The perfect location for a family vacation "up north"! Hilltop Log Lodge sleeps up to 10 adults in 5 bedrooms with room for up to 6 children in additional sleeping areas. This custom built lodge is a true work of art and we are so happy to be able to welcome your family to experience our favorite place on earth. Private swimming dock on our 180' of private Grand Traverse Bay frontage May-Oct. Huge great room for gathering and dining. Game room, patio overlooking the water, outdoor firepit, full kitchen! We love welcoming families and are grateful to our guests who return to vacation at our home year after year!

We are available by phone (call/text) 24/7 during your stay and have an emergency contact in the area in case an urgent need arises.

Located near scenic M22 15 minutes from Traverse City, 5 minutes from quaint downtown Sutton's Bay and 30 minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes. Surrounded by local wineries, cideries, small business shopping, state parks and forests, lighthouses and art galleries.

Parking available for up to 5 cars at the lodge. 2 car garage. 1 mile from the TART bike trail system.

A Family Getaway

A huge log lodge with space for everything a group would want to do and yet it still manages to feel very cozy. We enjoyed the house and views immensely and the location is great for visiting some wineries and getting out to great restaurants. But the kitchen is fully functional so you really wouldn't have to leave at all.

Wedding weekend

Loved our stay at the lodge! It is equipped with everything you need to cook in, and the rooms are spacious and beautiful. We had two families stay for a good friends wedding and the living arrangements were perfect. We had a bonfire the last night and were treated to some fabulous and unexpected fireworks on the lake. Definitely would book again.

Overall, a beautiful place. However, there are some items that do need some attention. but if those would be addressed, it would be a definite five star all the way. Accommodations are very comfortable, large gathering area, but also quiet areas where you can get away from the group if you would like to.

Hilltop Log Lodge was wonderful!

This might be the cleanest vrbo we have ever rented. It was very spacious and the views of Traverse Bay were gorgeous. The only drawback was the beach/swimming area. The water level was a bit low and that may be why the dock area was not at all inviting for those wanting to swim. There was a foul odor and a lot of debris on the beach and a lot of grass/reeds growing off the end of the dock. But everyone in our family of 7 agreed they would rent this gorgeous house again.

Annual Siblings Weekend

We feel so blessed to have found this home for our annual siblings' weekend getaway. There were ten of us who stayed, and this beautiful log cabinet accommodated us and exceeded our expectations by providing all of the amenities we could have needed. This log home was spacious which gave all of us plenty of space to be together or have some private time. The home is absolutely beautiful and is decorated as a piece of art. The grounds and views of Grand Traverse Bay were amazing. We highly recommend this home to anyone coming to the area! Thanks Lauren for hosting us!

Amazing!!!

The Hilltop Log Lodge is an incredible log home with tons of space. Lots of room to spread out and enjoy a variety of activities. The lodge is very well-appointed with all the amenities you could possibly need. Everything was extremely clean. Beds were very comfortable with quality bed linens. This was one of the nicest VRBO's we have ever stayed in. Would definitely stay again! You will not be disappointed with a stay at Hilltop Log Lodge!!

Family weekend

Property is amazing. Large high-end log cabin with great spaces and nice comfortable furniture. Bedrooms very nice. We were a party of 8 and it was just right size-wise. Loved the outdoor fire circle. Perfect base of operations for all the adventure that Sutton’s Bay and Travers City have to offer…biking, hiking, views, wineries, breweries, restaurants. We’ll be back!

Awesome property

This house was spectacular! It was laid out nicely with privacy for everyone. The kitchen had everything we needed…including spices…sometimes we have had to buy even salt and pepper at other houses. The basement game room had more games than we could get to in just 1 week. If there was any negative, it would be crossing a 55 mph road to get to the dock. Overall, we were very happy!

Beautiful Stay!!

We had an amazing stay at Hilltop Lodge. It lived up to all of the five-star reviews. It was so beautiful and had the most incredible views. The house was well-stocked and every detail well thought out. It had so much room that our family could each have our own space while also having lots of great areas to come together. The furniture and beds were so comfortable they just made you want to cozy in.Everything was of the highest standards. We loved to have our morning coffee out on one of the many outdoor areas while enjoying the view and to also sit on the deck and watch the sky turn colors at sunset. Suttons Bay was just a few minutes away. It, and the surrounding area, was also incredibly beautiful with many options of things to do and wonderful restaurants. There was something for everyone. We were all sad to leave and would love to come back someday.

Absolutely spectacular. This vacation home overdelivered on our expectations. The house is beautiful, spacious and so well-equipped. It's set in the woods, surrounded by calming greenery and soothing birdsong with breathtaking vistas of Lake Michigan. Inside, everything is so well-appointed to make for the most comfortable stay. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked with everything you'll need and wish for, including well-honed chef's knives, serving bowls and platters of every size, multiple cutting boards, a food processor, a hand blender and upright blender, a microplane, All-Clad and Le Creuset pots and pans, and more. We love to cook and took full use of the incredible kitchen offerings. It was such a pleasure to enjoy our family meals on the deck overlooking the verdant trees and the lake at a short distance. Betsey, the property manager, was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. It was a truly wonderful vacation and we would be delighted to return, and definitely highly recommend.

We purchased Hilltop Log Lodge recently from the original builders/owners. It has been lovingly maintained for over 40 years and is a true work of art. Your family can spread out over the 6 spacious bedrooms, play pool and ping pong in the game room, relax on the world's best couches (we promise) in the great room in front of the fire, enjoy dinners on the covered porch overlooking Traverse Bay or spend the day enjoying our new dock while swimming and boating. There is a trail down to the water that kids love exploring, a huge fireplace in the great room or an outdoor firepit overlooking the water, and plenty of cozy corners perfect for grabbing some quiet alone time for reading or just being still. Within a 10 minutes drive there are world-famous wineries, local cideries, local artisan food vendors and the charming downtown of Sutton's Bay. Traverse City is only 20 minutes away and the historic fishtown in Leland and the Sleeping Bear Dunes are just across the peninsula. We are 5 minutes from the TART bike trail and bikes and kayaks are available for delivery or local pick-up. Come to the lodge and enjoy an amazing family vacation! We are more than happy to provide local tips!
