This home is in a peaceful setting, nestled in the mountains, but only five minutes from historic downtown Salida, where you can enjoy all the restaurants, galleries, shops and the Arkansas River Walk! This location is ideal for winter stays as well, as it is a mere 20 minutes from Monarch Ski Resort! Come back to enjoy the wood stove in the sitting room and the jacuzzi bathtub in the Master bathroom!This updated home includes five bedrooms and three full bathrooms to give your family plenty of room to spread out! Four bedrooms have king sized beds and one bedroom has a double bed, perfect for the kids! There is a living room upstairs with a deck off of it, boasting the most AMAZING views of the Collegiate Peaks and the valley! Enjoy these views with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, sitting on the comfy Adirondack chairs. There is a sitting room off of the dining room for cozy conversations in front of the wood stove. Don't forget about the massive basement with a bar, refrigerator, TV and ping pong table for hanging out and having fun!

Loved the location! So close to Monarch for skiing and town for anything we needed. Also had a problem with the dishwasher and he had a repairman out the next day!

Had a great experience at the house. Perfect location, amazing views, tons of deer and turkey almost every morning and afternoon. There's tons of space so no one felt on top of each other. Nice hiking area right behind the house. Less than 10 minutes from town and the closest grocery store (Walmart) and still feels super rural. some really cool towns within 30 minutes and the sloops. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing Stay

We enjoyed being able to stay here, it was very and clean, and has the most beautiful view, it’s is very big and has lots of space, we definitely enjoyed the downstairs area, We hope to come back here again soon!!

Great location on Poncha Springs/Salida line making the major state and US highway routes accessible. Views from the home are outstanding, deck is placed well with view of the mountains. Salida itself is pretty cool! While we were staying here more for its proximity to various National Parks/Monuments and some of the scenic railroads, we found the city quite vibrant.

House was perfect for our stay.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the house. Location was close to town, house was clean, kitchen well stocked to cook meals, and family had plenty of room to spread out. Recommend staying at this house, if we choose Monarch for our trip next year, will definitely rebook at this house.

COZY AND CONVENIENT

We stayed here Fri & Sat night for a ski trip at Monarch. Wendy (the host) was wonderfully communicative! The house was super spacious, beds were comfortable, kitchen and all rooms were perfect! We especially LOVED the wood burning stove where we made smores! The ping pong table was a bonus too!**Highly recommend staying here!**

Wonderful family ski trip

We had an amazing stay at the “Birdhouse”! My family of 4 along with my adult son and his 2 kids, really enjoyed the home. There was plenty of space for all of us!

Great Base Camp for Skiing

This was the perfect rental for our family as we skied this weekend! Sweeping views of Poncha Springs, Salida, and the whole Sawatch Range! The home is great with five bedrooms that easily slept our family and my in-laws. The basement has a ping pong table and tv that kept us entertained during our down time, and the best part was it was only 20 minutes to Monarch! Definitely would recommend this property for a ski trip stop!

Plenty of room inside and out!

Chose this home for our last ski trip. Had my 17mo granddaughter and I had brought a child gate to block off the lower staircase, (noticed on listing pics) that enabled us to enjoy the very large lower level without worry of a stair accident, upper stairs has a door to close off. We were even able to sled on the property itself which was great. We will definitely return here for a summer trip.

Just What We Needed

This property is very comfortable. It was close to Salida, Buena Vista and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. With 5 bedrooms it accommodated both adult couples and teenagers. The view north from the deck was amazing with a panorama of the whole valley, the Collegiate Peaks and the weather. The kitchen had all we needed, the beds were quite comfortable - all in all, it served well as our family retreat. Private, quiet. Would recommend.

Problem with mic.

The rental house was infested with mice. Caught 2 mice first day and a third one got away. Hot water tank was not enough for 4 adults. Property manager was very responsive in bringing over mouse traps but we decided to leave after first night. Owner did refund out rental in full which we were grateful. We found other non-VRBO accommodations and moved on day 2.
