Beautiful and well stocked!

The property owners were the best to work with! They made sure the house was stocked with shampoo conditioner body wash and so much personalized touches. There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels. Bedrooms all had Alexa in them. The owners reached out several times to check in and offer any assistance. They were so understanding when we had an accident the first night and made the situation not so upsetting. They were the best to work with.

Family Celebration Weekend

This lovely home was the perfect find for our multi-generational family celebration! We enjoyed the porches on both sides of the house and the open-plan indoor gathering spaces, along with the very comfortable bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen for a family that cooks, and plenty of towels (always a premium at the beach!). Cornhole and hammock were a hit with all ages, and there were many more games and books at the ready. Location was convenient to the ferry, marina, lighthouse and mid-island markets, plus many public beach access points. Having two golf carts offered the flexibility to explore further afield, which we appreciated. For most of the group this was our first visit to Bald Head Island, despite having lived in NC for many years. We'd love to return for another visit and we would certainly book Chic Shellter again. Thanks to our hosts for all of the thoughtful touches that made this such a memorable family weekend!

This home is gorgeous. The design is amazing. It feels like staying in a personal home not a rental. There is also beautiful art hung around the home. Hooper was great to work with and always responded right away. We enjoyed Bald Head!!!

I was five years old when my parents built our first home on Bald Head Island. That was well over 40 years ago. As a Wilmington native, we didn't have far to go to get to our vacation paradise, but we felt a million miles away. Our adventures, much like those today, included scavenger hunts, turtle walks, shelling, golf cart drives at dusk to spot wildlife and it felt a little like the Robinson Crusoe novel.

We had electricity, but did not have phones (we used CB radios). There was no grocery store and so we would bring coolers and bins (much like today) and eat whatever my dad and brothers caught that day.

We didn't really have a large Nature Conservancy back then, and if I recall, there was one lady (who we affectionately called "The Turtle Lady") who ran the program. When nests would begin to sink, she would knock on our door and rally the troops. We would head out in the middle of the night in our pjs with our red flashlights to help guide the babies to the sea.

In my teenage years, my grandparents built a house on Silversides. My grandmother and I would spend our days walking from South beach to East and back collecting all of the shells we could find. Sand dollars littered the beaches so much back then that you had to watch your step. It was (and still is) heaven on Earth.

As we grew older, went away to colleges, moved away for work and eventually married and had children, we always gravitate back. I can't explain it, but I doubt I have to, because once you have experienced this Island, you never want to leave. When our children' were small, we owned a Villa and rented it to many happy guests.

My hope is that we can offer a slice of our paradise to you. Thank you for considering our home for your family, friends and vacation. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions, suggestions or a request to book "Chic Shellter". We are honored to host you.
