Lyn, I am sorry for the stress you told me you experienced during your stay. I responsibly acted upon each of the issues immediately and tried very hard as an owner to resolve them in a timely fashion. Our guest, Lyn, traveled from the UK and I had informed her before she arrived that a full condo complex dryer vent cleaning had been scheduled to start a few days after she was to arrive. She wrote to me that this caused her stress to know this would take place and she had not even gotten on the plane yet. When Lyn and her husband arrived, they were greeted by the condo manager who gave them a tour of the property. This includes reviewing with the guests how the tv, blinds, lights, and other fixtures function. The condo manager logged 18 phone calls from the guests and came to the property to show them these functions multiple times over the first two weeks. We are happy to assist our guests and that is why we have this service, though it is not something we have experienced with prior guests. The dryer vent cleaning is a fire prevention maintenance that all owners must comply with and I assured Lyn the dryer vent company was going to be accompanied by a condo employee when they came into the units. Our condo association management sent out a letter describing to all owners how this would take place. If you were in the unit you would let the association employee and the vent cleaning company in and if you were out of the unit, the association employee would have the key to unlock the unit to do the mandatory maintenance. I wish I could have pinpointed the date and hour of the cleaning better, because the day I thought they were going to clean, they didn’t and they came a couple days later. I had honestly thought the dryer cleaning had already taken place. At all times during the vent cleaning the unit was securely monitored by the condo association employee. Even so, the guest said it caused her stress that the cleaning had taken place when she was out of the unit. I apologized to her for the stress it had caused her. Lyn contacted my condo manager that the sink in the hallway bath had a drain plug that was not tight so when her husband would shave in that sink and try to plug the drain , it wouldn’t stay filled with water long enough and so it was quickly replaced. This repair took two visits to complete and I know this is an inconvenience to have repairs done during your stay. The first week of December Lyn emailed me to tell me the neighbor downstairs was having a loud gathering with loud music. She informed me she was making recordings of the music. I told her I would look into the party and inquire with management. I learned that the neighbor downstairs had an Association approved Christmas party where the Board of Directors himself had attended. The neighbors stated that at 7:30 PM my guest was knocking on their door and complaining that the Christmas party music was too loud and again came back at 8 PM. The neighbor said that Lyn informed them of how difficult it was getting to get to the US for this vacation and was very emotional. My neighbor told Lyn that the party was within code and and would do her best to accommodate her frustrations. I asked my neighbor if she was going to have any more Christmas parties and since she was not, I relayed this information to Lyn. Lyn emailed me that she and her husband were trying to plan how they would come back next winter for three months. But she would also at the same time say these instances that occurred during her stay had caused her stress I don’t think there is anything else we could have done as owners to have assisted this guest. It is very unfortunate Lyn was so upset by these instances she left such a poor rating of the condo. The condo is a beautiful and peaceful place to vacation and leave your cares behind. I understand people want everything just right when they are on vacation. And we try our best to make that happen. My husband and I always say we enjoy sharing the condo with nice people who can take care of the condo when we can’t be there ourselves. We have found these past 12 years that our guests have been very happy and have come back year after year. CourtneyLanders

VRBO does not require owners to supply bath soaps. We were so surprised by these comments we reached out to the guest and to VRBO. We can only say that we believe this guest was upset enough about no bath soaps that he left this dishonest review regarding the cleanliness of the dining chairs. Due to being on the ocean, outdoor furniture can take wear and tear from the salt air and is continuously replaced. The current dining set happens to be different than what was in the home when this guest stayed. We have guests that return every year and it is important to us to take care of our guests.
