Bright & Cheerful Coastal Cottage for Multi-week & Monthly Stays

Available for multi-week & monthly stays from November through April, this charming, light-filled and pet-friendly cottage is steps away from the Niantic River estuary and has gorgeous sunset views.

Set up for remote work as well as pleasure during the "off" season. There is a cozy electric fireplace and a lovely, south facing sunroom, with windows on three sides that offers relaxing sunshine even on the coldest day.

A fully-equipped and renovated kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and oven is made for cooking and eating. For grill-lovers there is a gas grill next to the deck at the back of the garage, with a prep/serving table, and screened gazebo for enjoying the yard mosquito-free. Or, take a five minute drive to one of the local restaurants in Niantic for fresh seafood, Indian cuisine, sushi, pizza, bakery, local/organic food, pub fare, and a brewery.

There are two cottage-sized bedrooms upstairs (Double and King) and a small flexible room with TV and twin trundle bed. Both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms have showers (tub upstairs) and there is a washer and dryer in the kitchen.

If you feel like staying inside, relax on the chaise with a good book or sprawl on the comfy couch and stream your guilty pleasure on the flat screen TV. If you are looking for outdoor adventure there are nearby beaches and parks.

Included in your stay: Wi-Fi, linens, towels, soap, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer (upstairs cupboard) bug repellent, sunscreen, beach towels, beach bags, camp/beach chairs, household items, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, and back up supplies (toothpaste/toothbrush, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, umbrella, etc.)

Not as crowded as Mystic and with many options for activities, the Cottage on Wood is a wonderful choice for your home-away-from-home work/vacation combo. Welcome!

Everything was great! The only challenge was it was the kitchen so well stocked it was hard to fit the stuff we brought. It was great to be able to walk to the end of the road and launch our SUP and the Kayak that was there to see a beautiful sunset on the river.

Urlaub ist eine individuelle Angelegenheit. Für mich und meine Familie war das Haus in Waterfort genau die richtige Mischung aus Urlaub, Abenteuer und Alltag. Für mich war es eine Rückreise in meine Kindheit. Als US-Military Brad (Kind eines US-Berufssoldaten) hat man keinen Heimatort, da man mit seinen Eltern von US-Base zu US-Military Base zieht. Und wenn Konflikte einer multikulturellen Familie auseinanderreißen, dann ist für mich ein Traditionelles, US Home mit Grandmother Charme eine Oase meiner früheren glücklichen Momente mit meiner US-Familie, so nenne ich das Haus Happy-Granny-Home in meinem Roman: Women, dreams over Seven Seas….gestarted in diesem Ferienhaus an der Connecticut Küste, New England. USA. Und definitiv, ich komme wieder, und….wer weiß, vielleicht eine Lesung? Cornelia Fontane und Familie Check-in ok, kitchen Perfect, WLAN Empfang nur öffentliche Verkehrsmittel schwierig aber wir hatten ein Mietwagen. Thanks for this wunderfull place

July long weekend

We were in the area for a series of family events, so we didn’t get to use the yard, beach, or the kayaks ,etc. Wish we had more time!House was very clean, bright, and very comfortable…everything was set up so that we felt right at home! Set up was very thoughtful about everything!I would suggest that It should be noted that you have to go through the bigger bedroom to get to the single bedroom

Great house, amazing location, quiet neighborhood

The house was very lovely, cute, and in a quiet neighborhood. Little walk down the road to the little beach and dock. If you forgot something, Cate, had already thought of you! Cate was also an amazing hostIll definitely be back

Everything you need and then some

This quaint cottage in a lovely and friendly neighborhood is a gem! Not only was it very clean and comfortable all necessities were there for your convenience! The only thing I think that was missing was a heads up that there are very steep stairs to the second floor and as Seniors it was a llittle difficult to manage. We would highly recommend to young couples and families.

Exactly what we were looking for. Host was attentive but not intrusive. There was an ease of communication. The property was very cozy and welcoming. At times we felt ourselves choosing to stay at the place rather than attend previously scheduled events.

Wonderful Girls’ Trip

This was a thoughtfully decorated, calm space that was perfect for a girls’ weekend, but was prepared for nearly anyone. My friend and I went with the goal of exploring the area and the lounge about doing nothing. There were plenty of places to sit around and lovely places outside to take advantage of the sunshine. The property had some lovely amenities like kayaks, but we also just enjoyed walking on the streets close to the water. At one point we opened one of the closets and the host had tote bags with towels ready for the beach. It felt like they had thought of so many little details, it was truly lovely.

Wonderful cottage

We stayed here over Easter while visiting our son at the Coast Guard Academy. After staying in New London multiple time, it was really nice to explore Niantic. The house was so cozy and very well stocked. We enjoyed sitting by the firepit. The beach at the end of the road was a quick walk, and my kids loved using the scooter and bikes that were available. Host was receptive and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

Comfort Location and Peaceful

Great getaway for our family!

We stayed at Cat’s house for about half a week and it was just as we expected! The small front room was perfect for my toddler to sleep. The house had everything we needed, was in a great location and Cat was super easy to communicate with. We loved our stay and will be back if we are heading to CT again!

Wonderful, relaxing stay!

We loved our stay at Cottage on Wood. Cate was a wonderful, communicative host. The house was perfect for our group of six - we took advantage of games and activities in the house, enjoyed relaxing in the front room which got lots of sunshine, and spent time in the spacious backyard. Rooms were cool and beds super comfortable. Everything was clean and accessible. The location was excellent and we loved the 2 minute drive to the boardwalk where we enjoyed lots of restaurants and local attractions; a 20 minute drive to Mystic and the casino which we also took advantage of. A fabulous week and would stay again!

Beach town getaway

This is a really cute house in a great area. It is a two minute walk down the street to see the Niantic River. You can sit there for hours just watching the boats go by. Very quiet with beautiful sunsets. Also a five minute drive to the cute town of Niantic full of restaurants and shops. The house itself has a fully stocked kitchen, very clean, multiple indoor seating/ relaxing areas and a backyard with comfy chairs for a nap. Great communication with the owner.

Great Location, Great Host

Perfect location near the water in Waterford. Close proximity to Main Street in Niantic and the amenities of New London and Mystic. Very responsive host. Easy check in. Clean home. Would love to return for more time!
