A classic Hawaiian style home, this Haena Beach House, known as Hale Pulelehu'a (The Butterfly House), is a wonderful place for your family & friends to experience the island lifestyle on the North Shore of Kauai. Immaculately cared for, Island art & historic photographs help create a serene environment that ensures a memorable experience.
Hale Pulelehu'a (The Butterfly House) is lovingly cared for and provides easy access to all of the activities of Kauai's North Shore. A scenic ten minute drive past historic Hanalei town and only one mile from the end of the road at Ke'e Beach and the start of the breathtaking famed Napali Coast. Fifty steps from Hale Pulelehu'a is one of the most beautiful private sandy beaches on the North Shore. World famous Tunnel's Beach, which is one of the finest seasonal snorkel and surf locations is a spectacular 5-10 minute beach stroll away. Right down the road on the ocean you can dine at the Opakapaka Grill and Bar or visit the Napali Art Gallery and Coffee House with some of the best coffee on the island.

You will also be able to enjoy historic Hanalei Town, where you will find restaurants offering sushi, burgers, vegan dining, fresh fish, Pacific Rim, pizza, Brazilian, and tapas. Several restaurants have been featured in Food and Wine and Gourmet Magazine. Also, don't miss the Hawaiian Shave Ice and Hanalei's wonderful assortment of food trucks.
Hanalei has a variety of charming boutiques and services, including yoga and massage, as well as shops to rent kayaks, snorkel gear, or bikes. You can fish and kayak at the Hanalei pier and river. There is seasonal world class surfing as well.

Princeville is 15 minutes from the house and offers golf, zip-lining tours, horseback riding, jungle waterfall kayak trips, shopping, and more.

This home was perfect for our family vacation. Tunnels beach is our favorite so it was nice to be able to walk there! And having the beach only a few steps away was incredible. The home was clean, beautiful, and had everything we needed. The pictures don’t do it justice.

Haena Home was a perfect retreat for our family retreat. We are a family of 8 with age ranges of 4 years to 82 and a pre-teen in the mix.Haena House ticked all my “must have boxes”.The setting perfect with close proximity to the beach. A beautiful place to stay in one of the most beautiful locations on the planet. Our family of 6 was more than comfortable in the space. It was very clean and had anything you would need. We ran into some weather related concerns due to heavy rain and the property manager was more than accommodating. We hope to be back some day.

This house is absolutely wonderful! An amazing location with a short walking path right across the street that leads directly onto the beach. Beautiful and secluded area. The house has literally everything you need, from kitchen items to games to beach chairs and toys. It's more spacious than the photos, and we had plenty of room for our family trip. If you're thinking of staying here, I strongly suggest doing it!

Hale Pulelehu’a is incredible. The house was so clean and inviting. It was the perfect size for our multi-generational group. The kitchen was big enough to allow many people to work on meals and was stocked with every tool we needed. And the beach is not only just a few steps away, but is gorgeous and uncrowded. We were there in the summer and the swimming and snorkeling were perfect. All of us would love to return and highly recommend staying here.

right across the street from the beach! the neighbors and neighborhood is exactly what we wanted.....away from all the hustle & bustle. The north side of Kauai is wild hawaii! we loved it. the house also has snorkel gear if needed.

A wonderful week

An absolutely perfect place! We enjoyed every bit of our vacation and the location of this home was a big part of that. Steps from a stunning beach and a short drive to some of Kauai's best sights. Easily the most well appointed rental home (kitchen, towels, beach supplies) we have stayed in.

The house is beautiful and kitchen and bathrooms large and functional. Just a minute walk to the beach and great patio for wet swim suits, towels. Has everything you need for the beach- towels, boogie boards, umbrella, chairs. Owner and property manager easy to contact, helpful. Would definitely stay here again! House is in an amazing location.

Wonderful family vaxation

This home and cottage were perfect for our group of 10. Our grown children their spouses and teenagers 16 & 19 and they each brought a friend. The beach just across the street was great for snorkeling,, they saw many fish and turtles. a little rough to just swim. We visited a lot of different beaches , ate some nice restaurants and cafes. The house is very well maintained and stocked with the necessities !

Perfect North Shore property

My wife and I and our two older teen daughters have rented several other Haena properties in the past and highly recommend Hale Pulelehu’a! One of the cleanest properties we’ve ever rented, equipped with absolutely everything from kitchen equipment to beach chairs, toys, and snorkeling gear, a lovely backyard, great outdoor shower, and access to a secluded beach was just steps away. At this price you will not find a finer property on the North Shore of Kauai.

Fantastic House

House is great. Very wide and open design. Nice views of trees from house. Very peaceful and relaxing. Beach is across the street. However, the beach is not for kids as there are large rocks in the water and the surf can get pretty rough. It is a nice beach to sit out and relax on. Location is quiet and about 15 minutes away from any stores/restaurant. The house is the star of the show and a really nice place to stay.

We absolutely loved our stay and will remember it for years to come. It was so suitable for two families with space and accommodation for all. The house is just lovely and we so appreciated the thoughtfulness put into every detail. We have the best photo from our first day of the kids running down the path across the street from the house full of wonder and excitement. I have been returning to Kauai since first living here in 1975. Hale Pulelehu'a is located on the best beach on the entire island of Kauai. We designed Hale Pulelehu'a to appeal to our multi-generational family. The house is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the North Shore and is close to so many great activities. There are so many spectacular things to do within walking distance of the house that you may not even want to get in your car!
