorite meal in Michigan.

Stunning views, secluded yet very accessible location, wonderful host

We arrived with high expectations given all of the positive reviews, and our experience still far exceeded our expectations. Starting with the rental itself, the home was very clean and comfortable with a homey and cozy feeling. The home was nicely decorated with a mid century type of decor, and every amenity we could have needed and more was included. The kitchen had top end commercial grade appliances, the bed was very comfortable, and the views were stunning. The location was perfect for a quick drive into Traverse City or to explore the Leelanau peninsula.And of course I have to mention the eagles! It was such a unique experience to be able to watch an active eagles’ nest right from the dining room window. The eaglets turned 2 weeks old during our stay. It was so relaxing to sit down with a cup of coffee in the morning and watch Harry and Harriet delivering food, feeding the babies, perching on nearby trees, and soaring over the bay.

Perfect Getaway Near Traverse City

We had an incredible stay at Dana’s house near Traverse City! The property is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of Traverse City Bay and a peaceful, secluded location with no neighbors in sight. The huge property is perfect for nature lovers, with trails to hike right on-site. The house itself is beautifully maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The indoor fireplace was so relaxing, especially after a day of exploring. The kitchen was a standout—spacious, well-equipped, and practical, even with three of us cooking at the same time. The location couldn’t be better for sightseeing. All the must-visit spots—Grand Traverse Lighthouse, Historic Fishtown, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and more—are within a 30-minute drive. Dana has truly thought of everything to make her home a perfect getaway. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with easy access to Northern Michigan’s best attractions. We can’t wait to come back!

Breathtaking views!

This mid-century modern house has THE most beautiful panoramic views (including the eagle's nest) in Leelanau County! It was very comfortable, including the most beautiful & well-stocked kitchen we've ever had! It was a perfect stay for our family (5 adults plus an infant) and to have some other family over for a cookout. It's a great location, close to everything Leelanau/Traverse City has to offer. Dana is a fabulous communicator, always responding quickly and welcoming any questions or concerns. A memorable experience and a great find!

Luxury treehouse with an amazing views

We had a refreshing and relaxing stay in the woods. The house is a beautiful blend of rustic and luxury, very thoughtfully appointed and well stocked. The kitchen is spectacular, if you like to cook, you’ll especially enjoy. Dana is wonderfully communicative and very thoughtful as a host. The home has an incredible view of west bay and Power Island, we spent a lot of time enjoying from the chairs. You truly feel like you are in a treehouse, beauty out every window. We loved the eagles (two juveniles learned to fly during our stay!) and the deer encounters. We had fun on the paths around the property and found perfect marshmallow roasting sticks. It’s a quick trip into TC or suttons bay for supplies and a great spot to launch explorations. Highly recommend a stay here, any time of year, you will not be disappointed!

Absolutely wonderful!

This property was everything that was advertised and more! The view from the house is absolutely incredible and a great place to relax after running around all day. We really enjoyed this beautiful property in the woods and were fortunate with better than expected weather and were able to use the firepit outside. The property is centrally located - downtown Traverse City and the many wineries are all easily accessible from this house. The house was well appointed with everything you can think of needing-better than any other previous VRBO's where I've stayed and the communication with the owner, Dana, was absolutely wonderful. She provided a helpful notebook in the house about everything in the house and the rules as well as suggestions for restaurants and wineries. The fall colors were stunning as well while we visited. We were very happy with our stay and look forward to visiting here again!

Weekend wine tour

We had so much fun at this beautiful property. The view of the bay is breathtaking. The common areas are much more spacious than the pictures show. The bedrooms are all comfortable. We did not even use the basement area but it would be wonderful if kids were part of the trip. The location is close to everything and very convenient. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Girls Getaway

This place was perfect for our girls weekend getaway. We loved the house and property. It did not disappoint. Sitting outside in the morning having coffee and watching the eagles fly over the bay was amazing. A great ending to a pleasant stay! Dana was also a great host. I sent a few emails asking questions and she responded immediately. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend in a tranquil setting.

Great Views in Leelanau

Quaint place in spectacular setting....

Awesome place! Saw the bald eagles, hiked the forest, and enjoyed spectacular views of West Bay. We were even lucky enough to catch a thunderstorm. Our host, Dana, was helpful and communicative, and made us feel right at home. They nailed the mid-century modern look! Very cool one-of-a-kind property. Will definitely be coming back next year with the fam.
