First, the good. The property is beautiful, spacious enough to hold our ten adults, 8 children, 1 toddler, and 1 infant easily. The water is always warm and the children had a fantastic time in the water. There are kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and an ample supply of life jackets. We rented a boat from Lake Anna Boat Rentals, which enhanced our trip considerably.
Two of the bedrooms have enclosed screened porches, which was a wonderful luxury. The kids' rooms are upstairs and could easily have held more kids than we had. The coffee bar was well stocked, with both a Keurig and a coffee maker. We bought Kcups but there were plenty at the house when we got there.
All in all, we had a great time and felt very fortunate to have found such a great spot for a long-awaited family reunion.
On the not-so-great side, the amenities were incomplete and the host seemed to expect us to do many of the tasks that we associate with a cleaning crew. We made our own beds on arrival and found some sets missing or incomplete. The host remedied this problem promptly. There is no closet in the master suite, as that closet is kept private and no other wardrobe was available. There were no trash receptacles in the bedrooms, which made it difficult when we told kids to throw away their trash. There was no shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms. The checkout process was, we felt, very strict. To do the level of cleaning required and still get ten kids out the door by 10:00 am was, for us, very challenging.
Nevertheless, we would recommend this property to anyone looking for a family reunion. Just know that you will have to do more work than you might be accustomed to in a short-term vacation rental.
