Welcome to "Bare Necessities" a secluded cabin located on a quaint dead end street off the Ski Mountain Rd. just 1 mile to Ober Gatlinburg. This is true smoky mountains living, being part of the oldest mountain community called Chalet village in Gatlinburg! This cabin is a great place to escape to with friends and family! With 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a pool table, and a private deck with a hot tub, this place is sure to make your stay a relaxing one.

Love how close the home is to gatlingburg and yet you still have some privacy. We had a few issues with most of the sinks/showers dripping water. And also you can hear it dripping in the fireplace when it rains. So if that kind of stuff makes your skin crawl… pick somewhere else. A few of the stairs were broken and the kids caught their toes on them a few times. Otherwise we had a great experience.

Great stay

It was an amazing stay. They had everything we needed. Wonderful respite from day trips to downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The hot tub and pool table were big hits. The kitchen is well stocked.

Had everything we needed for the week. Everything was as listed. Some areas were a little dated compared to the pics but everything worked great. Location was good. Some roads a little sketchy but it is a mountain. Short drive to Gatlinburg.

Loved the property. Perfect size for my family of 12. Listing was just as stated. The entire family loved the game room. We had bears multiple days even one day cubs fighting on the porch. One issue and owner responded quickly.

Our stay was everything we hoped for!Our family of 14 found the home spacious and comfortable. The kids loved the downstairs bunk room, and the porches were perfect for early risers and night owls. We spent many afternoons at the clubhouse pools, and the location is ideal—close to downtown Gatlinburg and great hiking spots! We even had a family of bears visit! Don’t forget to lock your car doors as we watched them try each car from the safety of the 2nd floor porch.

Best Little Hide away !

The house was absolutely Beautiful !! It had everything we needed. It felt really comfortable there gave me that family type vibe. Loved it !!! A big plus was that we got to see 2 bears and town was only 3 miles out. Best Vacation Ever !!

Great location near Gatlinburg

The property is as listed and worked well for our gathering of 3 generations. There was plenty of room for everyone. The cabin has certainly been well used with many dings noticeable on the trim and flooring that could be addressed.The lighting was a bit dark and there were a few lightbulbs burned out.We saw bears around the house and they tried to get into our vehicles (thankfully we locked our doors).

A Week in the Smoky Mts.

Amazing cabin

We just spent 3 lovely days in the smoky mountains and this cabin made our trip so memorable. We had a group of 15 people and there were enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you for making your beautiful home available to us.

Delightful Place

Overall lovely place! There was alittle snow from the previous day when we arrived, which was nice. It was a slight challenge for us to find the house initially as we kept turning right when we should have went straight, but overall everyone loved the place.

Enjoyed the stay!

It was a good time. Property was easy to get too and accomodations were nice. Only complaint is the kids room is on the main entry level of the home which made the adults a little uncomfortable due to all other rooms being on second and third floor. I would stay again

Great place for a big group!

The house was large but still felt cozy. We brought our 2 year old and I was impressed with how many amenities were there for younger children (safety gates, high chair, pack n play). The host was quick to respond and the check in was super easy.

Great vacation home

The house offers many pluses! Lots for kids to do in the house. Good layout and space. Owner very responsive when asked questions prior to stay. Only drawback was some minor maintenance and cleanliness issues that need addressing.

Best place ever that we have stayed!

Awesome dining area for 12. First floor perfect for middle of night pool games while baby slept on 3rd floor undisturbed. High chair, baby gates, stroller, etc. provided which were super helpful. Kitchen well equipped for any cooking. Definitely 5 star place!

Great for large group

Great house for a large group. House was clean and nice. Plenty of room with large kitchen. We loved the large dining room table that sat our whole youth group. Owner was very friendly and checked in multiple times with us to make sure all was good. Even texted us to let us to snow moving in the day we checked in. Great property!

Great location!

Perfect location! We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and hot tub. Inside our kids enjoyed the games in the basement. The extra refrigerator was great to have for food. Check in process was easy. We had one small issue when we were there that the fire pit was not working, but a maintenance person showed up promptly to take a look. As an added bonus, we saw several bears from the house!

Adequate Vacation Rental

Property exterior needs some TLC. Main upper balcony and furniture was covered in tree debris and railings in areas were rotting , loose and unsafe. Balcony and furniture should have been swept. Floors should have been cleaned better Overall property was adequate for our group, but your cleaning fee is high for what we received. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils except for Forks and Knives for the number of people the house occupies. Location was perfect.

Good but has issues

The house is called "Bear Necessities" for a reason. First the GOOD. Great location! Close to Gatlinburg. Close to tennis courts and pool that were in great condition. Close to Ober Mountain which was a blast. Big enough house for all 13 of us. Outdoor grill and hot tub which the kids loved. Now the BAD. Communication with the owner was very poor. There was no mention of cards in a bowl on the second floor that we were suppose to take to the clubhouse to check in. I found these the day before we left. Luckily, the kid at the clubhouse wrote down my house info and let us in. There are 3 couches that turn into hide-a-beds. Unfortunately, there were NO bedsheets to put on them and we only found two extra pillows in the closets. Luckily, the primary contact in the area brought us sheets. There were only 6 forks in the entire house! For a house that is listed as fitting 16 people, you think there would be more. Again, we were brought extra forks on the third day. There was one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom and NO extra toilet paper anywhere in the house. In addition, the description says that soap and shampoo are provided. Wrong again. No shampoo was there and only tiny hotel room soap packages. In addition, the handle for one of the showers was broken! It was nearly impossible to set the temperature. Overall this is a good house but could use some improvements and better costumer service.

Hello Lance, thank you for the detailed feedback. I never received any communication from you during the stay. I respond very quickly within minutes most of the times and would have taken care of things very quickly. Regarding the forks, we used to have tons of time like 20 or 30. Not sure how they disappeared. I also indicate in the check-in instructions that we provide starter kit for the toiletries. It is my oversight regarding the shampoo in the listing. We don't provide shampoo. In regard to the extra sheets for the couches, that was oversight from the house keeping. I addressed all these issues immediately after seeing your review. Once again appreciate your candid review and sorry for the inconveniences during your stay!
