Located within walking distance of many bars and restaurants. Situated directly along the 2.5-mile beachfront of Playa Potrero overlooking the ocean, Villa Potrero includes a professionally landscaped private garden with an oceanfront patio for sunset cocktail hours. A private gate opens to a sandy beach for casual walks, a dip in the ocean, paddle boarding, fishing or just watching the sailboats pass by. The bay has gentle waves that are calm and inviting with warm swimmable water. Your view includes the Catalina Islands 6 miles offshore, one of the most sought out scuba diving and snorkeling locations in Costa Rica. Dive boats can get there in 10 minutes. 6-seat golf cart rental available for $60/day, 4 door Jeep Wrangler rental available for $120/day. Let our on-site concierge take care of all the details for you for a relaxing and worry free stay. The concierge will coordinate optional amenities such as excursions, private transport to/from the airport, daily "house-mom" breakfast preparation, private chef services, on-site massage services, and local transportation (to excursions or nearby Tamarindo for example.) The Villa Potrero estate consists of a large main house comprising 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 1 full kitchen and 2 kitchenettes. The home may be rented in whole to accommodate up 18 guests or the home can be rented as a 3 bedroom and a 4 bedroom separately - please inquire if one or another of these configurations is of interest to you. This listing is for the entire 7 bedroom home. The 4 bedroom guest suite and 3 bedroom guest suite can be reserved separately, inquire if either of these options is of interest to you. Villa Potrero is in a beach community within walking distance of several great restaurants such as Hemmingway’s, Nita Coffee, Cerveceria Independiente (Brewery), La Forketta, MerKdo (Grocery) and the sailing center. A few minutes’ drive takes you to El Tiki, Coco Loco, Surf Box (Coffee), Sentido Norte, and the Fruit Stand. So many great options nearby! The Flamingo marina is on the south end of the bay offering sunset cruises and world-class fishing.

Fabulous Family Vacation

Our family LOVED staying at Villa Potrero. The house layout was perfect for our large family of 18. The house is updated and clean. The veranda was an ideal place to watch the sun rise and set or to just have morning coffee and listen to the ocean. Good location for walking to restaurants and the property is on a nice sandy beach. The pool and pool toys available to the kids was a hit. The large back yard was a perfect place for the kids to play. Arturo, the house manager, was extremely helpful in all ways! He gave us useful information, arranged transportation for excursions and answered any questions we had. He is a gem!!! Our family gave this vacation a 10 out of 10! Thank you for a memorable experience.

Perfect House for Large Family Trip

We traveled with our 20-something kids and their partners - 13 total in our group. The house and grounds were perfect - plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms, spacious and varied common areas (where people could be together or find some quiet areas), a well-stocked kitchen (and big bbq), outside game tables, a pool with pool toys, and of course right on the beach with kayaks, SUPs, boogie boards, etc. We had a blast. Arturo, the concierge, helped with rental cars, airport transportation, all activities, and recommendations pre-trip and during the trip. Housekeeping was available throughout. The neighborhood is great. Are there glitzier houses for rent? Maybe. But this one was perfect - a 10/10 experience for us.

I can hardly put into words how incredible this home is. It truly exceeded all our expectations. The owner and the staff Arturo, Martin, Venite were helpful and genuinely excellent, going above and beyond to accommodate our every need. With a group of 10, we had some unique requirements, and the staff attentiveness and the care provided by the housemom Mary, Julie and chef Kattya made us feel completely at ease. We felt like we were truly at home. It was heartwarming to see how dedicated the staff was—they became like family to us. Every request was met with a quick and kind response, making our stay even more special. , and we can’t wait to return. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us; it meant the world to us. Slice of paradise

This home and location is a true gem on the beaches of Potrero - the upstairs with 4 lovely rooms each with a private bath was perfect for the adults in our group. The lower level was just the right set up for the 6 younger people in our group (ages 17-22). The pool was awesome for when we needed some shade or time away from the ocean. We walked the beach every day loved getting to the restaurants in town that way. Arturo and the rest of the team at the house were so great and available to help us in anything we needed. Highly recommend this home and hope we are able to return!

Beach Vacation

We rented this beautiful home with a group of friends. Convenient location to small market and restaurants. The kitchen was very well equipped, we made several meals and found everything we needed to cook. The house and outdoor space was large so we had plenty of area to spread out to enjoy our time. The house manager Arturo responded immediate to questions about activities and restaurants. Wonderful Xmas Holiday

Our family of 14 found the villa to be perfect. Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and places to gather. There were two dining tables, one indoors and another outdoors, that accommodated all of us. Arturo and all the help saw that all our needs and wants were taken care of. The teens enjoyed the short walk into town. Fabulous holiday!

Great house on the beach

This is a great house right on the beach with great boogie boarding right out front. There were 10 of us ranging in ages from 10-80 years old. There was plenty of room. The house is well laid out and stocked with everything we needed. Communication was easy. The owner and property manager were very responsive. In all a 5-star experience.

What a beautiful place!

The villa and property are beautifully maintained! The house is very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need! Our teenage grandkids loved all the sports gear and the beach right at our fingertips! We hope to go back!!

Costa Rica Bucket List Friends Trip

Oh where do I even Begin..... Arturo, Martin, Poco (dog)!!!! We loved them all! They were there on a dime anytime you needed anything, including Poco (who meet us for breakfast down the street :-)) Arturo booked our catamaran and was very helpful when the catamaran people messed up our reservation...I reached out to Arturo he answered immediately and they jumped into action once they heard Arturo :-) I am in awe over the property, the kind people who came to clean up for us, the owner.....We will be back and I would stay no other place!!!!! Thanks again for everything and helping make our vacation, Unforgettable!!!!!

Family getaway!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! My family of 8, 23 yrs to 65 years loved our time in Costa Rica! The house is beautiful and immaculate!! The location, yard and beach are breathtaking!! We all went for a daily sunset swim in the ocean! Arturo was great at helping to plan adventures and keeping the house and yard secure and beautiful!

Overall our stay here was great. 14 of us went there to celebrate turning 70. The upstairs area of the house (with 4 bedrooms and all of the living spaces) was really wonderful. We loved using the large kitchen for meals and sitting outside on the beautiful porch area in the evenings for sunsets. The downstairs area (3 bedrooms, 2 baths) was not as nice. The rooms were a bit darker and not as upgraded as those upstairs. Several of the bulbs were out in the room and it was difficult to see what was in the closet! This was reported to Arturo, the house manager but was never remedied during our stay. Arturo was usually very helpful and responsive with most of our needs.The meals we had prepared for us were excellent and enjoyed by all, especially for our birthday celebration dinner! Concerns:The main issue for us was that there was construction going on next door. It was on the other side of the wall of the upstairs bedrooms. Very loud construction started around 7 AM most days and did not make for a relaxing atmosphere. Construction dust would fly around. The property doesn't really have much control over that but if we had known about it, we would have made a different choice. It did impact our enjoyment of this house.ATV--one of them was not safe to drive; this was reported and taken off of our bill. They took it for repair.Overall a beautiful place with a few issues to consider.

Fantastic stay and wedding location!

Villa Potrero was a fantastic place to stay. The house was amazing and beautiful! It has all the amenities and and was in the best location close to everything. We hosted our wedding at the house in the back yard and it was absolutely amazing. The guests loved the space and enjoyed the mixologists that Cori and Arturo provided as well as the picturesque sunset. The house was plenty big enough for our entire wedding party.

14 friends + Arturo = an amazing 40th birthday

We chose Villa Potrero to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience. We are forever thankful for Arturo for organizing our chef experiences, transportation and excursions. Several in our group are already looking at rebooking for their next family vacation! Every employee of the property we encountered made us feel like family and wanted us to have the best Costa Rica experience possible. This place is a must stay!

3 week Family Reunion

The house, pool, yard, beach and proximity to restaurants and shopping more than met our expectations. There was plenty of room for our group of 17 with ages ranging from 6 months to more than 70 years. The on site access to a manager and the daily housekeeping absolutely exceeded expectations. And the sunsets were magical!

Pura Vida

We brought our family of 17 to celebrate my 70th birthday. Villa Potrero was perfect in every way. Arturo and the rest of the staff were so friendly and easy to work with. We brought in a chef for one night (Kattya), and had a wonderful meal. We were able to do a family picture on the grounds and beach,(Paul the photographer was great). These were all set up by Arturo. Loved running around to town on the golf carts. Recommend renting them. Our sunsets were gorgeous! Every one of our family had an amazing time and would definitely stay again - besides Paco the house dog misses us already - he likes house treats. Our stay was for two weeks and was not long enough!!!

Perfect house for a large group

This rental was top notch for our big group of 14 adults. Very nice, cool, & clean. Judy provided daily cleaning for the place & she was wonderful! So friendly & worked so hard! The pool was great to have since, although the property is right on the beach, most of the group would not get in the pacific ocean with the dark sand & dark water. We are all white beach, blue or emerald water, want to see what's in the water atound us kind of people. Lol. But you can't go wrong with the property itself - you will love it!

Best house ever

This home was perfect for our family. It was clean, had many toys, including kayaks, bikes, a pool table and foosball. Arturo and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. From stocking our refrigerator to driving us all around the town and surrounding area. The beach, right outside our back yard, along with the pool provided much relief from the heat. We look forward to a return visit in the near future.

Great house for a group!

This property was perfect for our group of 13. Each couple got their own room and bed. The downstairs rooms are mini suites with coffee makers and such. Martin got out the kayaks and paddle boards every morning for us to use on the beach. The pool was big enough for our group and had enough lounging around the pool for everyone at the same time, which I feel isn’t typical. There was also a Bluetooth sound system at the pool which was great! Overall, would absolutely recommend this property and host!

Pura Vida Paradise

We adored our time at this beautiful home in Playa Portrera! This clean, spacious house is so well designed for a big group with many comfortable corners to curl up and read, nap or just take in the view. The bedroom/bathroom layout is ideal for multiple families/groups of friends, and the communal spaces are generously sized for dinners together & card games into the evenings. In addition to the beautiful house and great location (easy walk to restaurants, mercado etc..) we can't say enough about Arturo and the full team at the house that took such incredible care of us for our week long stay. From meals to massages to airport transfers everything was incredible and we felt so wonderfully cared for. We can't wait to come back - one of our favorite spots ever!

Exceptional home away from home

As so many other reviewers have stated, this well designed, beautiful and spacious beachfront property stands head and shoulders above other similar rentals on its own, but when the amazing staff is added it becomes even more of a special place. Arturo, Yury and Martin were always accommodating, their "can do attitude" and smiles were genuine. They play a big part in elevating Villa Potrero from a wonderful, upscale beachfront property to an EXCEPTIONAL home away from home. Our family has been back in the States for less than a week and we have already rebooked Villa Potrero for next year. That speaks volumes!

We are a large family of 9 (yes, 7 kids!) living in Minnesota and enjoying our Costa Rican paradise Villa Potrero whenever we can. We chose the home for its location on the beach, large yard and its close proximity to Potrero village. Potrero beach has soft sand and is wonderful for swimming and playing with the children.
