Casa Mono Alegre translates to Happy Monkey, which you will feel as soon as you cross its threshold.
Looking westward, it is perched at 330 meters (about 1,000 feet) above sea level and offers a 270° view of the Pacific Ocean. Looking toward the other three compass points you will see Mono Alegre is surrounded by thousands of acres of first-growth pristine jungle.
It is a rarely found jungle-immersive experience!
Casa Mono Alegre is located 5 km from the Costenara. Much of the road is paved with asphalt. The final 2 km is an unpaved, well-maintained road. It is steep in several places, however. The best vehicle to use is either a four-wheel-drive (4WD) or an all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle.
With sufficient advance notice, arrangements can be made with a local auto rental company to rent a 4WD vehicle for about $50 per day.
