Kona Reef Ocean front Resort in the beautiful Hawaii Aloha island and sits a few steps away from the Pacific Ocean and a short walk to town, where shopping, dining, beaches, family entertainment and nightlife are all nearby a perfect location for a holiday, honeymoon, or anniversary.

Enjoy beautiful sunset and, if you happen to stay from December to March where Humpback whales visit the Hawaiian waters each year you will be able to catch a glimpse of Hawaii's Humpback whales/Dolphins from our Lanai.

Enjoy your morning coffee, tropical drink, or a glass of wine while watching and listening to the waves. Hang out by the oceanfront pool and spa, or the beach next door. Enjoy the tropical gardens with beautiful blooming Hibiscus and swaying palm trees.

Swim, surf or sunbath on the white sand beach (Honl's Beach) or hang out by the oceanfront pool and spa. You'll enjoy the famous Hawaiian Breezes in this sought-after end unit with extra windows on the side.

Kona Reef F16 is a corner unit with only one flight of stairs. Guests can use one of the elevators thus making this unit easily accessible.

Kona Reef Resort is very popular well-known Alii' Drive close by Historic Kailua Village and sits back off the main roadway making it very quiet. The only thing you'll hear is the relaxing sounds of the waves rushing ashore.

The unit has recently been upgraded with brand new kitchen stainless steel appliances, furniture in the bedroom, new W/D and 50-inch HDTV in living room.

Enjoy the Hawaiian Tropical gardens with tables, chairs, and several Barbecue grills. Beautiful blooming Hibiscus and swaying palm trees complete the tropical grounds. Free onsite 'Wi-Fi' is included at no extra cost. Long distance call to US mainland and Canada is free.

Our Oceanview Condo includes all the special extras known to all our properties including beach chairs, small cooler, beach towels, and flashlights if you plan to visit Volcanoes National Park.

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED Inside the Condo or Outside on the Lanai/Patio of the Condo. Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor smoking areas at the Kona Reef complex.
Nightly Rates do not include tax, cleaning fee, property fee, and damage deposit/insurance fee (as applicable). Sales or Special Rate Offers are only valid for new reservations, and not valid for existing reservations.

Guest access
The entire condo, except 1/2 of the bedroom closet that is locked off as the 'owners’ closet', but there is still plenty of space in the closet for our guests to utilize.

After booking and prior to arrival guests will receive directions to get to the condo, codes to access the condo, 'Wi-Fi' information, and any other pertinent info. regarding your stay.

DURING THE IRONMAN RACE -- MINIMUM STAY OF 10 NIGHTS IS REQUIRED.

Any stays booked during IRONMAND RACE that do not meet this requirement are subject to cancellation if the guest does not meet the minimum stay requirement.

Excellent experience!

The condo was super clean, modern , well appointed! We liked everything about it! The bed was very comfortable!! The only negative of the entire experience was the adjacent torn down building next to the complex. But nothing the owner can do about that. We would definitely stay there again.

Two weeks in paradise

We loved our stay at Kona Reef Resort-Condo F-16. Sue was a great host. This little gem was very clean, fully stocked with all kinds of thoughtful details. The condo has a very comfortable bed and the bath has a luxurious rain shower. The kitchen had all accessories needed to easily prepare breakfast or a dinner before settling onto the lanai for a sunset evening. Great location with easy access to the airport, local shops, farmer’s markets, big box stores like Costco, Safeway, Walmart and Target. Perfect location for awesome day trips to Volcano National Park, Hilo waterfalls, Hilo Botanical Gardens and many many beaches. The Condo has tons of beach toys; sand chairs, cooler, umbrella etc etc. We truly had two weeks in paradise!

This VRBO was top notch! The owners have done an amazing job ensuring a well-appointed unit. We had everything we needed from a Ninja blender to beach chairs and beach toys! It was a great week!

Fantastic location and View

The property is very well maintained and though built in the 80’s, every bit of it is kept clean and maintained to current standards. Sue’s place is clean, modernized, with WiFi, full sized washer/dryer, full sized kitchen with everything needed to cook and dine at the condo ( saving lots of by not eating out as much). Loved the location. Away from the noise of town but very easy walking distance. The views of the ocean and reef waves were spectacular. We saw whales and Spinner dolphins almost daily. Watching the sunset each night from the grassy area in front of the resort was a sight to be treasured. Highly recommend the Starfish (Sue’s condo) BTW, her communications with us were outstanding!

Great view inside and outside

Kona Reef is one of our favorite places to stay in Kona. Location is within walking distance of shopping and places to eat. This particular condo has a good view of the waves and the ocean. The owners have nicely remodeled the entire unit. It’s open and bright. The kitchen is well stocked. Everything was as described. Except the view. It changes every night and that keeps me coming back! Enjoy it

Fabulous! Sunsets every night

This is a great condo! Clean, spacious unit. Well stocked kitchen, comfy bed and beautiful lanai. The pool area is clean and property is well cared for. Sunsets are stunning every single night We loved the location and all the amenities of the condo, would totally recommend a stay here.

Big Island Getaway

Remarkable Condo!!! Amazing location and wonderful amenities. Walking distance to shops, dining and beaches. Condo was immaculate with beautiful ocean and sunset views, upgraded appliances and very comfortable. Had everything we needed with added bonus of beach chairs, cooler and accessories. Pool was beautiful with lots of lounge chairs and BBQ area. Property was very well maintained, with ample parking. Would definitely stay again and recommend this unit to anyone wanting to stay on the Big Island.

Amazing condo!

This remodeled condo is very clean with very comfortable furniture and bedding. The kitchen is well stocked to cook meals and there is a great box of beach supplies on the lanai. We have stayed at the Kona Reef multiple times and this is my new favorite unit!

We really enjoyed our stay at this conveniently located property in Kona. The unit itself was impeccably clean, provided everything we needed including beach, chairs, umbrella, and snorkel equipment. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Honestly, you can’t go wrong here.

Absolutely perfect condo!

We LOVED our stay in this condo. It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable for our week stay in Kona! Close to town so you can walk if you’d like. Well stocked kitchen. Pool was fabulous. Comfortable furniture and bed! Easy to get in and of area! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to all!!

In 2022, we acquired Kona Reef F16. The big island is so different from the other island in Hawaii. It is unique in its own way and characteristics.

For years we've been going to Hawaii and we've had our home away from home in Maui, until 2022 when we visited the big island of Hawaii. We wanted to share with you the joys that we found when we first came to the big island and we hope that you will find the same magic that we discovered recently.

As we get closer to retirement, the plan is to live in Hawaii and continue to share with you our little cozy home at Kona Reef. Whatever happens in the future, our little Starfish home will be here for you. Welcome to Starfish Home and we hope that you will continue to come back if not in Kona, visit us too in our other home in Maui.
