As part of our 68 acre homestead, The Gift Bungalow has been our labor of love for the past 3 years. Offering guests the feeling of a rustic, country get-a-way while being close to many amenities and activities. Just 2.5 miles from the village of Clinton, NY and less than a 10 minute drive to Hamilton College, our historic 1921 guest house is a step back in time with all the comforts of home. Beautifully decorated and featuring hard-wood floors, period furniture, new state-of-the-art appliances, cascading natural light in every room and flourishing landscaping-this charming homestead is a dream come true for those struck with wanderlust. Curl up with a hot coffee on the front porch and watch the world awaken around you...

Perfect Autumn weekend spot

We love staying at the gift bungalow

Everything is thoughtfully considered and provided by the hosts, making the stay very welcoming and comfortable. We love the location and setting for this beautifully restored bungalow. It’s cozy, spotless and very well organized inside. We plan to return again whenever we vist the area.

Holiday Weekend Getaway

We enjoyed this lovely and comfortable and quiet home. The kitchen was very well stockedand the bedrooms were adorable 😍! The wildlife and free range chickens are a bonus.

Magical

I can’t say enough about how special this place is. It is a stunning property all the way around, the hosts are delightful, (but the houses are separated by woods and you can avoid seeing anyone if you choose to), the cottage is appointed with so much care that we felt they had been waiting all these years just for us to arrive! The land is endlessly peaceful and stunningly gorgeous—who doesn’t love a red barn with a chicken coop?! We’re actually hoping to be back to Clinton NY some day just to spend more time at the cottage—it’s not just a place to stay, but a destination retreat. Just can’t say enough about how happy we were to find it.

The perfect getaway

The gift was just perfect! The Inside was very well kept, clean and we felt so welcome, it had everything you could need. The location was perfect close to shops but also nice and quiet. We loved seeing the chickens everyday and the deer as well. Would love to come back and highly recommend staying here.

Second time is a charm!

This is my second time staying at the Bungalow and, as before, it is a treat. Very thoughtful touches everywhere, immaculate space, fully equipped kitchen (enough to prep Thanksgiving dishes!), quiet and comfortable. The Bungalow is my go-to place for stays in Clinton, Mary is responsive and super helpful.

Great place to stay

We loved the bungalow, particularly the location and spacious yard with roaming chickens and daffodils blooming everywhere. The house was very well stocked with anything we might have forgotten to bring from home and they generously provided milk, fresh eggs, coffee, snacks, etc. It was very comfortable and cozy and we won’t hesitate to stay again. The owners were easy to communicate with and helpful.

Wonderful experience

Kevin and Mary are excellent hosts! They both have a splendid eye for details as hosts. The redo on the home is phenomenal and so cozy. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay for the people to The Girls to the deer. Thanks, Kevin and Mary!

The Gift was everything we needed and more

We loved our stay in Clinton! The guest house was stocked with all of the toiletries and snacks we needed and even more. The hosts definitely thought of everything! We enjoyed sitting outside and watching the chickens and enjoyed trying some of their eggs too. We would definitely stay here again next time we’re back in Clinton.

Perfect for Hamilton Graduation Weekend

The Gift

Very satisfying treat at this quaint bungalow. The owners were very accurate on the amenities and comfort level. We were greeted with kindness and a very satisfied 2 weeks. The area was very quiet and comfortable. We would like to return.

Why would we ever stay anywhere else!?!

Everything was perfection! Mary and Kevin have literally thought of every possible thing that anyone would need or want in the amazing bungalow tucked in nature! We regularly book on VRBO and have never had hosts provide this level of service - truly unmatched! We have family in the area and have stayed in hotels for decades when coming for gatherings. We’re so happy to have found this “gift” and look forward to our next stay.

New Place to Stay

We decided to get a rental instead of staying with friends as we had the baby and all his stuff with us. The rental was absolutely perfect. Close to everything and everyone. The hosts thought of everything from the pack-n-play to the high chair. They even left little goodies for us when we checked in. Definitely plan on coming back and staying here for future trips!

Great Stay at the Gift

My family had a wonderful weekend stay at the Gift Bungalow. The house had everything we needed and more. Location was great, updates are lovely, and the hospitality was unmatched. Arriving late in the evening, we especially appreciated the snacks and breakfast items waiting for us. So nice not to have to run out to the store right away. And our daughter, a prospective Hamilton student, enjoyed seeing the Hamilton garden flag and encouraging notes left by Mary. We hope she chooses Hamilton so we have excuses to visit again!

Our Stay at The Gift

We loved the house we stayed in. New Hartford and Utica were close by, where we dined many times and hung out. “The Gift” had many amenities which we enjoyed including TV (with Cable and links to other providers like Netflix), the kitchen, shower in the bathroom, and the bedrooms. Some of the welcome goodies left for us were a nice surprise, and made getting accommodated quite easy. Loved the coffeemakers too. Looking forward to returning again soon. This was a perfect getaway.

Awesome Visit

We had a wonderful weekend stay at The Gift in Clinton. We were up visiting our daughter in college nearby and thoroughly enjoyed our downtime in Mary and Kevin’s bungalow. The property is set back from the road and has a lovely front porch and a back yard with an expansive view. Fresh eggs from “The Girls” made for a delicious omelette following an excellent nights sleep in extremely comfortable beds. Mary is super friendly and gave us chicken scratch so we could feed the birds- a real treat for us city folks! Would love to come back. Thank you Mary and Kevin!

Whirlwind Weekend

The Gift was just that, the bungalow is warm, cozy and has all the amenities of home, minus all the chores. Our hostess couldn’t do enough to make our stay warm and welcoming. I’ve stayed at other Vrbo locations and this one hands down puts the others to shame. From the fully stocked kitchen, plush towels, comfy mattress and linens and apple cider donuts. Mary & Kevin are true gems, and we thank them for allowing us to share their gift.

Very Special Relaxing Retreat

The Gift is probably the nicest VRBO experience I have had to date. The house is quaint yet totally updated to modern standards, the location is nicely secluded yet close to town. Our family of three stayed here for 3 nights while we toured colleges and it was a relaxing home base that actually felt like home. The hosts were beyond kind and generous in stocking the spacious kitchen with goodies and necessities; they responded immediately to any requests and questions; the beds were comfortable; the bathroom shower and products were amazing; and the living room was a cozy place to hunker down during the rains. Thank you, Mary and Kevin!!! We look forward to coming back!

Lovely Upstate New York Stay

The Gift was very well appointed and was far and away one of the most well stocked places I’ve stayed in over a decade of BnB/Vrbo stays. While the gift may not be the best place for families with little kids, it’s a lovely place for grown ups to stay close to town, but without being in the middle of it. This bungalow has been masterfully restored, it has all the appeal of a 120 year old farm building, but with 21st century amenities that don’t detract from the overall charm (incredible walk-in shower, fantastic kitchen, etc.). The hosts are *wonderful*, the farm-fresh eggs were a lovely surprise, and Mary and Kevin went over and above even buying my mom a bouquet of flowers for her birthday so she would have flowers there when we arrived. The location is close to downtown, but also close enough to major arteries that it’s easy to get to further out destinations like Cooperstown or Syracuse or the Adirondacks.

We both have lived in the area for more than 12 years and have always loved the village: there's a beautiful historical park in the center of town surrounded by a wide variety of shops-many have been operating for many years. One of our favorite places to visit in the fall is Clinton Cider Mill: the donuts are amazing (made daily throughout the day) We live in the ranch next door with our two fur babies. 4 of our 5 children live locally along with one grandchild so we are blessed to be able to spend time with them!
We were intrigued to find out that the property belonged to a family for close to 200 years-the Bungalow is 102 years old and there other home on the property is over 55 years old. During the early 1900's, a local Trolley ran for over 30 years about 100 ft in front of the Bungalow. The line ran between Clinton, New Hartford and Utica.
There's also an old barn with a fairy large meadow that we garden on each Summer-it's been a true learning curve but so worth it: there's nothing like picking your own veggies and flowers! The remainder of the property is wooded. There are several old trails that were here when we purchased the property back in 2019 --we are hopeful to make them available for guests to enjoy: its beautiful up there!
During our first tour of the property, we fell in love with Bungalow-we knew immediately that it would be a perfect guest house: the charm and character were the shinning stars despite needing a total rehab.
