Springfield is a quiet, safe countryside with small town friendliness and is close to many attractions in central Kentucky. It is also less than an hour to both Lexington and Louisville. Springfield, Kentucky is known for being the ancestral home of Abraham Lincoln. The town is the gateway to Lincoln Homestead State Park, which is the site of Lincoln's childhood home and the blacksmith and carpentry shops where he worked.
