The Flying Honu is located in the heart of Kona three blocks from the Ironman starting line. Built on the fragrant pathway from the mountain to the sea (Mauka to Makai ) it is a great example of Hawaiian single wall construction. Open floor plan with large windows to let the ocean and mountain breezes inn. Large master bedroom with ceiling fan. The lanai sleeping area has two full size beds . We provide everything you will need for your day at the beach mask, snorkels, fins, beach chairs, boogie boards .

The property was spacious and well equipped for our vacation. We especially appreciated the snorkels and other beach gear offered during the stay. The place has a laid back, beachy, hippie vibe that was inviting. You do share the carport with whoever is staying in the room beneath this rental, so it's first come first serve.

From the moment I got there everything was straightforward, from parking to unlocking the front door. The kitchen has everything you need and the unit was incredibly clean and spacious.

The host was nice and checkin was easy. The location is great for Kona activities. The house and neighborhood is pretty run down. One night I called 911 at 3;15 am because of a raging house party on the block. The cops shut it down close to 4am. Also there is a junked truck next to the driveway piled with trash. A weird sweaty shirtless guy was twirling a shovel like a baton in the middle of the street in front of the house on one evening. We visit a couple times a year from Kauai for scuba diving. We will definitely not stay there again.

Hosts were nice, place was very clean and so close to everything. I wished we had an extra night here so we could use the snorkel gear! I loved the patio area - saw a beautiful sunset. It was also perfect for morning coffee. The only thing I would suggest is the host should have turned on the fans since the space was quite warm when we arrived. The decor was nice - felt old school. There were five of us, all adults, and there was plenty of room.
