Hale Honu Steps from the Ocean at Maunaloa Shores Condo in Hilo!

Enjoy the amazing location of Hale Honu, unit 108 at Maunaloa Shores in Hilo's Keaukaha beach park area! Walk a few feet to the famous Carlsmith Beach Park where you can swim in the clear Pacific ocean. Our condo is named for the sea turtles (called 'honu' in Hawaiian) that frequent our beach. This unit is on the first floor above the lobby is accessed through the building's secure elevators. You'll have views of the swimming pool below and glimpses of the ocean beyond. The surrounding area is lush and green with lovely jungle views from the lanai.

Hale Honu has two bedrooms and one bathroom and sleeps and sleeps up to four guests. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking appliances, range, oven, a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher and a full set of dishes etc. Pick up local seafood and produce from one of Hilo's fresh food markets. Eat at our dining table for four or on the covered condo lanai. Both bedrooms offer a closet and a dresser for clothes storage. The oceanside bedroom has a king sized bed. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed. The bathroom is between the two bedrooms and has a full bathtub with shower, toilet and one sink.

Visit Hilo, Hawaii which still exudes the original charm of 'old Hawai'i' with lush jungle landscapes, ocean parks for relaxing in the Pacific Ocean, colorful farmer's markets with loads of tropical fruits, and enough great restaurants and quaint shops to fill several weeks of exploring. Don't forget to drive to Volcanoes National Park about 45 minutes by car to experience the wonders of an active Volcano. And drive up the Hamakua Historic Coastal Corridor to view dashing waterfalls and plantation era villages. This is where Hawai'i lives!

The location of this rental is perfect! Carl smith is literally steps away, and we had so much fun taking my daughter to explore different areas. There’s an excellent restaurant across the street and it’s close to many other main Hilo spots. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, building feels very safe, and there were lots of fun extras like beach and pool toys, pack and play, etc. The neighbors and other folks in the building were kind and welcoming. Check in was quite easy and straightforward, and we were quickly welcomed by our on island contact via text. We would stay again. Only issues were construction right outside the unit with scaffolding in front of the balcony and workers coming and going and making quite a bit of noise at times, but I assume this is temporary and will be done soon.

The furniture was quite comfortable and the beds were very nice with quality bedding. The ceiling fan would not work without the sconce light on in the guest room so this was hard in a place with no air conditioning. The oscillating standup fan would not adjust in the same room but we made it work. Overall, I recommend this rental but the ceiling fan issue is not acceptable.

We had a fab time. Jack the rooster made sure we woke daily at 6am. A the manager made sure we were safe in our first ever tsunami evacuation. The snorkeling with the turtles in the "back yard" was the cherry on top!

The condo itself was cozy, clean, and very secure. Despite no a/c, tge breeze from the ocean and ceiling fans kept us very comfortable. The pool was nice as well, and laundry room steps from the unit. The location was great as well, less than 10 minutes from Hilo airport and town. I would recommend this to anyone staying on this side of the island.

Steps from Carlsmith and everything you need for an amazing vacation. Home away from home only better. Location is central to everything in Hilo and points North and South. I loved every minute of my stay and will definitely return.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time staying at the condo. Clean, comfortable, and staff that goes out of their way to help. And Carlsmith Beach Park... spectacular! The only thing I would have liked is A/C (which none of the condos in the area have), but it wasn't a sticking point. Pun intended.

Steps away from Carlsmith Beach Park

The unit is lovely and well decorated and furnished. Everything we could want for beach excursions was here from chairs to tote bags. Snorkel and mask too. Great stay! We'll be back!

Wonderful week in Hilo

My husband and I stayed in this condo for 9 days and enjoyed every minute. First of all, Salt Water Vacations staff were wonderful. We had a local liaison introduce herself and was present for any concerns we might have had. They bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable. The condo was very comfortable and inviting. The bed in the main bedroom was so comfortable. Kitchen well stocked. We met many wonderful people there at Mauna Loa Shores. Big shout out to Mr. Gomez, the building supervisor. Extremely helpful. I enjoyed the pool every day and the best part of the day was swimming in the lagoons of Carl Smith park. Right behind the building. Turtles!! beautiful. Will for certain return.

Cute 2 bedroom with all appliances

Cute 2 bedroom next to the best beach on the Hilo side. Close to things with a vehicle or use the bus stop right outside the building. Pool does have limited times, and it’s not lit.

Hale Honu Steps from the Ocean at Maunaloa Shores Condo in Hilo review. The room booking was easy, and the management company was very responsive before and during our stay. The Condo is well-kept and clean. We had a wonderful time during our stay. This place is right next to Carlsmith Beach Park. I loved getting up in the morning and listening to the birds. At night, I like listening to the coquí frogs. They grow on you. Right behind the building is a dense forest to the right and the beach park to the left. You can go swimming or snorkeling in the ocean very close to the building. Rinse off in the shower and then hit the facility pool. We plan on coming back. It is not too far from downtown Hilo, and the Hilo Airport is very close. Thank you for letting us stay. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Must Stay!!!

We stay on this property pretty much every time we go to Hilo. Super easy check in and out. Loved have the beach amenities! Super close walk to 4 mile which is easily one of the best beaches on the Hilo side!

Hilo Time

Thank you for providing access to your home for vacation. The rental was clean and comfortable. We were very close to beautiful parks and the ocean. The lanai was large enough for all 4 adults in our party to enjoy together with a lovely view of the grounds and peaks of the water. We spent time in old Hilo as well as the nearby falls. Convenient location

Comfortable and convenient location. The building is older which might throw some people off, but the condo itself was renovated well and we had no complaints.The jungle view is very nice.

Great place to stay!

Property was very clean and nicely furnished. Amazing location right next to a great beach for snorkeling and watching sea turtles. Condo was very comfortable even without AC.

Maaunaa Kea Shores

The room was well furnished, clean, everything worked and we had a view of the pool and the bay. The washing machines were being replaced so we didn't have a place to wash clothes.
