Family getaway

This beautiful gated property on a quiet street was exactly what we were looking for in a family getaway with our two sons and their young families. Everyone had a lot of room to spread out and their own level to sleep on with a view of the lake. The game rooms/water activities/fishing off the dock/beach kept all the kiddos busy when we weren’t out on the water. We rented a boat that we could dock at the house for the week which was super convenient. They were having a major heatwave in NC when we were there and the air conditioning was having trouble keeping up in the extreme heat so it was getting a little hot in the house but our host addressed it immediately, sending out an hvac repairman twice and graciously ordering multiple fans which were delivered the next day to keep the house comfortable. There were only a couple minor disappointments…a couple of the showers looked as though they hadn’t been fully cleaned and one of the beds had no fitted sheet on the mattress but I understand it’s sometimes hard to get reliable housekeeping when you live remotely:) They could definitely use some more sand on their beach to replace what has washed away but the kiddos enjoyed it immensely regardless! We would definitely recommend booking this property for your vacation and are grateful to our host, Christian, who was extremely attentive in trying to help us stay cool during the heat wave. We hope to be back for a stay in the future!

Weekend family gathering

Our whole family has been gathering annually for many years and have stayed at a variety of homes. This home was the best. There are many games to keep children (young and old) occupied when they are not on the dock, kayaking, swimming or catching some rays. The two large gathering rooms were comfortable and provided beautiful views. All of the beds and furniture were comfortable. We often make our meals in the house and there was plenty of cook ware, dishes, etc.

Fabulous lake getaway with friends

This home was the perfect spot for a friendly gathering of friends both near and far. The location on the lake was wonderful and the home was stocked with all the things you would need to have a great time away from home. Christian was very quick to reply to any of our questions and w head the absolute best time. The view from the kitchen and the living room was absolutely stunning and it was a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee. We cooked a large dinner both nights and the kitchen was well stocked with anything you would need. We also used the grill one night and enjoyed the other amenities Fern Hill Haven had to offer. We would 100% recommend this home to anyone looking to escape for the week(end).

Great space in a great location

Fern Hill was the perfect location for us for a family gathering. The house itself has everything you could need for relaxing, entertaining, and socializing. Lake Norman itself is wonderful with lots of different areas to explore, and the house's dock is a perfect entrance to the lake. It is on a quiet cove, but the end of the dock is deep enough for lots of water games. Even the 6 1/2 footer had a hard time touching the bottom. I can't recommend this place enough!

Great Experience

We could have not been more pleased with the home, communication with the owner, and overall experience. This home is all presented in the photos and description and more. Three generations and 12 family members had plenty of space for gathering, individual time, and activities. The home was well maintained, beautifully decorated, in a wonderful location, and equipped with all needed for an extended weekend with a large family. Thank you for a great experience in your home.

Beautiful Home

Myself and 5 colleagues rented this home for an end of year sales meeting/retreat location. It was perfect. During the day, we had great internet access to work remotely as well as access to a comfy spot to watch presentations using the hookups on the television. The view was beautiful, beds were comfy, the home was immaculate. We enjoyed some down-time at the fire pit and in the garage playing ping pong each night. The owner was super responsive and very thorough. We were given multiple dining and activity suggestions prior to check-in. I cannot say enough great things about this home. We loved it.

Wonderful Property and Location

We had great stay at Fernhill Haven with Family and Friends. The house had an ideal set-up with the 3 King suites and Queen Suites with shared bathroom. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were which is often rare in rental properties. Owner was very helpful in recommendations on local dining, boat rental etc. House was clean, nicely decorated and well stocked. The access to 4 kayaks was a great plus. We hope to return. Thank you!

Great Lake House

8 women stayed here for a ladies weekend and couldn't have asked for anything better. The rental was clean, well stocked and in great shape. The owner was very responsive when we had questions. The location on a "cul-de-sac" on the lake was perfect, the views were amazing and the beds and furniture was the most comfortable I've had in a rental. Would definitely come back!

Family Girls Trip

This rental experience was awesome! The house was big, beautiful, clean, decorated nicely with a lot of supplies and amenities. The host was very helpful and attentive. He was even good about mailing an item left behind. I would love to stay here again and highly recommend this rental home.

Perfect place for a sisters & mom getaway

Beautiful and Spacious inside and out!

Plenty of space for everyone to all be together and also be comfortable with enough bedrooms and bathrooms. The indoor games were played multiple times and though it was cold, some in the group enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the lake and enjoying the beach area. A great experience here at this rental!

Perfect Big Family gathering

Great Property on Lake Norman

This house was a great place to stay for our Lake Norman adventure. There is tons of room and the house is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a great lake trip! Lake views from the main living area and master bedroom were amazing! Communication with owner was great from start to finish and they were available right away for any questions we had. Easy to get to with close proximity to stores and restaurants. Highly recommend you check this one out!

We are from Pittsburgh (go Steelers!), but Lake Norman is our happy place. Over the years, our family has had many memorable experiences on Lake Norman: jet skiing: boating: kayaking: visiting the great restaurants and activities in the area – and we’re so excited to share those experiences with you. We have lots of recommendations! Our absolute favorite restaurant nearby is Bavarian Kitchen or sitting lake side at Toucans.

If you can’t already tell by the well-stocked game room, our family has always loved a good competition. Ping-pong, basketball, and foosball are favorites, but we won’t say no to a card game, either.

We bought this property because Lake Norman is our happy place and is close to all of the great restaurants and many wonderful attractions in the vicinity. Fern Hill Haven is big enough for our extended family to join us for holidays, summer break or any time of year. It's easy to get to and is located in a quiet cove with friendly neighbors that enjoy lake living.
