We recently stayed in St. Augustine at a property managed by Distinctive Beach Rentals, and the experience was a complete disappointment. The issue that ruined our stay came down to one thing: unclear, poorly written check-in instructions and hidden parking passes that caused our vehicle to be towed.The instructions said a parking pass would be “inside the unit” — yet gave no indication whatsoever of where to find it. There was no mention of a drawer, location, or any visual cue. We searched thoroughly and found nothing. The next morning, our truck had been towed overnight, with our baby’s car seat inside. It was stressful, expensive, and entirely preventable.Hours later, after tearing the place apart, we finally found the pass stuffed deep inside a junk drawer under piles of random papers. If this company expects guests to use parking passes, they should leave them somewhere visible and obvious — not hidden like an afterthought. The lack of clarity and organization here is simply unacceptable.When we contacted management, they refused to take any accountability, instead hiding behind excuses about HOA rules and guest portals. A decent company would have recognized this as their failure and taken steps to make it right. Instead, we were met with defensiveness and indifference.Distinctive Beach Rentals’ disorganization, lack of communication, and disregard for guests’ time turned what should have been a relaxing trip into a nightmare. Book somewhere else!
