We (a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 boys 5 & 8) stayed here in late August. We knew very little about Chebeague Island before embarking on our adventure. But we managed to figure things out with the help of the owner, the internet and speaking to locals on the island. There was a simplicity to Chebeague that welcomed us with open arms. We had fun walking the beaches, searching for sea glass, swimming at the community pool, driving around the island, eating at the Inn, Slow Bell Cafe, and breakfast at the Niblic. Everyone we encountered was warm and friendly.
The house was gorgeous and well appointed. It had everything we needed and more. We felt very cozy - playing in the yard, sitting on the porch, playing games in the living room, cooking in the kitchen... I loved the decor and modern conveniences of brand new everything (appliances, washer dryer, bathrooms).
Chebeague is a magical place. It was certainly for us. But one word of caution, if you're reading this wondering about the "night life" on Chebeauge, or looking to party, then perhaps this little island isn't for you. It's slower here. Be prepared to slow down, unwind, take time. A funny side note, there was a garage/store on the island and there was a painted sign outside that said "if you don't have 20 minutes then don't stop". I think that adequately sums up Chebeague. If you don't have time to take the time then this might not be the place for you. But if you are looking to mellow out and be off the grid for a few days then definitely consider this place. You won't regret it.
Thank you to Patricia Festino, the owner, for sharing her beautiful place with us.
