Our Family Story
Graley Cottage has been part of our family for more than 70 years.
Our grandparents, Staley and Grace Cook of Burlington, North Carolina, purchased the cottage in the 1950s. The name “Graley” comes from the first names of our grandparents - Grace and Staley - and has been part of our family’s history ever since.
In 2006, our mother, Nancy Cook Moore, lovingly renovated and expanded the cottage while preserving the charm and character that made it so special to our family.
Mom eventually left Graley Cottage to her five children and grandchildren, with the hope that we would continue to enjoy it together and preserve it for generations to come.
Over the years, Graley Cottage has been the setting for countless family vacations, long summer days at the beach, dinners on the porch, children’s adventures, and memories that our family treasures.
We think of Graley Cottage as a little piece of heaven on earth. It is a very special place to our family, and we feel fortunate to be able to share it with other families.
We hope that while you’re here, you’ll relax, have fun, make some wonderful memories of your own—and perhaps fall in love with Graley Cottage the way we have.
We hope you’ll come back year after year.
