This past May my family of five spent six delightful days at Poggio Canali. We could not have found a more ideal villa or location from which to explore Tuscany. Having spent several days in Venice, we were looking forward to having a bit more room and being surrounded by beautiful countryside, and Poggio Canali surpassed our expectations in every way. Upon arrival we were greeted by Rose, the owner, and Michele, the caretaker, who gave us an orientation to the house and environs. Indeed, months before our trip Rose provided a comprehensive list and review of local restaurants, wineries, markets, shops, sites to see, and other general information about the Chianti region. We arrived at Poggio Canali shortly after a storm had passed through the area and knocked out the WiFi connection in the house. To the relief of my three adult children, Rose provided us with a temporary mobile hotspot so they could still connect to the internet! Both Rose and Michele could not have been more friendly and accommodating to our needs during our stay. Michele is also an accomplished chef, and we wish we had been able to stay a few more days at Poggio Canali so that he could have cooked us a meal from one of his many extensive menus. This renovated country house is beautifully furnished and decorated, well-equipped with modern amenities, and is also very comfortable, with a big open kitchen and adjoining sitting area on the first floor, and another large sitting area upstairs, which was a nice spot for relaxing and reading before bed. The views of rolling hills, villas, vineyards and olive groves from the house, large courtyard and pool patio are truly breathtaking, and the location is perfect for visiting Florence, Siena, Pisa and the multitude of enchanting hilltop towns in Tuscany. I recommend Poggio Canali without reservation, only wish we could have stayed longer, and hope to return some day. Thank you, Rose, for sharing your wonderful house with us.
