Hidden beneath a shady hammock of pines and native scrubland, this South Bethany home offers a quiet retreat with easy access to a private beach, fishing, birdwatching, and coastal attractions. The layout boasts an open living area awash with natural lighting from a large, central skylight. The kitchen comes well-equipped with updated stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. Enjoy indoor gatherings around the living area while watching cable TV, or head out to the breezy screened porch for outdoor living and alfresco dining with a table and cushioned patio furniture. Modern essentials include central air-conditioning and heating, free WiFi, and a private washer/dryer. This home is dog friendly.

Things to Know
Delaware regulations require all guests sign a lease agreement within 10 days of booking. A lease agreement will be sent within 24 hours of booking, and an electronic signature is required before final check-in information is made available.

Great cottage

Great cottage within walking distance to the beach! Passes allow you to go to Middlesex beach which is less crowded. Enjoyed the screened in porch. :)

Great!

We were a party of seven and stayed for a long weekend. The house was great, especially with a large group. What we loved most was its location among pine trees. There was a cool breeze and it wasn't out in hot sun. This is not something you usually find at the shore. The access to a private beach was an extra plus and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Much better than a crowded beach. All in all, I would definitely recommend this to others.

Perfect location

Love the home. Very clean and very well appointed. Love the huge sky light in the kitchen and on the porch. Property is completely shaded by trees, which we loved. Beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Middlesex Beach is a short walk and not crowded. There was a big storm during our stay. It was awesome to watch while sitting on the screened porch. One thing I'd like to note; The description of the home says there are 2 bedrooms with Queen beds but only 1 room has a Queen, while the other has a Full size bed. Not a big deal for us but that might matter to another family. I would definitely stay at this home again.

It was fine

House is located in a great area - I loved that we could walk to the beach! I understand this was dog friendly, but the couch felt too dirty to sit on without covering. We went to Walmart to buy some sheets to put on top before getting comfy. The beds felt clean though. Everything else was fine, nothing extraordinary.

Very enjoyable vacation

We had a very good experience with this property. It was clean, and suited our needs fine. We especially liked the screened-in deck, which provided a very relaxing environment for us to hang out.

Middlesex retreat

Been coming to Middlesex for over twenty years and this place was perfect. Comes with private beach access and parking passes for the beach should the walk be too much. We really had the best time here and would definitely come back.

Cute but some issues

We really loved the location, beach passes, kitchen, living room and screened in porch. We had an issue with the mattresses because the twin room mattresses and double room mattress were uncomfortable. Also, the main water to the house was shut off when we arrived. We called the line and I didn’t receive a call back until the morning after to solve the problem. Luckily my husband is a contractor and knew to go under the house and into the crawl space to turn it on. So obviously that was inconvenient. Also, there was poison ivy all throughout the walkway in the front and to the outdoor shower. And lastly, the outdoor shower was dirty and should have been cleared of a lot of the debris from surrounding trees. The house was enjoyable but definitely could use improvements and could have be prepared better for our stay.

Second time staying here and loved it again

This was the second time I stayed here - so obviously I liked it enough the first time to come back. There were some nice updates to the house since my last visit. House is great - the huge screened in porch is the best feature though. And it’s a bonus that we could bring our dog - they even had a dog bed on the porch for her to use!

The house was great, but left very dirty.

The house was great, but it was left very dirty for my family, and I to clean. When I checked in at Vacasa, I was given the wrong set of keys and had to drive back to the Vacasa business. I know that this sounds like small potatoes. But after taking most of the day, to get down to Delaware, and then, finding the house as dirty as it was, it was kind of the last straw. On a brighter note, despite all this, we did enjoy our week at the beach.

Loved this space!

We had seven of us and two dogs and felt more than comfortable the entire time. It was just the right amount of time to the beach. We felt like we were in a woodsy cabin that was quiet and serene with the beach right down the road. The wooded area across the street was perfect to walk our dogs and the screened in porch allowed us to quietly drink coffee in the morning and eat dinner in the evening. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed.

As advertised

The house has a GREAT huge screened in porch that is perfect for a large gathering or just a quiet cup of morning coffee, it's in the woods very pleasant. The house has a recently updated kitchen that has everything needed. The rooms are basic, the bathrooms are a bit rustic. The water pressure is very low and the outside shower is not great.

Home review: This home was not as expected. It was genuinely needing a deep clean. Dust is hanging from the popcorn ceilings. The bathroom baseboards are also covered in dust and hair. The light over the dining table is caked with dust. For us, it was unsettling and made it difficult to relax. Also, the second bed was not a Queen size as advertised. Vacasa: The house was not cleaned after the previous guest. Dirty, used sheets were still on the bed, and used towels were in the bathroom. Bathroom trash had the previous tenets floss. We called Vacasa to let them know. They sent someone over, but did not tell us we had to exit the unit during the service. My husband was working remote and this was disruptive since we had no notice. The vacasa cleaning service person was nice, but the ultimately the vacasa phone rep should have told us before the visit so we could plan accordingly. With the Vacasa fee we pay for the rental, it’s inconceivable to walk into a home with dirty linens and trash. We expected better Vacasa.
