Snowmobilers welcome. Nestled on a quiet country road, surrounded by rolling hills and lush farm land, this clean, comfy and cozy, newly redecorated cabin is just minutes away from all of the popular area destinations. A short, picturesque drive will lead you to the beautiful and historic Village of Cooperstown, the Fenimore Art Museum, Glimmerglass Opera, the Farmer’s Museum, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Glimmerglass State Park, the Otesaga Resort, and SO much more…

A year round rental with cell service, Wi-Fi and Satellite TV, Cabin #1 at The Lazy Squirrel has 2 bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate 4 people, but with the full size, pull out sofa in the living area, it can sleep 6. Bedroom #1 has a Queen size bed; Bedroom #2 has two Single size beds.

The kitchen/dining room contains a full size oven/ stove, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, a “coffee station” and seating for six people. We have a washer/dryer combo and an ironing board and iron for your convenience. There is a stand up shower in the shared bathroom.

Relax on the covered porch or around the fire pit, both of which offer Adirondack style chairs for your use. The back yard is the perfect place for some friendly game competition, so bring your cornhole boards, Giant Jenga or croquet!

For the snowmobilers, there is easy access to the NYS snowmobile trails from The Lazy Squirrel Property. There is a 6’ x 9’ outside, chain link kennel at this cabin, which may be used under certain conditions by those approved to bring their family dog (see Pet Policies and Rules).

Oh my goodness, I can't say enough great things about our stay. So beautifully decorated and absolutely immaculate. The area is quiet and peaceful aside from the occasional Amish horse and buggy going by. Will definitely be returning.

The host has thought of everything: the kitchen is well supplied, campfire area with Adirondack chairs, seating areas on the front porch, and the decor of the entire home is so well thought out! What a beautiful view and area! It is a small cabin, as advertised, but it's very quaint, clean and comfortable. It was about 20 mins to Cooperstown, beautiful drive. The host, Ashley, was very responsive and helpful.

Our third visit..

was wonderful. The cabin is always spotlessly clean, exceptionally well-stocked with everything we could need, and in a beautiful area. We love the quiet, the comfort, and the very responsive owner. Already thinking about visiting again soon. Highly recommended!

Cute small getaway cabin

My husband and I enjoyed staying in this cabin. It's cute, clean, cozy and quiet. It was about 30 min from Cooperstown Dreams Park and past all of the people and tourists. Has everything you need (although a teeny tiny shower) and very calming!

Clean, cozy, comfortable and highly recommended

Just returned from a second stay, and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. The cabin is cozy, clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. The beautiful and quiet rural setting is a huge bonus, as is the responsive and helpful host, Ashley. I am already planning a third visit. Highly recommended!

Hot Water Issue

The cottage is adorable and it felt like we were staying in a a Magnolia magazine set. It was very clean and the area is quiet and scenic. We had everything we needed but hot water and water pressure. Only lukewarm or cold available in all plumbing. The manager sent a handyman quickly, and he was very nice, but could not fix it because all of the water filters were clogged and he had to order them. So, quick showers. No washing hair as there wasn't enough pressure to rinse. This was almost a perfect stay. Handyman said the water heater requires routine maintenance of this will happen.

Quiet and cozy

This cabin has every comfort of home set in a country setting. It was a 20 minute drive to Cooperstown but away from the crowd. We loved hearing the cows in the morning and watching the sun set from the porch each night. We would definitely book again.

Cozy Cabin

The cabin was very well stocked and adorably decorated. The bed was comfortable with so many little additions, making it a wonderful stay. It was a convenient drive to Cooperstown. The only negative I don't think anything can be done about was that several times while showering - it started off hot/warm and quickly turned cold. Other than that - wonderful experience.

Amazing!!

From the moment we walked in we felt an amazing vibe and it was very cozy. We loved every detail of the cabin from the lovely home decor to the comfortable furniture. Everything exceeded our expectations. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. The plus side was that we were able to experience snow during our stay. We will definitely stay again. Our host Ashley was very prompt with reaching back out to us.

Loved the Lazy Squirrel!

We were on our honeymoon and the Lazy Squirrel provided the perfect place to relax and get comfortable. We cooked some great meals in that kitchen, hiked in Glimmerglass park, golfed at Leatherstocking (tough course!) and enjoyed the charm of Cooperstown. Thanks for the great hospitality Ashley!

Cozy, comfortable, and Charming

Visiting the Lazy Squirrel was a wonderful experience. The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and immaculately clean. It is the best equipped rental I have seen, and Ashley has thoughtfully provided everything you might need. She is an excellent and responsive host. The area is scenic and quiet. We can’t wait to visit again.

Beautiful Little Cabin

When we had a late cancellation of another rental for Hall of Fame Induction weekend, this one saved us. And we think worked out better. Ashley had more than minimal supplies for us and had AC on which felt great on a very warm day. The cabin is not large but beautiful and well decorated. It was about 1/2 hour to Hall of Fame and worked great at our base.

My family and I currently live in Clarksville, Tennessee, where I work as a realtor. As if real estate doesn't keep me busy enough, throw a very active teenage daughter and 3 canine family members into the mix. I wouldn't have it any other way, though.
I grew up less than an hour away from here, in Gilbertsville, NY, another small, rural Otsego County community.
I love this area.....it will always have a piece of my heart.

While some prefer vacationing in the midst of activity, I actually wanted a place of refuge for myself and my guests in the country. I find, as I think you will, that The Lazy Squirrel property is perfectly located: it's peaceful, private and off the beaten path, yet one can be in Richfield Springs in 10 minutes for groceries, gas, McDonalds and such, or Cooperstown in 20 minutes for the museums, shops, restaurants and baseball EVERYTHING!
