Great place!

We got married over at the Eoikia Mansion, stayed here with our bridal party. We were extremely happy with the Granite House! The house had plenty of room for the party and we were able to get ready at there before the big day. The patio is also beautiful, and a great spot for breakfast and coffee!

Overall this property was everything I wanted for my wedding weekend. It was clean, organized and the landscaping was beautiful. However, I do not think the price matches what we got. One of our friends paid 900 for their room and the door wouldn’t even close. When I brought this up with the owner she said the house is old, which I understand, but that it was not clear from the listing that they wouldn’t be able to close their door to have a privacy. Also none of the bedrooms or bathrooms had locks which can be hard for a big group of people sharing a house.

Ludmyla, I am sorry that the property was not a good fit for your group. Understandably, you are not familiar with historic homes which are filled with charm & beauty. We pride oursleves on caring for this property which was fully restored in 2012-2015, keeping in mind the value of retaining originality of this 1877 home. With that comes some not-so-modern comforts, such as locks. Our rates are also VERY competitive with area hotels & B & Bs. You would be hard to find an expansive property such as ours that sleeps 12 and allows for entertaining up to 35 guests in 2 buildings. It was your option to charge your guests a fee. Typically, guests respect the privacy of others when a bathroom is in use. Different culture, perhaps. Thankfully this is the 1st review that contained negativity in 13 years. Many others have appreciated the welcoming enviroment that we have painstakingly created. I wish you the best in your new marriage. Respectfully, Dale Goulekas

Beautiful place to stay

Dale was an amazing host! Kind, caring, and communicative. The house was even more beautiful in person than in the photos, both inside and out. The tavern was also the perfect place to relax and chill in. The house had plenty of space, great bathrooms, and a cute den to enjoy your morning coffee & breakfast. My friends and I had the best time! Would highly recommend, 10/10

My extended family and I stayed at Granite House for my daughter's wedding weekend. The house is absolutely gorgeous, and host Dale and her sister were very accommodating on both check in and check out day. We hosted a brunch for some of the wedding guests who stayed over (elsewhere) at the house, and when we found out about 25 minutes before brunch that a parade was going to close the road so none of our guests could get to the house for at least an hour, they graciously extended check out time so we could clean and pack up without rushing people out the door. All our family and guests were stunned at how amazing the house is-- it felt like the highest of high end properties. The beds were comfortable, the towels were soft, and the house is perfectly set up for entertaining-- although we brought in our food and cups/ plates/ etc, there were ample serving platters and things if we had needed them. It felt like we were on a deluxe vacation, and made the wedding weekend even more special. 10/10 would stay again in a heartbeat!

Perfect backdrop to an incredible weekend!

The Granite House was the perfect addition to our wedding weekend! Dale was an amazing host who was responsive and beyond helpful. We were able to host an intimate rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding at the Branford House. The bride and her bridal party spent the night here and spent the next day getting ready in the beautiful sun porch which look’s incredible in our pictures. We are looking forward to renting the Granite House for years to come, it’s now apart of our story!

Impeccable

From the moment we began speaking with Dale, we knew we were in for an amazing experience! Dale was friendly, communicative when needed, and we LOVED learning the history of the amazing home we were staying in. We booked the Granite House for our wedding weekend for us and the wedding party to stay in, and it was perfect. The fire pit was amazing for the cool nights too! On the wedding day, the gentlemen got ready and took photos in the tavern and the ladies made full use of the house. The bridal suite in the primary bedroom was perfect for me to hang my dress when we arrived on Wednesday and keep it hidden until the wedding day on Saturday. We just really can’t recommend this property enough. It was far beyond our hopes and absolutely MADE our wedding weekend complete!

Stunning Eclectic Property

We had an amazing stay the Granite House! Gorgeous inside and out with all the amenities you could need. The tavern was a great place for our group of 11 to hangout and the bonfire pit was an added bonus. We enjoyed dinner outside and breakfast the next morning at the large dining room table. We were able to Uber to Foxwoods without a problem. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful house plus extras

The granite house is lovely and the adjacent Tavern and outdoor spaces are fantastic. Made a great fire in the huge fire pit area and enjoyed the nearby fireworks. The tavern space was great but hardly used as we were out at Mystic and other spots in the area. One small issue was the bathroom setup. The third bath is on the main level and was the go to shower spot for four of us. The shower is amazing so it was worth the small hassle.

Hi Vincent! We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the Historic Granite House. Thanks for leaving the house in tip-top shape. Mystic and the surrounding shoreline towns offer great sightseeing & restaurants! Hope you'll visit again one day! To avoid confusion with potential guests, the 2nd floor where 3 bedrooms are located also has 2 full bathrooms. The full bathroom on the 1st floor has a shower with many bells & whistles! 😊
