Lady of Dare's oceanfront pool has colored lights that sparkle for evening swims and is near a family picnic area with tiki bar and cabana half bath. Your VIPs will awake to majestic sunrises in this charming Lady's two oceanfront bedrooms on the lower level. Each opens to a furnished deck with panoramic ocean views as you relax in a bubbly 6-person hot tub with color changing lights. Both are king master suites. This level also includes a full hall bath, 1 king master bedroom with furnished deck, and 1 king. The kids will love the kid's bedroom with pyramid bunk (sleeps 3) and fun kids play area. Spectacular oceanfront views greet you from her 2nd level great room with a 55" LCD Smart TV with BOSE home theater system and office nook. Enjoy Outer Banks cuisine in a dining area that seats 14 next to her fully equipped, upscale kitchen for a family gourmet chef. Nearby is a screened nautical themed bar to wine, dine, and enjoy gorgeous sunsets. A king master bedroom and a convenient powder room is also on this level. Step up to her tower/game room for breathtaking ocean views and your choice of dining, watching beachgoers, TV, DVDs, movies, or playing PlayStation 3, poker, or games. Make a date with "Lady of Dare". Home is located on the extremely popular Ocean View Drive.

Recent renovations: Expanded pool area, new tiki bar with mini fridge and cabana outdoor half bath. Kitchen completely renovated with new cabinets, granite counters, and new stainless steel appliances, including additional beverage center and extra refrigerator space. New full bathroom giving the home 4 master suites. Half bath added upstairs to the second level and the existing 4 bathrooms fully renovated with new vanities, granite counters, new custom tile showers, and more.

This property has a pool that can be heated for $600. When pool heat is purchased, heaters are set to 85 degrees, but pool temperature cannot be guaranteed. Pool is open April 1st - October 31st.

Fabulous house

A great place to stay. Three couples and four friends, bicycling the entire length of NC Route 12 spent a single night at Lady of Dare. The house was a perfect fit for us. Plenty of bedrooms, beds, bathrooms, a full kitchen, super deck (space with) a great view of the ocean which we really enjoyed after a long day pedaling. Storage for the bikes was a breeze (under the house). Russ was a great host accommodating our early arrival time. If we ride Rte. 12 again, we will definitely stay at Lady of Dare.

Lady of Dare 2025

We have stayed at Lady of Dare multiple times but this was our first trip staying there under the management of Hatteras Island Vacation Rentals. It was nice and smooth with no hiccups. The property is in a perfect spot tucked right behind the dunes and moments from the Beach and Pier in Avon. Altogether, the perfect house for a relaxing family vacation.

Our family was so blessed by our week long stay at Lady of Dare. At first my middle son 32 years old) complained about the cost and said we could “save money by renting a house NOT on the beach “. Although he is correct about money, out of his own mouth 2 days into the trip he said “this was so worth it”. All 7 of us couldn’t agree more and if we could personally recommend it to anyone we would say go for it…also our 2 Dachshunds had thie time of their lives..

Our check in process was seamless. The kitchen needed to have missing/damaged items replaced…we contacted the owner who was very responsive and offered to have someone come out right away. We opted not to and make do with what we had. The WiFi is great throughout the house.

Perfect home for family memories!

We totally enjoyed our vacation in this beautiful home. It was perfect for everyone - the swimming, fishing, the pool, the hot tub, absolutely a great place to hang out and make family memories!! Everything was perfect - great kitchen set up and the multiple refrigerators for drinks and the fun tiki bar by the pool. Just perfect!! The whole family is saying we need to come back to your home again!

Lady of Dare is well appointed

Thoughtfully appointed beach house with six bedrooms. The pool area with the tiki bar, outdoor showers and toilet was a nice respite during the heat of the day. The kitchen with new appliances was big enough to feed a dozen. The views of the beach and the pier made it a special place to gather. The game room on the top floor was great for kids or a parent to get on a zoom call. The back porch bar area was cool to take in the evening sunset. All around good beach house; maybe the upstairs master mattresses can use an update but all around good place for families to vacation.

Location was perfect

The house is in a great location, has amazing views and the kitchen was well equipped. We cook most meals since we go during winter and we had everything we needed. The layout is great for friends or families lots of room to have your own space or come together as group. We had two issues during our stay: The first issue was check in. Our door didn't work, the help desk accidentally hung up on us two times, after multiple phone calls and texts and our contact Russ pushing remote unlock continuously the door opened. We never were able to successfully use the front door. A handyman came to fix it but never worked for us. It was fine we used the back sliders. The second and bigger issue was the crew that came to reside the house on our first full day. At 9:30am a crew of people showed up to reside the entire house. It took hours for the contacts to send out someone to stop the process. The noise was so loud! When they left half of the siding was gone, a huge tractor was in the driveway blocking one side of covered parking and the middle deck with the hot tub was left unusable We called Russ again (too many calls & texts to count) explained the situation and crew came out to clean but that crew didn't turn on the hot tub so another crew had to come out. We lost an entire day of use of the deck and hot tub. It worked but was ugly. No one offered a credit for our lost day but they did apologize. They were very nice to us but we spend a day under construction.

Great family Thanksgiving in a wonderful house.

You have spectacular views of the ocean and the Hatteras Pier (couple of hundreds away) from the decks of the house. House is laid out with large bedrooms with baths and a room with a very nice bunk bed for the younger ones. Had Thanksgiving at the house with 11 people and had plenty of room to enjoy the day and watch NFL games on the large TV's throughout the house. A very cool Tiki Bar has a TV as well. The hot tub was easily accessible for those staying at the house. Kitchen has new appliances and well stocked with plates, silverware, pots and pans etc. Very easy access to the beach with beach chairs, toys, boogie boards all available. Great house to spend time with friends and family. Owner, Russ, is always in contact with you to see how things are going and if you have run into any issues. Recommend this house.

Lady Of Dare

“Lady of Dare” was an incredible stay for myself and my extended family. Altogether, we had a group of 10 and two large dogs. We couldn’t believe the fair price of this house for our stay when we were planning and acted quickly to reserve our week. Man are we glad we did the property has everything you could possibly want for an OBX beach vacation. Hot tub, pool, multiple decks, plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms for privacy, large open living space, HUGE deck bar by the pool, outdoor showers AND bathroom. The list could continue on. Great location next to Avon fishing pier. Close enough to shops and restaurants but far enough that we had 100 yards of beach to ourselves everyday. I can’t say enough about “Lady of Dare”, it exceeded all of our expectations in every way. Both Russell and Hannah were incredibly responsive anytime we had questions or concerns and made sure they were resolved immediately. We will be back again as I can’t recommend “Lady of Dare” enough! Thanks Russ!

Family Beach Trip

Great location. Probably not for the faint of heart when it comes to climbing all the stairs! Overall inside condition of the house was great. Outside seems a little worn and needs some attention.... specifically the pool and condition of the siding...paint and pressure washing would go a long way for first impressions. However, we all had a great time and would recommend this property for large families or groups. Russ was very attentive and communicated with us numerous times asking about our stay.

2024 Family Beach Trip

Lady of Dare was a spacious home with plenty of room for a large family gathering but also has areas for privacy as needed. The bathrooms appeared to have been recently updated and were done so tastefully. The pool was perfect for staying cool when the beach was too much. We loved using the tiki bar which had a modest sized refrigerator for refreshments. The location was convenient to shopping for necessities. There was a fun jigsaw puzzle with notes from previous guests that we enjoyed reading. We did not finish the puzzle.

Best week ever!

We had our three kids, son-in-law and two grandkids together for the week. This location absolutely can’t be beat. The house amenities offered something for everyone with plenty of room for privacy and alone time.

Great stay, less tourists!

We had a great stay in Avon! It was very quiet and not as busy as the other towns. Every necessity is located in town and we went to small mini golf/go karts in Buxton. The ocean was beautiful and much calmer than Nags head. It was a 1 hour drive to most sight seeing places or excursions. It would be helpful if there was a propane grill and if the front left burner worked on the stove. Some of the decking and tiles around the pool need repair. We would 100 % stay here again!

Fun week at the beach

We had a great family time at lady of Dare to celebrate Mother's Day and my wife's birthday. Everyone enjoyed the privacy afforded by all of the bedrooms and bathrooms.The kitchen was well stocked. We rarely left the property except to go the the grocery store. The beach was great for walks. We spent most of the time around the pool. The first night we watched the Northern lights from the "cupola."

OBX - Lady of Dare

This is a great property. Not only is the view and location spectacular, the house is very well maintained and has everything you need for a comfortable vacation. The kitchen is very well stocked and I’m using some ideas from the kitchen in my own home. Russ is very responsive and it’s a great location on Hatteras Island. I’m looking forward to my next stay at the house and Avon.

Activities on the island abound with world-class fishing, kiteboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, unique shopping, hiking and so much more! The surfing breaks are some of the best on the East Coast, and birders and kayakers enjoy the scenic Pamlico Sound.

Visitors will find many locally-owned shops, art galleries, and restaurants, as well as putt-putt and ice cream shops. A vacation on Hatteras Island is a laid-back, relaxing experience highlighted by sunrises over the ocean and sunsets over the sound. Come for a visit this year!.
