While the house itself was nice, when we got there the alarm for the house had a low battery. Since the host told me I did not have to activate the alarm if we were going somewhere, I didn’t think much of it. Late that first night, the host contacted me saying they were going to send someone out to change the battery the next day. I reminded them that we had dogs with us & I did not feel comfortable having someone there if we were not there. That ended up not being an issue because the next morning when we went to leave for breakfast, the front door (that has a keypad) would not lock. I tried contacting the host for 2 hours and got nothing. We ended up checking out early because we couldn’t leave our dogs and our personal items there without a locking door. The host did not contact me until 9 hours later and that was to let me know they were finally sending someone to change the alarm battery. At this point, we hadn’t been there for 7 hours and I had already contacted VRBO who also tried to contact the host with no luck. We traveled from out of state and our vacation plans were ruined for that day. VRBO is trying to get us the money back for the unused nights, but it’s up to the host and so far, nothing.
