Studio Cottage at Lake Road Campground, on the beautiful Mississippi River.

Lake Road Campground is a small RV park nestled along the breathtaking Mississippi River just off Wisconsin's Great River Road in the Village of Trempealeau.

Family-owned and operated, our campground is a little slice of heaven, with nearby access to the river, lakes, hiking trails, Trempealeau's historic downtown, local supper clubs, and more. Located 1 minute from the Trempealeau Boat Launch, our visitors enjoy fishing and boating on the river. You can sit back at your campsite and watch barges come in through Lock & Dam #6, and you can hear the whistle of frequent trains - the full Mississippi River experience!

Cottages are equipped with a full-size fridge, sink, cook top, Kuerig coffee machine, cooking utensils, and breakfast bar. The new mattresses on the queen bed and full-size sofa sleeper are comfy, and you can lay back and enjoy DirecTV and hi-speed wireless internet. All the comforts of home in a rustic atmosphere!

What a perfect place to spend a weekend exploring La Crosse and the beautiful Mississippi River area! My bestie and I loved the cozy cottage and the peaceful campground. It would have been helpful to know when we booked the cottage that we would need to bring our own sheets, pillows, blanket, and towels, but that wasn't a problem. The fire ring was a nice bonus; great for cool evenings. We will stay again!

Lovely quiet cottage!

We loved the cleanliness, location, quietness, and friendliness of the property manager. It was a great value for the money. We will stay again and we highly recommend!

The campground itself is pretty basic, with cheek to jowl RVs. We stayed in cottage #1 and, on check in, everything seemed good. However, upon entering the cottage we could feel the floor sink several inches in the center of the cabin, as if the subfloor was going to disintegrate each time we stepped on it, so we parked our luggage rack over that spot to avoid stepping on it. There is one couch that seats two people and a large TV which worked OK, but only a few feet from the couch so too close for eye comfort. There are no real chairs in the unit, only two stools under the counter so getting relaxed and reading a book was difficult unless someone sat on the bed and after dark, the lighting was too dim to read. Luckily we had planned to dine out both evenings we stayed as the kitchen and supplies were very hit and miss. The Keurig coffee machine is a nice touch and the refrigerator is huge. However, while there were plenty of cooking pots and pans and cooking utensils, the tiny electric cooktop allows for barely one item to be cooked. In addition, there were no dishes, no glassware and no knives, forks or spoons;only three mugs by the coffee machine. The bed was reasonably comfortable for two, and as we both love train whistles, we were happy with the many trains that pass only a few hundred feet away. When someone entered cottage #2 which shares a wall, we could hear every bit of conversation. There is only a metal wall between the units and NO soundproofing.

We are Chris and Rachel, the owners of Lake Road Campground. We love spending time outdoors and traveling with our two kids. One of our favorite adventures was backpacking across New Zealand for three months while pregnant with our oldest! We are so excited to meet you and welcome you to Lake Road - our own little slice of heaven on the Mississippi River!

We purchased Lake Road Campground because we wanted to create the kind of place we'd love to visit ourselves. We love the outdoors and believe everyone deserves a chance to slow down, unplug, and enjoy nature. Our goal is to provide a peaceful place where families and friends can gather around a campfire, explore the area, and make lasting memories. This corner of Wisconsin is one of the most beautiful in the state, with incredible wildlife, the Mississippi River, passing trains and barges, scenic bluffs, and some of the friendliest people you'll meet. We hope you'll experience the same appreciation for this special place that made us fall in love with it.
