I Cannot Recommend this Place
My stay at Axel’s place did not go well. When I arrived, there was no water. It took a few hours to resolve that issue. Moreover, since the solar hot water heater was empty, there was no hot water for a while even after the water came back on. When I showered, the shower did not drain, and water covered the bathroom floor. This was apparently resolved the next day when Axel (who was out of the country) called some repair people to clean out the drain. I had already left the apartment, so I cannot confirm that the drain functioned properly.
The apartment is incredibly small. It is nearly impossible to walk around the bed in the sleeping loft (I am about 6’0” tall). The bathroom also has a low ceiling which creates very poor ventilation.
There is wi-fi access to the internet, but it comes and goes, which makes planning daily excursions virtually impossible.
I was so displeased with the accommodations that I left the day after checking in, even though I had paid for a two week stay. Axel did not refund any of my rental payment. Instead he wrote lengthy text messages insisting that the VRBO listing does not misrepresent the accommodations and claiming that his net revenues from the property are small. In my opinion, the photos in the listing do misrepresent the overall feel of the apartment, which— at least during the short time I was there had bunch of maintenance issues and an absentee host.
After several emails, Axel offered to compensate me for the water and electricity
