You and your family can enjoy the beautiful East Texas sunrise and sunset in Emory TX, fish top rated Lake Fork (a public boat ramp is located 3/4 of a mile from our property), watch the deer feeding in the early mornings and evenings, or fish in our pond for Channel Catfish and Bream. You can also visit First Monday Trade Days in nearby Canton. Our home has a 50 amp plug in for EV charging.

The pond is a no swimming pond. Fishing poles are available upon request. PLEASE, NO UNATTENDED CHILDREN AROUND THE POND!
Please leave dirty dishes in the dishwasher. We ask you to use a trivet to sit hot pans on and not directly on the quartz countertops.
The cottage is on a septic system. Leftover food from meals should be disposed of in the trash.

We had a great stay at this cabin and really enjoyed our time. It was a perfect spot for a fishing trip. Very peaceful, comfortable, and exactly what we were looking for.The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We spent most of our time out fishing and it was a great location for that. After a long day on the water, it was nice to come back and unwind.Overall, a very positive experience. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, clean comfortable fishing cabin.

Our hosts have always gone above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and stocked with anything you need to make wonderful memories. If it’s not there, I bet they would get it for you. Besides the cabin, the acreage is just breathtaking. We will continue to stay here on our future getaways!

Lazy 8 is a gem

Lazy 8 is such a neat place especially with all of the extras the property has. The She Shed is such a cute place, the stocked pond, the picnic area and the entire property is a secure area with the gated entrance . We will be coming back. It is also a perfect place for a girls trip

So Sweet

This is sweet and spacious property. I had a few family and friends over and it worked out so well. Plenty of room! The hosts are so nice and very helpful.

The place is beautiful and serene. There are hummingbird feeders hanging on the porch and other feeders throughout the property. The hummingbirds definitely show up. The pond is fun. I caught 2 big catfish. They have an adorable she shed. We did not use it but we did go in and look around. The cottage is very nice inside and out. They have everything you need.Lance and Pat are great hosts and we will definitely stay here again.

Fishing getaway

We were very impressed with the property. Very clean and inviting. The decor was fitting of a country cottage. We were in the area for fishing so we didn’t get to explore the area that much or the property itself as it has a small pond for fishing and a she shed. We both agreed that this would be a great place to take the family next time we’re in the area.

Great East Texas Getaway

The Lazy 8 Cottage is on a beautiful East Texas property. Lance and Pat were the best hosts that I have ever encountered. I usually rent a home by a lake to fish tournaments or for fun, usually with one or both of my sons. This time, I was visiting Lake Fork with my oldest son and we were in a tournament on Sunday. Before we arrived, Lance did an amazing job of communicating all the details I needed to know. Upon arrival, I was blown away with the layout and detail of the property. It was obvious Lance and Pat are detail oriented owners. There was every item we needed to make our trip perfect. There is a washer and dryer, we used the dryer to dry out our rain soaked gear. The kitchen was fully stocked, coffee bar even had an option for frothed cream, and the charcuterie board that was waiting for us was over the top. The location can't be beat. There is a boat ramp right up the road. I will absolutely make this my top choice the next time I return to Lake Fork.

Our favorite VRBO by far! The place is decorated so pretty and absolutely spotless. The beds were very comfortable with soft, smooth sheets. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need. The location is beautiful with the pond and we watched three deer walk by. The hosts even stopped by to introduce themselves and are such a nice, friendly couple. We will be staying here again!

Originally from Carrollton TX, we were introduced to the beautiful East Texas area by some friends. That began our journey of falling in love with the country! We found 8 acres of raw land and purchased the property in 2015. We have spent the last 8 years clearing and developing the site. In 2018 we built our cottage to stay in on weekends and extended vacations. One year ago, we completed construction on our retirement home and moved to our property to live full time.

During our travels in the US and Europe we have always chosen to stay in short-term rentals to get a feel for the area and meet local people. This process led us to our current adventure of hosting our cottage on VRBO.

Our goal is to provide our guests with a relaxing, comfortable, and enjoyable time while they experience beautiful East Texas. We look forward to having you as a guest!

We chose our property because it is in the country, but conveniently located 5 miles from Emory TX. This makes shopping and eating out easy. The renowned Lake Fork is located 1 mile from our property, which provides wonderful opportunities to catch the next Texas lunker bass or a nice stringer of crappie!

Our property is private (gated entry), quiet, and peaceful. It has a stocked fishing pond for our guests use. We have boat parking and charging, outside 50 amp plug for EVs, and fire pit area to relax around.
