Private two bedroom, one bath apartment spans the entire east side of the house, front to back, with harbor views from every room. An original harbor side home, renovated with modern decor, with a feel that is both vintage and fresh. Situated on a corner lot on the harbor with a spacious yard perfect for campfires, games, relaxing in the hammock, and simply watching the world go by.
Ideal as a home base for exploring the North Shore,
and as a sanctuary from which to contemplate the Big Lake, which is spectacular in all seasons.
This location is hard to beat, within easy walking distance of everything Grand Marais has to offer:
Art, Food, Drink, Music, Folk School, Artist Point, Lighthouse . . .

This place was perfect for my wife and I while in Grand Marais for 5 days. The host was great and all communication was too. We had a blizzard on our 3rd day with 2 feet of snow and she made sure that the driveway and sidewalks were cleared as soon as was possible so that we could get out if we wanted to. We will definitely be back to this place!

Guesthouse was in the perfect location for walking anywhere in Grand Marais, as well as only 10 minutes from great xc-skiing. Cozy and inviting. Will definitely stay again.

A perfect place to stay in Grand Marais. The Eastside Suite at the Avalong Guesthouse was just right for our 4-night stay. Close walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in town, and an amazing view of Lake Superior from the front windows. I was taking a class at the North House Folk School, which was less than a block away. The property was cozy, exceptionally clean, and beautifully decorated. Even with temps below zero outside, we were warm and happy inside. This is our new place to stay whenever we're in, or near, Grand Marais.

What a wonderful and relaxing weekend away from the Cities! The location was fantastic and MaryKate was great! The place was very clean and comfortable - we lacked for nothing.

Check-in was easy. It was done using cell phone. A full kitchen for making meals if you don’t want to go to the restaurants that are along the North Shore. The apartment was very clean. Great location and great view. MaryKate was a great host. Thanks for everything.

Loved this house! Just book it! Easily walkable to everywhere. Amazing views. Great hammock. Lovely host. Clean. We played the games made s’mores in fire pit. Loved coming home to this wonderful house!

Great place in Grand Marais

This is a great place to stay for a family of 4 in Grand Marais. The property is clean and well maintained, and the communication with the owners was excellent. It is within walking distance of all the downtown action, and a stone throw away from Voyageur brewery. The hammock and fireplace were a plus as well. Will try to come back.
