Twin Birch Resort - The Red Laker Cabin: Lakefront with Dock, Rowboat, and Kayak!

The Red Laker Cabin is a charming and traditional cabin right on Little Platte Lake! It is part of Twin Birch Resort and the rental includes full access to the resort's amenities, including your own rowboat and kayak! There is also a dock and firepit at the resort that is shared among all 4 cabins. The cabins are all technologically updated with high-speed and live streaming Roku television. This charming little lakefront cabin truly provides for a fun, peaceful, and relaxing getaway!


NEIGHBORHOOD:

The property is in a quiet neighborhood of lakefront homes and resorts, with Big Platte Lake on one side of the road and Little Platte Lake on the other side of the road. Boating, kayaking, and fishing are very popular on both lakes. Peterson Beach on Lake Michigan is also only 4.6 miles from the resort!

Outside of the immediate area, the property is close to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Lake Michigan, Crystal Lake, Traverse City, and a lot of cute little beach towns in the area like Beulah, Frankfort, Empire, and Glen Arbor. There are all kinds of hiking trails in the area and outdoor activities of all kinds are very popular. The area truly provides for a great vacation getaway!


GUEST ACCESS:

Rental of the cabin includes full access to the resort's outdoor grounds and amenities!


TRANSIT:

It is recommended that guests have their own vehicle.


PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

(1) There is a flight of stairs from the cabin down to the lake, so accessibility may be an issue for some folks.
(2) Guests are welcome to bring their own motors or rent one for use with the row boats. Crystal Lake Marina in Honor and Beulah rent boat motors. Motors should be 10 Horsepower or less and must be short shaft because Little Platte Lake is VERY shallow.
(3) Fans are provided, but the cabin does NOT have air conditioning.
(4) Peterson Beach on Lake Michigan is only 4.6 miles from the resort!
(5) Pickleball courts located at Village Park, Beulah MI & Market Square Park, Frankfort MI

Fully stocked beyond expectations. Seems they knew all the little things we'd forget. I came for a place to stay during a vacation and quickly realized this is its own vacation. Great fishing. Owners are really nice. Peaceful and quiet. Sorry I broke your ashtray....

The view was so relaxing and peaceful. It was as described and there were plenty of things to do in the area. Water was hot, no AC (which was totally my mistake) not the fault of the host. I just missed it. The shower was small and water seemed to be from the lake. My dad felt the temp was too cold, but he lives in Florida now and isn't used to the cool weather. We had a good week overall. Would definitely be back.

Opinion

Pros: Very nice cabin with great lake views and nice screened porch. Cons: Kitchen light didn't work making cooking in the bark not fun and the porch light did not work. I emailed about the lights as they may not have known. Beds are way to small for two adults and placed up against the walls making someone against the wall to crawl over the other person for nightly bathroom breaks. Very few outlets except cord hiding under the beds. Tv is very small to view from the couch. No private firepit. Parking is very small for even one car. My view is the unit is high priced for the amount of comfort thus i will not rent that unit again. This is my honest opinion.

We loved staying in the 1947 Red Laker. Definitely nostalgic. We love the Little Platte area. Canoeing at Riverside, bicycling in Grand Arbor, swimming at watching sunsets at Lake Michigan. We appreciated having the grill for our dinners. Thank you for the perfect weather.

Very clean quaint cottage on a beautiful lake peaceful area loved to hear the loons. Lot's of hiking trails close by. Loved the screened in porch with swing to have coffee in the morning. We'll appointed kitchen area but could use some seasonings(salt pepper etc). All in all beautiful location!

The property was smaller than we initially thought, but it had all the necessities. I thought it would include coffee (bring your own for the coffee maker). It was cute, however no air conditioning and bring bug spray for the bugs. Also bring your own body wash and shampoo. Other than those little things it was a great stay with a great view! It can only hold probably 4 people comfortably, I'm glad it was just me and my husband.

Best kept secret

At the behest of our son we met up at Twin Birch Resort for a picturesque family vacation. We stayed in the red cottage while they stayed in the larger log Cain, the Kodiak. This had to be one of the best and most relaxing places to visit. We loved the rustic cabin with well appointed kitchen and screened porch with swing. The open windows and fresh cool breezes kept us cozy with the hum of fans. Close to the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan sites and the incredible Honor Family Market for the best bras and essentials. We are already planning our next trip.

Twin Birch Resort is a wonderful and traditional northern Michigan resort with a rich heritage. It was started in 1947 and has been owned by the same family since the 1980's. The key feature of the resort is Little Platte Lake and the property leverages all of the lake with a great dock and the provision of both a rowboat and kayak to all guests! There is also a community fire pit on the property. The resort provides for a great getaway for a family, extended family group (renting multiple cabins), couple, or an individual just looking for a little relaxation.

Note that the property is managed for the owners by Agape Vacation Rentals, which is based in nearby Beulah, Michigan.
