Great home base

My sister and I enjoyed our summer stay at the farmhouse. Communication leading up to the stay and check in was clear and easy! The house itself was well-equipped - (we cooked a lot) - and we loved the aesthetic of the decor. It was clean and calm - a great home base for us as we explored the Adirondacks and visited friends and family in the area. Beds are super comfortable and we loved the view of the mountains and lake through the windows.

Absolutely delightful

The Farmhouse was beautiful! The house was perfect for a week getaway for two best friends to enjoy for a week. Maura and Dave have created a beautiful and well appointed space. The house was spotless, the view was spectacular, the beds comfortable and the house well stocked with all that we needed (a definite perk). One of my favorite places was the kitchen, which looked out at the view. Making our meals was no chore as I looked at the lake and mountains out the bank of windows. Maura and Dave sent a comprehensive list of things to do. We did many of the hikes they suggested, went to the farmers/crafters market in Speculator on Thursday, enjoyed the lake and the nice 4 mile loop around the lake. The neighborhood was super quiet and peaceful as well. We both would stay here again and also any of Maura and Dave’s properties. Thank you Maura and Dave for creating a haven for us to share!

Loved our visit

Beautiful farmhouse with everything we needed. Kitchen well appointed, comfortable beds. Home was very clean. Gorgeous views of the lake. Not as easy as we had expected to get the kayaks across to the lake, but we managed. Plenty of hikes nearby. Hard to leave!

Absolutely lovely lake home

This historic home offers loads of comfort and charm. It was sparkling clean upon arrival and offered everything we needed. It is an old farmhouse that has been lovingly restored (new kitchen, baths) and beautifully decorated/maintained. The lake view is PICTURE PERFECT! The lake entry near the property is challenging for anyone with mobility issues but there is a community beach nearby. Lovely spot overall and hosts were great about checking to make sure we had what we needed.

This is a wonderful home in a beautiful location. Everything was just perfect. Enjoyed swimming and kayaking on the lake. Great hikes in the area. The farmhouse is charming and comfortable.

Wonderful Summer Getaway

Very charming and well appointed home with pretty view of lake Algonquin. Everything we needed in a home away from home: music, great wi-fi , plenty of books and games (Catan, Ticket to ride, etc.), canoe and kayaks, , super sharp kitchen knives and nice supply of equipment for cooking ( we cooked every night), soft sheets and towels, beautiful outdoor space with flowers, trees, and fire pit. Well situated location for exploring a variety of day hike trails (lots of hiking guides and binoculars for borrowing), little lakes, towns, and beaches, just enough shops - souvenirs, local crafty merch, antiquy stuff, groceries - to satisfy the shoppers. Perfect choice for those whose travel group includes both home bodies and outdoor lovers!

Exceptional home.

Every aspect of this rental was first class, from booking to check-out. The hosts were responsive to all enquiries and provided detailed instructions and guidance on house operations. The home was incredibly comfortable and stocked with the necessary equipment to meet all your needs. We loved the enclosed front porch as well as the interior sitting room overlooking the lake. The kitchen was well appointed and designed. Bedrooms were great! We felt the location was wonderful - close to the lake; even though there were neighbors, the house and grounds were very private and you felt secluded; the damn provided the soothing sound of water to go to sleep with after a day on the trails or lake. We staered every day with a walk around the lake and EVERY person we encountered was warm and welcoming. Overall, it was a fantastic 4 days and we hope to return to this beautiful home.

Amazing Property with Spectacular Views! Fabulous Hosts!

We had an absolutely fabulous time at the Farmhouse! The property is even more spectacular than the photos and offers exquisite views of the lake. You can tell there was a lot of care and detail put into the property and it truly felt like a home away from home - we didn't want to leave! The house was equipped with everything we needed for cooking, lounging, and hanging out by the lake including ample kitchen supplies, a grill, a fire pit, a beautiful sun room and tons of outdoor seating. We had planned to go to the small beach in town one day but the backyard was so beautiful and private we ended up staying at the house instead! The house is separated from the lake by a small road (we probably saw fewer than 5 cars go by per day) and it was super easy to launch the kayaks from the bank of the lake right across the street. Maura and David are some of the best hosts I've experienced - they contacted us a few times in the lead up to our trip and sent a detailed email ahead of our arrival containing details about the home and tons of recommendations for activities in the area including hikes, farms and more. We ended up doing a hike and a rail bike tour along the Hudson, both of which they recommended. In addition, they were super responsive while we there the few times we had questions. Overall this was a 10/10 trip and we highly highly recommend staying here. We had such a great time we didn't use the TV and hardly looked at our phones. I have zero complaints and have already been telling friends and family about the fabulous time we had! We hope to return or visit one of their other properties soon!

Farmhouse ADK getaway

We had a great time at the Farmhouse in Wells. The location is great for enjoying the outdoors with a great view of the lake and mountains. Hiking and kayaking nearby. House is very comfortable, beautifully decorated and well stocked. and David. Maura are very helpful and responsive to questions!

Loved our getaway

We can’t put into words how perfect our honeymoon was. We wanted a quiet, out of the way place and that’s exactly what we got. Fully stocked kitchen was great for us as we love to cook. The view was lovely- decor of the house was so well done!! Bed was comfy. Temp of the house perfect. There was not much to do around the Area in late October. But we branched out and found plenty within an hour driving distance, and the drives were very pretty. Our second time staying at one of Dave and Maura’s properties and we look forward to trying more.

The Farmhouse was exactly what sisters and I were looking for! It is very clean, very charming and decorated beautifully. The owners really put a lot of thought into every detail big and small. The views of the lake are just lovely. There is a road you must cross to access the lake, but it is not a big deal. You are literally looking out onto the lake with no visual obstructions. My family and I enjoyed the open floor plan of the kitchen, dining area and the seating area looking out onto the lake. There is a gas fireplace in the seating area, and it not only provided heat but it added charm and a beautiful visual as we prepared our meals, dined, played board games or just daydreamed looking out onto the lake. There were no unexpected hitches to the Farmhouse. We were very pleased. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends. There are stairs to get to the bedrooms so if you have an elderly person in your party that cannot handle stairs, this might not be the rental for you then. If stairs are not an issue, then RENT THIS PLACE! It really was a wonderful experience.

My sister and I had a WONDERFUL time at the Farm House! Very clean, nicely decorated, and a gorgeous view! QUICK TIP: Make sure you look inside the white shed on the first day of your stay! There’s bikes to use, and all the various recycling bins are neatly set up and identified. They have a wonderful recycling program, so be sure to familiarize yourself with all the various recycling bins AT THE BEGINNING of your stay. We didn’t look in the shed until 1 hour before departure, and decided to take all of our trash & recycling home, which was no problem. Can’t wait to come back again! (And there were NO BUGS OUTSIDE! No mosquitos or anything! I was SHOCKED, and pleasantly surprised!! 🤗)

Overall we were very impressed with our visit. House was very clean, organized, everything was clearly marked. I've stayed in a lot of other rentals on Homeaway and VRBO and this was definitely the cleanest and most comfortable of the ones I've visited. We love the Adirondacks, and the Wells/Northville/Speculator area does not disappoint. Plenty of hiking, fishing, waterfalls, swimming and many other things to see in the area. Only draw backs were the hydroelectric plant being so close, and the road that runs between the house and the lake. But they were easy to overlook between the view of the lake and the condition of the house. We highly recommend this rental!

Maura's family has had a camp in Wells since 1950's. We started our rentals by renovating a little trailer overlooking the lake. It came out so cute and rented all the time, so we continued to purchase/renovate, for a total of 7 properties now!

The views of lake and mountains can be enjoyed from front yard, kitchen, sitting room and master bedroom.
