Sundog Cottage - Clean & Cozy - EV - Walk to Food & Beach - Fenced Yard for Dog

Stocked with the best and often forgotten essentials so you can arrive as you would to your own family beach house. We want you to be at home at Sundog the moment you pull into the driveway.

Cozy, clean and great vibe! This updated (Solar battery backup) cottage with a modern retro flair is in a very walkable location near the General Store, Coastal Kitchen, and main beach access. It is a sleepier section of the village with pastoral views from the fully fenced backyard and if you go to the far left corner of the front deck, depending on the growth of the trees down there, you get a peekaboo view of the ocean. There's even a doggy door for your (smaller) furry friend.

We've made the most of this sweet cottage, and it has an open feel and romantic, comfortable decor.

Each bedroom has a Queen bed.

Solar back up keeps the power on out here, and you know that's a big giant PERK.

ABOUT DOGS:

We LOVE DOGS (madly, I tell you) and are determined to be able to host them too, however we do have insurance restrictions on breeds (check if yours is a high profile breed), and limit two 2 dogs (3 if they're leeeetle) and 4 people max.

Backyard is fully fenced and secure with a charcoal BBQ grill, and picnic table. The birds are almost always singing here.

Front deck is huge, with Adirondack chairs and a a pup gate to keep everyone contained. We have the beach chairs, towels, umbrella, blanket, toys and all the things to make you happy down there in the sand.

We are clean and peaceful and serene, and hope that is what draws you in to stay with us!

Wonderful Host & Stay

We rented this place for our babymoon and it met all of our expectations! The host is very friendly and prompt. The place was clean and had all necessities. It’s a short walk to the beach which was perfect for our pup! Hopefully we have the chance to stay here again!

Trip down memory lane

Fabulous time including the many nice gestures like fresh flowers and fresh eggs. Host lives close by and very responsive. We definitely will book again.

Beautiful and so comfortable!

My mom, 7 yo daughter, dog, and I stayed at Sunday for a ‘girls weekend’. Valerie was by far the most welcoming and kindest host I’ve worked with for a vacation rental (and I do this at least 4 times a year, through various platforms.) The house is beautifully decorated and totally clean, the beds are SO comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked, and the attention to detail is impeccable. Also, the fenced yard with a dog door is a great bonus for dog owners, and I don’t think I’ve seen it at other Dillon Beach rentals!

Had a great relaxing time - can't wait to stay there again. The house is terrific, perfect for the pups and close to the beach which the dogs loved. The owner is fantastic, easy to reach and full of knowledge. She made some great recommendations for food and things to do.

Sweet Beach Cottage

My two kids and I had a nice stay at the Sundog Cottage. The lovely cottage was fully stock, had super comfy beds, and was just a short walk to the beach and general store. It's also a perfect place to bring your pet - we brought our dog and he loved laying out in the sun on the deck and in the backyard.

Sundog Cottage is a Must Stay!

Absolutely loved the place. Within walking distance to the beach and very close to the Dillon Beach Costal Kitchen restaurant. The cottage was well stocked, very clean and cozy. The beds were fantastic. We highly recommend Sundog Cottage.

Easy walk to beach

The house is clean and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we might need. Plus there were so many thoughtful extras like fresh flowers in the rooms, extra comfortable mattresses, beach chairs and toys, a doggy gate for the patio. I would definitely come back.

Wonderful!

What a great 3 days at Dillon beach. The cottage is exactly described as is. It’s well appointed and communication with the host was perfect. We loved walking early mornings on the beach with our dogs. Hope to come back sometime soon!

Delightful Retro Cottage

Very cute cottage, clean, well stocked with towels and extremely comfortable bedding. Kitchen is well equipped and comfortable living area to relax. Perfect distance to walk to beach and general store. Lovely place to stay - will return!

Absolutely Awesome

Sundog and the host, Valerie, were both absolutely amazing. Sundog was more than we could have asked for and had everything we needed. Nice short walk to the beach, comfy beds, fenced backyard for our furry children and a fully stocked kitchen including local yummies. Valerie was the best host we have every experienced, kind, helpful and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful time. This is a must home for a relaxing, lovely getaway. WE WILL BE BACK!!! Thank you Valerie for creating such a lovely home for us to enjoy!!!!!

Even better than expected

Sundog Cottage is squeaky clean, beautifully decorated, quiet, and peaceful. The host is so easily accessible and congenial, as if texting to a friend. I can't think of a single thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable. Our 3-pound elderly Chihuahua very much enjoyed the fenced back patio!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Sun Dog Cottage is a very special spot. Lovely and bright accommodations. I was delighted that the pictures matched the reality (which sadly is often not the case)! The home was well-appointed, cozy, charming, and clean. The host was AMAZING - so communicative and easy to work with. Her welcome basket of local items was a beautiful touch. We will be back.

EXCELLENT COTTAGE IN DILLON BEACH

We have stayed in Dillon Beach several times, sometimes renting a big house with family and friends, and sometimes a small house with family. This one was absolutely perfect for a weekend there with one teenager and two dogs. We loved being a short walk to the beach, and the cottage was remodeled and perfectly appointed. It was darling! We loved it! (Truly 4 person max; we had 3 this time.). It was great to be able to let the dogs out to do their business in the small fenced in yard, and to sunbathe on the deck. And we ALL enjoyed the beach, of course. It is the best dog friendly beach around, and the remoteness makes it feel like you really got away from the Bay Area. Valerie was amazing, great communication and always responsive. We will be back!

Can a trip to the beach be a transformational experience?

Yes—it can at Sundog!! This little place is magical. Deer walk right by you in the field behind the house. Owls hoot at night. The ocean is a block away. Dillon beach is like a well held secret and Sundog is the place to stay. Thank you a thousand times for sharing your home and me and my dog BeBe give you 100000000 stars.

Perfect cottage with a delightfully equipped kitchen.

Sundog cottage was perfect for our intention of getting away from hectic schedules and get in tune w/ nature and have fun, family bonding time as we prepare to become empty nesters in September. The cottage was the perfect distance from the beach and balanced beach time and cottage time on the deck or preparing delicious healthy meals in the fully equipped kitchen. We became reacquainted with the game clue and were reminded that the simple things can bring great joy!

Wonderful dog friendly cottage

We had a great time at Sundog Cottage. Our four legged friends gave it a gold star, they loved the dog friendly beach so much, no leash required. The beach is huge and we spent two hours walking it with our pups every morning. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possible need and Valerie is an amazing host. You do need to be fairly fit and able as the cottage is up a hill from the beach although it’s only a 5mins walk. You can drive down and pay the $10 weekdays and $15 weekend parking rate. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evenings after exploring the surrounding area and eating lots of yummy seafood. We are Scottish and the area reminded us so much of home. We will definitely return.

Quick trip to the beach

We visited the Sun Dog to celebrate our fur child’s 9 year old birthday. The home was convenient to the beach and having 2 bedrooms was great because we have labs that sleep on the bed (on their fleecy blankets). We live relatively close and forgot a couple things, so when my husband went back to our house I had him bring dog beds and more blankets because despite being a dog home, we couldn’t get the dogs to relax comfortably. The fridge came with a few staple items which was nice, we were able to cook in a couple meals and ate out a couple times… it was nice to drive down Tamales Bay eat at Tony’s… which we’ve always wanted to do with our fur kiddies. It was also great to get up early and spend hours the beach while the tide was out. The wind was insane, so it was only a morning activity but exactly why we chose to stay in Dillon Beach. Overall a fun 2 night stay, thank you Sun Dog.

Wonderful, serene cottage- perfect for a getaway at the beach

I don't know what to say about Valerie's lovely cottage, because it went above and beyond my expectations. First, Valerie is a wonderful host. She is so personable, inviting, and incredibly professional. I came here with a girlfriend for a solo mom getaway and it was exactly what we needed- restorative, relaxing, and just a happy place to be. The cottage itself is incredibly comfortable, cozy, and clean. There are personal touches everywhere that Valerie has put in place. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were impeccable. When we checked in there were drinks in the refrigerator and some snacks and fruit for us- really above and beyond. As for the location, Valerie's place is steps to Dillon Beach and the general store and local restaurant. Just a note that the restaurant does close at 7pm and the items in the general store can be pricey, but it's so lovely. The beach allows dogs and Valerie's place is dog friendly, which is amazing. We didn't bring our dog, but I would definitely come back and bring my dog so she can run along the beach. If you're looking for a perfect getaway at the beach in a friendly beach town on the Norcal coast, this place is a gem. Thank you, Valerie for such a wonderful stay.

We dream of a world that comes together in unity. Where all are included and none despised. So rather than just dream about it, we made our own little space among the big space, and called it The Sundog.

Fun fact: We care for orphans and special needs children in India, as well as provide clean drinking water in villages that have none. In this way we peacefully contribute to the world, and your stay with us will contribute there as well.

Sundog is not just a quick "pack it in and turn it over over" vacation rental. We are neighbors, and deeply love our little treasure of a community.

The house is precious. It just feels "different" . Better, somehow. Like, a best friend.
