All previous reviews seemed too good to be true but they are all 100% accurate! The photographs are very accurate, one of the most beautiful beaches on the whole island really is on your doorstep and it is relatively deserted most days. Peter and Betty are fantastic hosts as others have said, always there if you need anything but also give you your own space. One thing other reviews didn't mention was that (In July/august) the sun rises on the patio pretty late in the afternoon. This was particularly great for us as we aren't early risers and were still able to enjoy a nice late breakfast outside in the shade.
You'll find lots of amazing things in the water if you love to snorkel, overall we saw many different types of tropical fish, crabs, starfish, barracudas, turtles and even a giant, mamma turtle all in the bay. We didn't even have to look very hard, so many amazing sea creatures on your doorstep.
The apartment is essentials only but you won't need anything else - you'll be amazed at the recipes you can cook with just a stove top, get creative! The shops are pretty close however 5-10minutes can feel like an eternity in the hot sun - a car definitely helps in these situations. It was very easy to rent the car for a couple of days from Peter and Betty, stock up the apartment fridge, see others parts of the island and then spend the rest of the trip on your beach sans car.
Some of the best food we ate was at Santana's and Catch A Fire, both a short car journey. We also did attempt to make the 20 minutes walk to the nearest restaurant at night which was quite safe to do (in fact we were offered lifts by locals both times) but be aware you'll need a torch as there are no street lights and little pathway - just be safe!
Overall, we were extremely pleased with our trip, if you're looking to experience real island life in a rural paradise, you'll love it!
