River Valley Sunset Retreat is the ideal retreat for families and working professionals alike. For families, our 8.75-acre property offers room for kids to explore and make memories, from s'mores around the fire pit to fishing on our private stretch of the Androscoggin River. For professionals, it provides a peaceful, productive escape with reliable high-speed WiFi, dedicated spaces for relaxation, and a serene environment to recharge, all just moments from Western Maine's premier attractions.

A Four-Season Mountain Escape

Nestled near Bethel and Newry, this spacious rental is your gateway to adventure. In winter, you're approximately 20 minutes from world-class skiing at Sunday River. Summer invites hiking in the White Mountain National Forest, paddling the Androscoggin, or exploring the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum. With direct river access and stunning sunset views from the property, every day offers a new experience.

Comforts of Home, In Nature

The open-concept living area is designed for gathering, featuring a 65" Smart TV and comfortable seating. The well-equipped kitchen makes meal prep easy, and three peaceful bedrooms ensure restful nights. The master suite offers a king bed and a private sitting area for extra relaxation.

Step outside to your private oasis. The expansive deck is perfect for dining with a view, while the fire pit below sets the scene for evening stories and stargazing.

Key Details for Your Stay

Maximum Occupancy: To maintain a tranquil environment, we accommodate a maximum of 6 guests and do not permit parties at any given time, as our sensitive septic system cannot handle larger gatherings.

Extended Options: A fifth-wheel or camper can be accommodated in the driveway during Spring, Summer, and Fall (additional fee applies, prior arrangement required).

We visit Maine every summer for my husband's annual family reunion. We have stayed in several vacation homes within an hour from Joao's house but this is our favorite. Not only is the house spacious, clean and comfortable, but it's located on beautiful property with gorgeous views. It is located in a quiet town but there is a Walmart, Dunkin Donuts and other restaurants within a few minute's drive. The kitchen is stocked with spices and has all of the cooking appliances you'll need, including a k-cup coffee maker, slow cooker, and even a waffle maker and hand mixer. There are plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies and laundry detergent, along with extra blankets and pillows. The rooms are spacious, airy and temperature controlled, and landscaping is maintained well (which is very important in Maine as we have experienced ticks in other homes). Our 3 and 9-year old kids enjoyed exploring the library of books and games, as well as the beautiful path down to the river lined with wildflowers. Joao is very responsive to messages, and is great with communications. I truly can't say enough about this property and highly recommend it to those who want to stay in the area. This was our second 2-week stay and we can't wait to rebook future stays. Thank you Joao for opening your wonderful home to our family!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this immaculate property. Everything was very clean and easily accessible. The area around the house was absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful views of meadows and the river. The house was more then enough for the five of us to stay. My kids loved the loft area off the living room. Would definitely look forward to staying here again.

この宿泊施設の特徴

The River Valley Sunset Home is a 20-minute drive from historic downtown Bethel and 15 miles from Sunday River Ski Resort. The house is located in Rumford and only 2.5 miles from Black Mountain where you can snow tubing and ski. The house has a deck and fire-pit, plenty of space to enjoy and relax with friends and family.

While you're near everything you want to do (hiking, skiing, exploring) the property makes it feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere. The large back deck and yard faces the Androscoggin River and Glass Face Mountain that gives you the privilege of enjoying beautiful sunsets.

The main floor contains an open concept plan of living space, that includes a a large 65" Smart TV equipped with Netflix and other options (you can use your own login). WIFI is provided throughout the home. A full bath and one bedroom. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven/range, refrigerator, and microwave. It's stocked with all the basics you might need including coffee maker, toaster, pots/pans, baking dishes, serving dishes, glassware of every type and dishes. A gas BBQ can be found just outside on the deck.

On the main floor there is one bedroom with a queen size bed and a large closet. This bedroom is adjacent to the main floor bathroom of the house. This floor also includes a split A/C unit that covers all living spaces.

The lower level of the house includes a large master-bedroom with a king size bed, a private sitting that includes a smart TV and a full private bathroom with a walk-in-shower. The second bedroom includes a queen size bed with large sofa chair for those who enjoy a peaceful "reading".

The house is located on 8.75 acres of cleared land with two small streams running parallel to the house. The back yard includes a large deck with sitting area and a fire pit at ground level for enjoying s'mores and campfire fun. In the winter you can snowshoe or cross-country ski to the bottom of the property where the river is located.
