Modern meets cozy - minutes from downtown.

Welcome to Josh and Christie's cozy house. Built in 1929, this updated house still holds its vintage charm. This was our first house together and holds many memories for us - we hope it can be a home away from home as you explore SD.
Located just 4 blocks from downtown, this main-level apartment is perfect for accessing all Rapid City has to offer or hopping on highway 16 and heading into the hills. Won't you come to visit us?

The space
Our little home is so cozy. Our apartment is perfect for your stay. With free wifi, AppleTV, and a central location, it’s a great place to call home while you’re in the Black Hills. Get out and explore, relax and watch some TV, or enjoy grilling and laying on the hammock in the back yard. You can also easily walk downtown and explore Rapid City.

Guest access
Access to the house is the alley in the rear. Parking is limited but you have your own space. Head out to the front of the house to follow the sidewalk and walk downtown.

Other things to note
Parking is free and available but limited to 1 space (possible 2 on special request).

We use an August Lock for check-in. Once a booking is confirmed, it will auto-generate an email to you with check-in instructions so please look for that right away as some people miss it.

We rent out the basement as a separate unit as well, but you have your own private space. Only Laundry and the backyard are shared.

Great Location near downtown

Will you really enjoyed our stay at your place. Everything was as described very comfortable. I especially liked the wide open living room and dining room area. When I realized it was right on Mt Rushmore Road, I worried about the noise of the road, but the house is set back off the street and we heard nothing at all - that was great. I was a little nervous

Comfortable and close to downtown

A great place to land after a long day of driving. Appreciate the communication with the owner, the relaxing backyard, and off street parking. Close to downtown and a walk to dinner. We went to Pour54 - great pizza and some beer sampling.

Labor Day Weekend Get-a-way

Charming bungalow in the heart of Rapid City. Great location for access to Rushmore, Storybook Island, Bear Country, Reptile Gardens and the like. Easy access in and out. Property is well suited to a small family or couple. Dog friendly with access to fenced backyard, shared with basement guests (own separate unit). We enjoyed the interior layout - pet and child friendly without any worries with decor. Small kitchen perfect for meals or snacks. Hosts communicated timely and well.

Great cozy place

Wonderful place to stay with our two little dogs. Great location to visit Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Deadwood. Clean and quiet place with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Thank you!

Quaint and comfortable

Wonderful little place with optional seperate or connected property for optional additional guests if your party is larger. We only occupied the cozy space upstairs and the back yard, which is contained for pets but plenty open to enjoy the scenery and wonderful weather. We will definitely stay here again.

Baby’s first roadtrip!

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary and our baby’s first roadtrip we wanted to stay in a home to give out little one the most comfortable experience possible. Soft and clean carpet for crawling practice, a quiet and dark room for our little one to sleep while we played games in the living room. Such a great place and we can’t wait to come back and explore the area even more.

Cross country road trip

This was a great place to land for a few days. We ventured to Custer, Devils Tower, Mickelson trail. It was close enough to all adventures and local fare was perfect.

Local coffee shops coffee was great. Super clean and convenient and very close to a number of great places to eat! We’d highly recommend giving it a look and a stay

Comfortable and Walkable

My husband and I and our lab mix Jonesy had a very comfortable stay! It was great to come home after a big day and curl up on the couch and then head for a good nights sleep. We were able to easily walk to restaurants and coffee and enjoyed walking around the historic neighborhood. It was a great home base for us while we explored the Black Hills.

Perfect home base for sight seeing!

We visited National Parks and other sites in the area and enjoyed staying in this cozy house. It was an easy walk to downtown for food and drinks in the evening. The owners clearly take good care of their property and they paid such attention to detail with the offered amenities like extra drinks, coffee, snacks, and local business recommendations.

Our only regret was not staying here longer!

We really enjoyed this place. It’s a very nice little house that provided us a great place to stay while we were in Rapid City to see family. It was very clean and the host was very quick to respond to any questions or needs we had during our stay.

Lovely house

All went smoothly, everything needed was available (don't expect to be able to cook a 5 course menu though 😉). Looks like the pictures show, fantastic patio. Be aware that you have to walk down a short stair and along a small path from the parking. Not an issue, just a note in case you have heavy luggage. Thanks Josh, we really enjoyed the time here!

Uncomfortable entrance from parking

This experience is from two senior citizens who are in pretty good health and shape. The parking is adequate but the walk to the house is undesirable. The rails on the steps were very hard to hold on to. The house was laid out nicely and very comfortable, but could have been cleaned more. The ceiling fans needed dusting as did the air return.

Great home base for Black Hills.

Everything was as described and we enjoyed our stay. Would recommend to anyone traveling that wanted a break from hotel rooms and dining out. We spent our days hiking Mt. Rushmore and Crazy House and drove out to Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon. Picked up supplies at nearby Safeway and Black Hills Bagels and ate in after long days out. Great Location and Comfortable Little House

Great location to experience both the North and South Black Hills. Very comfortable little house with everything you need. Right off downtown Rapid City, where you will find some great places to eat (Sabitons and Talleys, to name a few) and great shopping. Josh was very quick to respond to questions and incredibly friendly. Highly recommend. Thanks Josh and Christie!

Weekend Stay

Our stay was perfect. The place is cozy with all the amenities you need. Restaurants are within walking distance and the host had great recommendations!

Hi! I'm Josh! My wife, Christie, and I manage this property. We love Rapid City and living in the black hills. We are both artists in our own ways. I (Josh) and a graphic designer and I love to read, travel, brew coffee, run and go out to eat.

This was Christie and I's first home purchased together. We love this house and made so many memories here. It was small but cozy and we enjoyed living here, close to downtown and it will always be a special place for us. We recently moved about 5 blocks away to make room for a little bigger family, but aren't too far because we just love the location and being close to downtown.
