Welcome to Cloud Forest House — a handcrafted two-story home in Monteverde's cloud forest, built with luxurious Costa Rican wood and designed for travelers who want something more personal than a hotel.
THE SPACE

This was our family home, and it shows in every detail: warm wood interiors, a spacious two-story layout, and large windows that bring the forest inside. The king bedroom and comfortable living spaces make it ideal for couples or small families seeking a peaceful, premium stay.
The house is semi-detached, and there are other cabins on the property — each with its own private entrance, so your privacy is always respected.

Monteverde sits at 1,400 meters elevation — that's what creates the magical cloud forest, and also means cool temperatures (14–22°C / 57–72°F) and misty, breezy days year-round. Pack a light jacket, even in summer.
The house is 3 km from Monteverde's town center — a 10-minute drive. We recommend renting a car or using local taxis . Our on-site team is always nearby if you need anything during your stay.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. I would have appreciated extra towels, they take so long to dry that we were drying with damp towels the second day. . A full length mirror somewhere in the house would have been nice. I was unfamiliar with the coffeemaker, I think an electric coffeemaker would have been better. The house did have a musty smell but I think that was due to the location. Really rough winding roads leading up to house, but again that’s the location. All in all I felt safe there with my granddaughters and would rent again.

The house is fantastic — spacious, with two floors, and each bedroom has its own private bathroom, which is a big plus. However, it’s important to know that the property is part of a larger complex, including a duplex and nearby houses, so you can definitely hear the neighbors at times. One major downside for us was the lack of access to a washing machine. We stayed for six nights and were only provided with one towel per person and two small cloths for drying dishes. Given the humidity in the area — where nothing dries properly — this was really inconvenient and disappointing. That said, the location is great — nestled in the mountains and close to many activities and national parks. We even walked to Aventura Park in under five minutes! Overall, I’d say it’s a great place if you’re only staying for a short visit.

Hosting is our way of sharing the Monteverde we love: the real one, beyond the tourist trail. Our on-site team is always close by, so you get the warmth of a family-run stay with the reliability of professional hosting.

We didn't choose the cloud forest — we grew up with it. Our property sits just 3 km from Monteverde's town center, close enough for restaurants and tours, but far enough to fall asleep to the sounds of the forest instead of traffic. From here you can reach the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, hanging bridges, and zip lines within minutes. Toucans, hummingbirds, and even quetzals visit the property — this is Monteverde as locals live it.
