Lovely stay in a lovely place

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at Kona Islander Inn. The unit was small but very well equipped with everything a couple would need. The balcony view was of lush greenery, flowering trees, and a slice of ocean between buildings. We appreciated the electric cooktop and other small appliances, compensating for the lack of built-in range or oven. A box on the balcony contained lots of beach gear, from boogie boards to folding beach chairs. The location was great, for anyone with reasonable mobility and fitness. We could walk to anywhere within the downtown Kailua-Kona area, with a slightly longer walk to the Safeway and WalMart for groceries. (Keep in mind everything is uphill, both ways!) We were right around the corner from the farmers' market, where we bought fresh papayas and bananas for our breakfasts. Journey Cafe is a block or two north of the Kona Islander Inn, offering vegan and gluten free food that's so good, you'd never suspect it was either. The ocean itself, with a small "beach" and tide pools, was directly across the road from the property.The management company was easily reachable and very quick to respond. Once we messed up the lock and couldn't get into the unit, and they were able to talk us through the re-set while we were still standing there on the porch. A couple of small negatives: The lock on the sliding door to the balcony has long since worn through, so there was no way to secure the entrance from the balcony. We reported the issue and requested a large dowel rod or something as a makeshift lock, but there was no follow-through from management. The ceiling fan, which we found very useful to use in conjunction with the air conditioner, was connected to the light over the dining room table, and could not be used separately. At bedtime we wanted to leave the fan on while leaving the light off, but it was impossible. Fortunately there was a small plug-in fan provided, so we could have air circulation with the lights off.

This place was amazing! Super clean and had everything we needed. Close to town and we were super impressed by the amount of appliances provided for us. Will def come back.

Overall a great place

Reviewer Comments: Got a warning sticker permanently affixed to my windshield because I forgot my parking pass then one affixed to my door because I left my shorts hanging on the rail of the balcony I think that person is taking the job a little too seriously, water was not working for a short time in the front desk starts way too late overall charming place and I would stay there again
