Welcome to the Lake City Guest Cottage | Gateway to the Alpine Loop- a cozy, converted garage studio that’s small in footprint but big on function, comfort, and access to adventure.

This space is a converted garage studio, thoughtfully designed to be practical, efficient, and comfortable for travelers who spend more time exploring than staying inside. It includes a queen bed, a sofa bed, a full private bathroom, and a compact kitchenette equipped for simple meals and essentials.

One of the standout features is the large, spa-like shower, which guests consistently love after long days on the trails.

What really sets this property apart is the location and access. You have direct drive-in / drive-out access to the Alpine Loop, including seasonal OHV access- making it incredibly easy to head straight into some of Colorado’s most iconic high-country terrain. *Be sure to check local laws!* From here, you’re also just minutes from downtown Lake City (about 1/2 mile away), with the ability to walk to shops, restaurants, and local attractions.

Whether you’re here to ride, explore, fish, or simply unwind, the Cottage puts you right in the middle of it all while still offering a quiet place to return to.

Outside, you’ll find a large, spacious driveway with ample room for trucks, trailers, and all your gear or toys; no tight parking or maneuvering required.

Simple, functional, and adventure-ready, this is the perfect basecamp for experiencing Lake City and the Alpine Loop.

The Cottage Is Best For:
Singles or couples looking for a simple, affordable getaway for 1–3 nights. Longer stays can work well if you plan to eat most meals out. For extended stays, we recommend a mid-stay cleaning and linen refresh.

The Cottage Is Not Ideal For:
Weeklong family vacations where the sofa bed needs to be folded up and put away daily, or groups planning to cook most of their meals. The kitchenette is functional for basic meal prep, but it isn’t designed for frequent or extensive cooking. The cottage is a converted garage studio, so think cozy and efficient rather than spacious or fully equipped.

Very convenient location, easy to find, super clean, bed was very comfortable (the mattress was a little noisy with some kind of plastic covering I'm assuming), I love the extra large shower! We were not there much, however, I would 100% stay there again on our next Lake City adventure!

This was a great stay! I would note that I wouldn't necessarily want to stay here with anyone I wasn’t completely comfortable with -as there is little to no privacy, like for bathroom use and such. Not necessarily a problem, it’s just the way it is-due to the layout and size. I loved the stay and the place and it was perfect for what I hoped for, but I was just thinking it might be awkward with anyone who isn’t comfortable sharing all aspects of life with their chosen roommate It was adorable and had everything one might need for a little stay in a great location! The host communicated well & helped with certain concessions that weren’t mandatory and I appreciated him very much. I’d stay again!

Host did not respond or was not available on day of check in. Cabin had no heat (fireplace was not working and did not work over the two days we were there. The host did bring two space heaters the following morning, one of them never worked. Location was poor as it was right on Main Street and across from ATV rental/repair business. Overall we tried to make the best of it but it was a disappointing experience.

Great Stay

Loved the cabin. We would have enjoyed a TV for the evenings and wished the corner fireplace worked but it was overall enjoyable, clean, and was satisfied.

Cozy cabin

Lake City Guest Cottage was just as advertised and we enjoyed our stay. Bring your own chairs to sit outside as there are none provided.

Lake City fun

Nice little place. Very convenient, as we could walk anywhere in the town. Hot water not very hot in the shower. Bed very comfy.

Advertised a patio. There was no patio, no outside chairs or table. No Tv, the host said there is no tv because he wants guest to enjoy the mountains. After dark there’s not much to do except go eat or go to the tavern. The bed and couch sound like crunching plastic when you move around on them.

Hi Walter, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, but I do need to correct several statements that are simply not accurate. Our listing does not advertise a patio, outdoor furniture, or a television — none of these are listed in the amenities or shown in the photos. We make every effort to represent the space exactly as it is so guests know what to expect before booking. When asked about a TV, I explained that we don’t have one because most guests come to enjoy the peaceful mountain setting — not because we’re trying to limit anyone’s experience. I understand that may not have suited your preferences, but it was communicated clearly in the listing. The bed and sofa are both clean, newer, and in good condition. Describing them as “crunching plastic” is inaccurate and misleading. Honest feedback helps us improve; inaccurate statements do not. We take pride in being transparent with our guests and providing exactly what’s described. I hope VRBO reviews this and flags the dishonest claims for removal, as they do not reflect the property or our listing in any truthful way. Sincerely, Hunter (booking manager l)

Only one roll of toilet paper for five days only two towels and two rags. Mold in the shower. Seen a few small spiders not a big enough trashcan for outside for two houses to share!! Needs more sheets and pillowcases if you’re gonna use the pullout couch. Other than that neat little place.

Cute cabin, shower nice and large, vanity nice. Six light bulbs were burned out upon arrival, no light in closet, and heater stove does not work. The tall step up into bathroom and down into kitchen is way too tall. Kitchen too small and cramped to use. Seems like furniture was missing, no nightstands at bed (we dragged over dinette chairs), no coffee table or other table to put stuff on (we dragged in our own portable camping table). Attractive curb appeal but we'll stay somewhere else next time.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the cabin’s curb appeal, shower, and vanity, and we sincerely apologize that several light bulbs were out at check-in — that has been addressed. For clarification, the cabin is advertised as having a kitchenette (not a full kitchen), and all furnishings are shown in the listing photos and description, including the absence of nightstands and a coffee table. We want guests to know exactly what to expect before booking, which is why we make every effort to present the space accurately. The step into the bathroom is pictured in the listing, while the step down into the kitchenette is not as obvious, and we’ll work on making that clearer for future guests. Regarding the heater: during the summer months, when temperatures are in the 90s, we disconnect the stove heater for safety, but it is available for use in the colder seasons. We appreciate your comments and will continue working to make the cabin as comfortable as possible for future visitors.
