Tucked away on 40 private acres just outside New Braunfels, Hotel California blends the charm of a secluded Hill Country estate with the convenience of nearby attractions like Historic Gruene (12 miles), Schlitterbahn (11 miles), and downtown San Antonio (25 miles). From the moment you arrive, the property feels more like a private state park than a vacation rental — peaceful, scenic, and designed for gathering.

We had several things missing (trash bags, dish soap, etc.) but the host was quick to get things sent over to us. The grounds are beautiful and the house offers plenty of space.

Overall a very good property. Everything worked as expected. Some minor items - Chairs in the dining area were a bit rickety. Bedroom we stayed in didn't have end tables.

A blessing under the stars

There were 34 of us and we all slept great, played great and ate great. This place is fabulous and allowed all of us to have time to spend together away from the busyness of life. The hot tub and pool were a place to gather and fellowship. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had. Beds were all comfortable. The oak grove was beautiful. I can't say enough. We will definitely return.

The house was large which was nice to accomodate our large group.

House was nice overall. Property is beautiful. The large room upstairs with all the bunk beds is great for large groups but it stayed very hot even with the AC unit on. We had to go buy fans to sleep. Needs an additional unit on that room. Master bed abd bath are beautiful but there needs to be some sort of door on the bathroom or even a curtain. Some things just require a little privacy. The pool was an added bonus and was large. We had a great time and close to the river. Plenty of parking and beautiful deer at sunset. We had a great time. This is our 26th year and as our party grows this house can accomodate our party.

Hotel California now serves as a seasonal vacation rental, offering a peaceful escape for families and friends. In the summer, we welcome guests who come to enjoy the rivers, explore the Texas Hill Country, and gather for family reunions and group getaways. In the winter, many families choose to spend their Christmas vacation here. While we don’t decorate for the holidays, the natural charm of the home and surrounding oak trees create a warm, cozy, and festive atmosphere all on their own.
